My fav story with AMDs from a friend who was a conscript in the 90s:
They were at some training and he lost the butt-stock of the AMD in a forest. The sergeant sent him back to look for it. He returned with four additional ones.
@Qᴜɪᴄᴋ Sᴀɴᴅ This has some reality to it. Around Várpalota (Bakony Harckiképző Központ) the biggest military training center in Europe you can find random AMD/AKM stocks AKM mags and a bit after the US guys leave even 5.56 AR-15 mags.
Edit: As of 2020.07.26 Hungary has retired ALL AMD-65 in inventory. Almost all AKM variants we used. (Except for a couple of AK-63Fs which the replacement for hasn't arrived yet.) Hungary is almost clear of the AK... We moved to the CZ BREN-2 in 7.62x39... So no more cool metal mags...
@Qᴜɪᴄᴋ Sᴀɴᴅ also these stocks like to commit self die. They were made in the late 60s early 70s so...
Lemaoo😂😂
@@sikertsok225 If that were true, then someone could can cash in on those stocks and get $100 a wop
@@ElectricLarry__ Stocks as in the plastic parts on the AKs.
Finally, this Hungarian beauty gets some recognition.
Thanks a lot, Larry! Greetings from the AMD-65's home land.
Hungarian AK's are pretty good. Do you know why production was ceased?
Thanks
I would assume that economic climate wasn't the best after the iron curtain came down, and that most of the country's heavy industry took a hit.
But the actual reason behind the manufacturer's bankruptcy is a weapons deal embargo from 2004, according to Wikipedia. Also, there was some corruption scandal apparently, when millions of dollars worth of funds "went missing". The mother company bailed them out, so the company still exists today, but they are no longer manufacturing firearms, only heating (HVAC) devices.
That fucking blows. Because in 2004, the Assault Weapons Ban expired in the US, so if FEG had held out a little longer, they could have started exporting Hungarian AK's to the US again. Too bad really, all we have now are Romanian, Bulgarian, and Serbian AK's being imported. Maybe Polish rifles soon.
Sup biiiiitch
AMD64 is the 64-bit version of the x86 computer architecture, AMD-65 is a Hungarian AKM Variant!
x64 isn't a version of x86
automata módosított deszantfegyver
The AMD-65, (Automata Módosított Deszant) was meant to be a paratrooper weapon, while the AK-63 was the standard infantry rifle.
However, many other infantry units ended up with AMD-65 rifles too. A lot of people I spoke with, who served during the socialist times praised the weapon's handling and light weight.
The Hungarian Defense Force is currently planning to replace the AK series with the CZ Bren 2 rifles, with CZ constructing a plant in Hungary.
What I find too bad is that the CZ Bren 2 doesn’t really share anything with the traditional World War Bren from what I’ve seen. Kinda a letdown, the bare minimum they could’ve done was give it a toploading magazine.
@@commanderfoxtrot The last thing any modern user or maker wants is a top-loading magazine.
@@realtalk6195 has anyone ever told you how much of an asshole you are, by chance?
I was in a chemical defense unit at the end of the 80s, it was the same for me. In basic training, I shot 27 rounds out of 3 shots, but I think the gun was a load of crap! I really didn't like the foldable shoulder rest. It would have been a big problem if you had to go with this in a sharp situation!!!
I tried one of these in Budapest. The sound is phenomenal. If the bullet doesn´t kill the enemy, the shockwave will!
Our fathers' service weapon in the Hungarian People's Army 😊
The wood grip version made after the system change, and the original warsaw's pact era made with grey plastic grips.
Wait, this isn't a graphics card?
Vasil Zahariev 😂
AMD kill everyone... Buy INTEL :)
I mean, both get hot after being excessively used for a long period of time, too - Soooo ...
Dezhen It's joke, man. I'm using AMD too and I count it the best processors.
I was referring to Vasil's comment with a joke.
