Punk. Poet. Warlord. Streetcore was in heavy rotation in my life for a long time. London Calling is a desert island classic. Will never stop missing this musical genius.
Nice one, Henry. I’m a Clash boy from 1978 onwards; I saw The Clash and Latino Rockabilly War; I met Joe after every show and I just spent Glastonbury with his family at Strummerville. Damn, I miss him.
Thanks for a great and informative review Henry. I went out and bought the boxset and was not disappointed. It's been put together with love, care and attention to detail that does justice to Joe's memory. Excellent.
I got Streetcore when I was in the marines, I didn't know Joe had died and I was really looking forward to trying to meet him after I got out. Those were the days.
I had no idea this was released! Man, I think this was his golden era... what a loss. Not a lot of people can top something like The Clash, but he did it. It may not have been as 'important', but the music was insanely good. Thanx Henry, going to order this right away.
In 2000, I would stay after work to work on publishing my first book. The X-Ray album played on repeat night in and night out until I finished it. R.I.P. Joe…Pink Rock Warlord. 🍻☮️
This is a fantastic recommendation! As a fan of The Clash, I don't know why I never explored Joe Strummer's solo career in depth. Thank you greatly, Mr. Henry Rollins.
I envy you. Joe progressed nicely after The Clash, as The Clash itself had. The Mescaleros are definitely NOT The Clash. Better musicians, technically speaking. :)
Inhale power...exhale force. Oh Henry.....thank you for those words so long ago. Love this review so much! What a beautiful box set. I am such a sucker for the super nice ones like this. Wow.
I randomly listened to all 3 of my Mescaleros albums a few weeks ago, so this video came at a good time for me. Joe really let loose, had fun and was inspired by his new band. It was like a rebirth for him as an artist. A great musician, song writer, performer and all around music aficionado gone to soon..✌❤
I love the Clash and was always bummed I never saw them, Joe Strummer and the Mescalaros came out and I was blown away, they were great but also sadly I seemed to miss their shows when they played here, I had so much regret when Joe passed, never felt that bad about any "Rockstar" passing before, thankfully his music lives on and glad Henry is still carrying the torch.
Agree, Joe was a great artist and yes miss him and wish he was here along with my two other favorite artists, Lou Reed and David Bowie, all three of whom left us too early. Kind of goes without saying that all artists are influenced by everything around them and funnel those experiences into their unique sensibility and aesthetic. Joe and the Ms was a very special collaboration indeed........
This, the Syd Barrett Book, & the Rollins-produced Zeppelin photo book are my favorite music books. To be a fan of the music for years with nothing but the sounds of the albums to go on, and then you open a hardcover and WHAM you fall deep into a whole lifetime of creativity.
Thanks Henry. I pre-ordered mine two days ago. I also have 001. Everything you said about Joe was right on. So much respect for that man warts and all.
thanks for doing this henry, 001 was amazing, a deep treasure chest with many many rewards, can't wait to hear vibes compass, esp the outtake of get down moses, one of the most righteous jams the mescaleros ever laid down, could go for an hour & never be boring for a note or a beat! rip joe, leading a smoking garage band in rock & roll heaven!
He was the reason I started a solo band I’m going to have to get this. Street core is one of my favorite records of all time and why I started J Navarro and the Traitors
It’s wild, the only album I haven’t been able to snag over the years was Rock Art and the X-Ray Style. This collection still seems 100% worth buying 🤘🏻
Joe has been my ultimate hero for the past 42 years, he actually wouldn't want that cos he didn't like the hero status stuff but sorry Joe you are a hero to many😋❤️❤️ great speaking by Henry, another brilliant man 👌👍
Wow great! Please send me more shows featuring Henry Rollins, on subjects that interest him. He's one of my favorite entertainers. He's right up there with William Shatner. He just hasn't traveled to space. Not yet!
Thank you for this. I would like to share that I still remember a dream I had...I had a deep conversation with Joe Strummer (of course about what I can't remember, that's what sucks). Not that long thereafter, my brother tells me the same thing. I find that to be cool as hell.
Saw and met Jo and the clash twice then saw joe and the Mescaleros they supported the Who in Newcastle upon Tyne they were brilliant it’s the only time I’ve seen a Support act to have more of the audience than the main act. 😊🏴☠️
Looking forward to it - not sure how cool Joe would have been forcing fans to buy all three albums again to get the rarities, but that's the way the cookie crumbles...
Kia ora hello Henry from Aotearoa new zealand. hay in 2006 my first son was born and his name is Strummer Clash Palace . I'm a massive fan of Joe Strummer and the Clash not to mention a life long fan of you Mr Rollins my first tattoo 14 year's old 1984: THE BAR'S ON MY LEFT SHOULDER . you helped me and many others rise above you good man and you are the REAL DEAL and i know I'm right because I'm an AUCKLAND BORN ARIES and Aries and Aucklandlers are never WRONG
I normally wouldn't post this comment on any release, but as a fan of Joe Strummer and hearing Henry R. sprinkle the word "analog" in there a few times, I couldn't help but wonder why he would do that when there nothing official written anywhere about how this record is mastered.. Since nothing is said, one has to assume the source and/or the final mix/master is digital. I'm sensing his mention of the word analog is referring to the fact that it is on vinyl vs. a CD.
Music fantastic not sure not packaging as mine arrived bit bashed up What’s that screwed up but stuck in back for. Yours is screwed up I fear taking off and making box look even worse Still music n book v good
Love the Strummer retrospective, but isn’t Strummer frequently cited as the brains behind the final Clash album conveniently NOT mentioned? They made an epic mad dash from punk (on their first album) to reggae then hitting the formula of punk/reggae/funk that made “Combat Rock” so amazing. Then Jones left the band, Strummer got control and recorded “Cut the Crap;” which, if we’re judging from the title, tells you everything about how Joe felt about the Clash’s previous progression. I’m glad to hear he finally got on-board with expanding the sound, but I’d argue that happened after the Clash tanked hard post-Combat Rock (again, “Cut the Crap” wasn’t even mentioned here) and he did some introspection.
Someone clarify please. Is it the pronouced Mass-caleros or Mess-caleros? I get the feeling Mr Rollins is injecting some weird accent to The Mescaleros

Rest in Paradise Warlord...you are missed by many
Warlord?
He wasn't just a friend, he was a fan all the way. Thank You Henry!! Love it! ♥️
Punk. Poet. Warlord.

