    I spent years in an H-60 squadron (Navy, not Army) and I know the an H-60 is much more agile and maneuverable then a passenger airliner. There was no reason whatsoever for that helicopter to collide with that airplane. This was a 100% screw up on behalf of the Army.

      it was on purpose. the helicopter literally b-lined into the jet. it took more work to crash into it than to avoid it.

      It sounds like the Heli pilot was given visual flight rules and the pilot confirmed he saw the plane 3 times on the atc recording, he was most likely tracking the wrong plane, but I doubt we'll ever really know unless the army releases the full tapes from the helicopter.

      @
      DEI also covered veterans not being automatic disqualified for positions.
      I don’t agree that all DEI hires are done in good faith but the mass firing that happened in the aviation departments only to be followed by this means they weren’t considering the quality of skill of everyone that was fired. It was just a mass firing to be aggressive that lead to at least one person who was doing their job right, and now we had a trainee sent out who wasn’t ready because someone less experienced had to fill a gap that was left from the firing. And now people are dead.

There are three air force bases around the area they should be used for military operations. With hundreds of flights per day the public should not be put at risk while the military does training.

    • @mastod0n1
      @mastod0n1 7 дней назад

      @ryanray6215 there must have been some lack of communication between the Army and ATC/FAA. I know from the transcripts that the Black Hawk was asked to confirm visuals on the passenger plane but that was less than a minute before the crash. But the blame probably falls on the helicopter pilot. That airspace is the approach for Reagan airport and helicopters are much more maneuverable. Or ATC could have had the plane go into a holding pattern. A lot of factors involved for which we won't have answers for the time being.

    >FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on October 5, 2018. While this law covered a wide range of aviation-related issues, it included provisions aimed at improving diversity and workforce development within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the broader aviation industry.
    He is responsible for the diversity he is blaming.

    I feel like the ATC‘s communication should have been more clear with precise directions; specific questions should have been asked by the Blackhawk pilot. Looks like they were confused due to lack of clear communication. So sad.

      DC is highly patrolled so that tragedies like this don’t happen at the capitol. There was definitely more at fault than just the helicopter. Air traffic control should’ve said something sooner to either party

    For the people that haven't heard of the other airplane crash into the Potomac it's something that is very interesting to research. Air Florida flight 90 crashed into the Potomac River just after taking off from Reagan International Airport in January 1982. Five people survived. The raw footage of that and people being rescued from their cars and from the icy waters is purely incredible.