Spoiler: *That AMD-65, the weapon, gets hot after some time during usage, like an AMD GPU.*
There, i explained my joke. (Edited it a bit, so that it gets more clear lol...)
This is the sexiest Ak of them all. I got one of the semi versions back in the early 2000s for $275
I hope when you say "sexiest" you're referring to handling and not its looks.
I have a buddy who has one as well. I offered him 700 and my 10/63. He obviously declined. I dont blame him lol.
that stock sucks ass but everything else is sweet about those guns!
CircaSriYak what's weeps
Just bought a build kit that has everything ( but the Barrell is 16.5 inches) I need to get the receiver and put it all together
Larry made my day once again, I'm liking before watching
Greetings from Russia Larry, real professional
This takes me back to my days with the Ocelot Unit
This reload time is exhilarating.
Not him .. Shoot the other one !! 😂
Major!
Saw in hungarian military museum one of those with night vision optics, looks very cool.
So where’s the Intel-65?
What about Eiffel 65?
What about incel 65 ?
What about the Incest 69?
;(
Lol
Few mention that this is the lightest AK in the entire Kalashnikov diaspora, at least in x39
In Larry we Trust.!
Incredible visuals and audio. Thanks for bringing it to us larry!!
I had one of these in semi auto for a while. Hands down my favorite 7.62 AK variant.
You have the best job in the world LV
I got to see one of these in Afghanistan in 2008.
Quite a few Hungarian AKs in Afghanistan. There’s some AMD 63s floating around with the locals too.
There is no AMD-63, only AKM-63 exists.
I think the US arranged for a large shipment of Hungarian guns to arm the Afghani Police.
Last time i heard they did not like it as much as a normal AK as the shorter barrel is less of an advantage in a large open area.
〈--- Literally FAST food ™ (mɐin chɐnnǝl)
That’s what I’ve been told. Thing is, with how poorly most of the Afghanis shoot, the shorter barrel and sight radius won’t matter anyway.
That is true.
That is truly an AMD. It gets hot after 1 min of usage..
Its funny cause Intel has the hotter, less efficient CPUs these days :P
As always Larry, great information. I’ve learned so much about the guns from around the world watching your videos. Very impressed with your muzzle control, but we wouldn’t expect to see anything less. Keep the great videos coming.
Thanks
I spoke to a few hungarian army veterans and they all said they miss the AMD. Originally it was an officer's and vehicle crew's gun, but most of the infantry guys liked it much more than the AK63d. It's been slowly taken out of service, nowadays you only see on some parades.
Simple, robust, and deadly !!! These guns will be with you even when hell froze over !!!
An outstanding video, great rundown and some fireworks to boot.
Another great video....I built my own semi version many years ago....one of my favorites....mine has the gray synthetic pistol grips...the full size AMD 63 I built came with matching wood grips and buttstock
I got one years ago and it’s a blast to shoot! Very accurate too I was surprised
Awesome! The AMD is one of my favorites.
Nagyon köszönöm, Larry
Már azt hittem csak én nézem őt magyarok közül :D
Glazkov nyugi vagyunk meg paran😁

Bizony ám!
Mosógép eladó!
Great video Larry, as always
Perfect gun for tankers
Larry Vickers is the King! Blessings!
Wow this is so cool. you have some of the best gun content Larry!
Awesome video, thank you for fulfilling the request.
I’ve always loved the look of the AMD
It's been a long while since I watched one of your vids. Fantastic job on the weight loss.
Hell yeah! This is one of my favorite SBRs I love this gun. Great video V wish mine was select fire.
Waited for the video so long but it was worth thr time
Love the AMD65 probably my favorite AK variant
Oh shit new Vickers video AND its an AMD. I have one of these, one of my favorite AKs.
a company makes a cheek riser for this thats simple and padded. BIG improvement and easy to mod.
Larry, great video brother.
When I watch these videos I think damn Larry is the luckiest SOB in the world to experience these guns but then I remember it’s not luck,Larry has paid his dues and earned it through his service to our country.
Just came from an older video; you're in great shape! Nice video as always!
