    Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States, located in Southeast Texas near the Gulf of Mexico. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 2.239 million[5] within a land area of 599.6 square miles (1,553 km2),[6] it also is the largest city in the Southern United States,[7] as well as the seat of Harris County. It is the principal city of Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, which is the fifth-most populated metropolitan area in the United States.
    Houston was founded on August 28, 1836 near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing)[8][9] and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-20th century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center-the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions-and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.[10]
    Houston's economy has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. It is also leading in health care sectors and building oilfield equipment; only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters within its city limits.[11][12] The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled.[13] Nicknamed the "Space City", Houston is a global city, with strengths in business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine, and research. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. Houston is the most diverse city in Texas and has been described as the most diverse in the United States.[14] It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.

    Nice to see greenery and trees. West Texas is all grey and dry.

    For everyone commenting about where everyone is, let me tell you this. Besides what someone else said “obviously recorded on a Sunday” (nigga please), all of your points are correct. There are underground tunnels and stuff, and most places in downtown Houston are nothing but businesses. But most people live outside downtown, and thing is about Houston public transportation is, there’s none of it. Like okay, you have the metros that take you around DT and the medical district and whatever, but public transportation outside downtown is hard and never really an option, so having a car in Houston is essential. That reason, combined with most if DT Houston being nothing but businesses is why the streets aren’t filled with people. Everyone is driving.

      So the streets of your city are deserted during the day? People walking the streets means they aren't working or doing nothing? What a dumb comment.

      There's a huge system of underground tunnels, about 7 miles worth, that connect a majority of those buildings. There are also alot of shops and restaurants inside the tunnel

    Lots of tall buildings but no atmosphere

      I know this is an old comment but all the people are walking through the underground tunnel system that connects these buildings while keeping people out of the heat. The tunnels stay very busy.

    Compared to Dallas, Downtown Houston is pretty fucking boring. The new tower under construction at the beginning looks really ugly and ruins the Houston skyline.

      Have you ever been to Dallas? I've been all over the Texaplex, and Dallas is one of the finest cities I've been to in Texas. It's very clean, modern, and cosmopolitan. You should check out the Addison-North Dallas, Oaklawn, Highland Park areas. They have tons of great bars, clubs, and restaurants.

      JMMT7022801 True but behind the other cities where it counts. Houston has the best uptown in the US, San Antonio and Austin have thriving downtowns, Fort Worth has shopping centers like Dallas, a bustling cultural scene around La Gran Plaza, and the steller Sundance square area. Dallas' has mid and north Dallas but Houston and SA have great North parts of town too as well as midtowns with beautiful spacious parks. Dallas has one hell of a skyline but can be boring compared to the rest. Still a great city though. Lots of concerts go through there.

      Dallas is actually a really fun city. Uptown, Oaklawn, Southside, Mockingbird Station, and the Deep Ellum, are up-and-coming areas. The Addison-North Dallas area has the Galleria, bars, clubs, restaurants. Have you ever been to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar?

    • @mariomario7379

      JMMT7022801 I used to live in Dallas. I just feel like after living in in SA and Austin, Dallas feels different. It's an amazing city and the metroplex is still growing for a reason. Yes I have been to the dueling piano bar. It's cool singing out loud while drunk. Just saying that Dallas is behind in some key areas. The urban core is active but quiet compared to the other cities in the Texas Triangle, even with Deep Ellum east of downtown. Even Houston is rowdy in the daytime. I visit frequently. Dallas has Klyde Warren Park but it's no Memorial Park in Houston or Brackenridge in San Antonio. All of the big cities in Texas have bars and upscale shopping. Sure Dallas has the Galleria, so does Houston and it's bigger...much bigger. SA has the the incredible La Cantera center and Austin has the Domain. Dallas really can't tout having the best shopping anymore. Especially since the city only has 3 malls and 1 is an absolute mess. It's like Dallas brags about being Dallas but doesn't bring anything new to the table. Sure the towers they have are impressive, almost up there with Houston but outside of eating and shopping, what can you do there? I know about the Katy Trail and that doesn't help much. I am scared of that place.

    I like your videos but this was a really bad showcase of Houston... Like... if I was going to show someone downtown Houston and all the sky scrapers and all, I wouldn't have gone down any of the roads in this video.

    Nobody one lives there, place is always dead unless theres a sports event or something, but for everyday living? Forget about it, its a 9-5 office park, that's all it is, and that's all it will be for the foreseeable future.

      We have underground tunnels that provide us to move around without being affected by the heat of the sun, get your shit straight.

    • @christianbotello4651

      Helenbvby Ah the typical "tunnels" excuse, the vast majority of the people in those tunnels are workers, and it doesn't matter what you think or how biased you are, the fact of the matter is that Houston's downtown population is 4,000, which is EXTREMELY low, even Austins downtown population is mutiple times larger, at around 20,000, and I was there on 4th of July, it was ok at best. Its very simple, numbers dont lie, and downtown is for the most part, a 9-5 office park, where the majority of people only go for work and then drive in gridlock taffic back to their homes in the suburbs, where they actually eat, live, and play, so how about you do a little research before you tell someone to get their shit straight when you dont even know what you're talking about, unbelievable...

      Are you expecting for the workers to carry their personal lives and to live in their offices or work area in general? Downtown Houston mainly contains business buildings since Downtown Houston is a central business district. In other words that means very people settle there to live IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON. DOWNTOWN, where there's nothing but business buildings, not houses or apartments but BUSINESS BUILDINGS. That's Downtown Houston. Now the population of Houston is 2.3 million, TWICE Austin's whole population. Don't try to tell me about the place I was born AND raised in.

    • @christianbotello4651
      @christianbotello4651 7 лет назад +6

      Helenbvby You're just helping my point, because the topic is the lack of people in downtown, so you explained very clearly and helped further my point as to why downtown Houston is a dead, boring, empty 9-5 office park, everything else you said is off topic and irrelevant, and about Austin, its downtown is much better, and im not trying to sell you anything, im just stating facts.

    • @christianbotello4651
      @christianbotello4651 7 лет назад +2

      Helenbvby How so? How about actually using some logic and reason to explain why im so stupid instead of just calling me stupid and cursing at me, please elaborate.
