People didn't take water intoxication seriously. My grandpa used to get drunk on Kool-Aid. No joke. He had one kidney, and it was deformed.
Lets hope he didn't have to see his grandson wearing womens clothes.

I was 9 years old at this point in 2007. I heard about this in the news. I felt bad for her kids.

The fact that the host they interviewed seemed to have no remorse is just astonishing to me.
You're right, they for sure had to know of at least part of the danger of this promotion. A part of the story I cut out was the hosts talking about another kid (college age) who died from water intoxication in the same area as them, but still continued on with the contest. The hosts were oblivious in that sense, and also them not showing remorse was crazy!!!

I thought this story fit my niche bc it was a promotion for the radio station, plus the story itself is very interesting! Such a weird event that def has some lessons learned.