London Calling was named Rolling Stone's album of the decade.
Nice one, Henry. I’m a Clash boy from 1978 onwards; I saw The Clash and Latino Rockabilly War; I met Joe after every show and I just spent Glastonbury with his family at Strummerville. Damn, I miss him.
Fantastic comp. RIP Joe Strummer
Cool story by Henry of Joe singing the tune to Johnny!!!! lovely. jubbly, coolness book! cheers!
Thanks for a great and informative review Henry. I went out and bought the boxset and was not disappointed. It's been put together with love, care and attention to detail that does justice to Joe's memory. Excellent.
Respect for both Henry and Joe. This is a great collection. ⚡️🤍⚡️
Very nice presentation Henry. Thanks . x
This was awesome. Henry was the perfect man for this mission. Thanks Henry. And most of all thanks Joe! We do indeed miss you a little more.
I got Streetcore when I was in the marines, I didn't know Joe had died and I was really looking forward to trying to meet him after I got out.
Those were the days.
I loved Joe. Named my cat Strummer, which turned out to be a great name for a cat!
Viva Joe Strummer. Rollins genuine love of music brings a smile to my face.

Fantastic review, Henry. Strummer was a master and the Mescaleros were such a great time in music history
Really great to se Henry's love of Joe. I have some great bootlegs from his last shows and he still had it.
Global a go go is dear to my heart ♥
Joe passed away on my Birthday and I think about him often. What a talented man.
Definitely worth picking up. Pure soul
This was such a great video. Loved hearing Henry talk about Joe. This also 100% swayed me to buy this

Thank you from Italy. Joe: always the best
Nice job Henry! I was walking in NYC on a random street and I found the Joe Strummer The Future is Unwritten mural. So cool!!
I was just listening to this yesterday. Well spoken.

I’ve worn out Streetcore. Will be wonderful to hear some other songs.

Coma Girl is one of my favourite songs by Joe Strummer, wish he'd done more stuff with Brian Setzer.

Wow, tomorrow I must go to my record Store to preorder this amazing treasure.
The Call up off Sandinista one of my all time favorite songs by JS
I actually tried to promote Magnificent Seven to the local rap radio station, which was run by all black people. They politely dismissed me. :)
Fuck yeah Call Up. "I Don't wanna Die..."
Getting this boxset
got a copy, fantastic box set, bonus stuff is great
I can only hope Henry does this with his albums soon. This is an awesome looking box set and the review is fantastic. Perfect person to show it off.
Well done. Looks to be a special box.
Just love hearing Rollins talk about records!
He was the reason I started a solo band I’m going to have to get this. Street core is one of my favorite records of all time and why I started J Navarro and the Traitors
Had my copy on pre-order since July.
Mess-caleros!
Henry's got his giant hit discotheque album.
Preach it Mr. Rollins.
Not old enough to of seen The Clash but I saw Joe three times! ♥️🏴
It looked like the book was falling apart as he opened it up and was turning the pages. Makes me wonder about the quality of the book.
Oh, wow. I was loving that book.
Great ! Most people are familiar with Mick Jone's BAD but not with The Mezcaleros. Very nice for any Clash related vinyl collection.
Big Audio Dynamite is OK, but it's not Joe.

I'm hoping the money goes to his family.
Sold out at the official store
Geez you look ole HR!
Rip Joe😎

I still haven't come to terms with Joe's death when i hear Coma Girl I tear up along with THE EXCITEMENT GANG I'm pretty sure
007 Bonds Live and Lost Demos
Mascaleros??
Is Streetcore objectively one of the greatest albums ever? Yes. Yes, it is.
That’s our joe, thanks Rollins great vid. Food for rumination.
Today is the 20th anniversary of Joe Strummer's death #RIPJoeStrummer

Rollins? I thought it was Bill Nye the science Guy

The 'not Septic' Bruce Springsteen !
I don’t agree with any of Henry Rollin’s politics, that he’s so vocal about. But I respect his opinion as a Punk Legend.
❤👍🏼
Well... who better than Rollins
to tell us about it?
Spotted: Punk Rock For Dummies, on the top shelf. Just kidding. Go get this.
Henry Rollins: King of the pricks. Glad he's starting to luck genuinely unhealthy
Good man Henry. He is getting the band name wrong though, least I think so. Hard to take on the big man.
fuck, Joe's been gone 20yrs already. 😥
y u saying mescaleros like that
Who are the Maskaleros? anyways
Music fantastic not sure not packaging as mine arrived bit bashed up What’s that screwed up but stuck in back for. Yours is screwed up I fear taking off and making box look even worse
Still music n book v good
shit henry is looking a lot older
Not how you pronounce Mescalero.

Too simplistic. A lot of craziness surrounding the last album with many involved in the fiasco.
Said like an opportunistic west coast “punk rocker” who should simply have become a salesman. Put you veins away. Ugh.

@@leeroden7900 no I wasn't aware. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Mess, like mescaline.
Must cost a packet.
Great review Henry. Now.... if only you'd stop mis-pronouncing Mescaleros. It's not MASKaleros ffs!