Gotta say really impressed by how low the recoil was for that caliber, would love to hear how it compares to other 7.62×39 rifles of the same era Larry!
Awesome brother ,your looking real good man. Great job
Literally my favorite ak variant
AMD is an abbrevation of "Automatic Modified Dessant". It means, that it was developed for the use of the hungarian paratroopers. In fact, it was used widely in other roles too in the army, and also by the police here, in Hungary in the 90's. Later it was replaced by the AK-63D. (Sorry for my english, im from Hungary).
Mines is on a FEG receiver SBRd and with an ultimak and Aimpoint t1. The short barrel is heavy and you should do an accuracy test on it, LAV. There is no barrel whipping going on so there is some accuracy improvements.
Notice it on your slow mo videos and also compare it to your AK74 and AKM videos with the normal 16 inch barrel.
I also have a Feg . What's the difference between it and the AMD? Aside from being full auto
Larry ur awesome! We love Larry
Wow Larry you dropped heaps of weight! Great work!
Oh hellllllll yes! Thank you for video. Was just cleaning mine 🇺🇸👍🏼
Vickers Tactical great vid man these really help me out because im entering the world of game design and im focusing on a near future setting of 2030 which gives me more creative freedom but im thankful that you are reviewing these guns because if not id probably still be stuck on my weapons list. P.S. The setting is set in a crippling America because of a Supervirus that knocked out most of the Power Grid and too top it off rising tensions between America and North Korea have boiled over into a full out war
My friend had one shortly, it was pretty cool!
Hey Larry, I just wanted to say I never cared that you put on weight (it happens to all of us at some point), but I'm glad to see that you're loosing weight. For what it's worth, I'm proud of you pal. 💪😎
More real speed footage! Yes! Looks like Vickers saw some of our comments
That brake is crazy. I can't imagine being parallel to that beast. Damn.
The quality of this video is so impressive even for 2018! sheesh!
Cool video Larry; I have one of these; they are good runners; thanks.
I love my AMD and adapted it with a UTG front end and optic. My go-to bug out gun.
Live in the States? May have to use it soon. Also, Canada’s about to see an influx of imitation AMD-65 rifles, full-auto only and with more simplistic internals than your standard AK.
When it comes to weapon education, Larry is hard to beat!
I can’t wait to get mine
Amazing presentations sir ....
Just bought one hyped
so amd guards are armed with amd-65.
they shoot you into pixels
Yeah!!!! Love My AMD65 collection!!
Lookin good Mr Vickers.
Damn. That sound from firing that gun is so bad ass.
i waited for this so long :D
looking good larry :D
My draco (AK47 pistol) is based on one of these. The receiver is made by nodak spud before they were named nodak spud. Its thicker than normal. A cure for the lack of the top handguard is to use the mission first tactical handguard. The upper HG screws to the bottom HG. That's the route I went. I believe midwest industries can do the same but I used what I already had. It was assembled by century on that nodak spud reciever before they changed their name. It has a full length gas system with the barrel cut shorter so I don't have to worry about the bolt carrier beating the rear trunnion to death like you have to worry about with the mini and micro draco models. Nice video as always, Larry.
Does yours have the same (standard) akm gas block and fsp as does this amd? And if so how long is your barrel? I'm trying to put one together like that and need to know the barrel length.
great job on the weight loss, man! keep it up, you look a lot better
Greetings from Hungary Lary :)
This gun was my first airsoft conversion from a metal replica. Got a lot of weird last old on the field.
I love the one I own. A must own beauty
Greetings from Hungary! B-)
Great Sir Larry. I am the avid fan of yours en AK also but I like AK in 5.56x45 cartridge NATO for higher velocity.
That AK is AFGHAN design en truly amazing gun.
A overhead view to see that dragon breath through its nose would have looked awesome!!!!
Yeah, Tim from Military Arms Channel had trouble getting a 30rd in his rifle... He still got it in, but it was always difficult.
Love at first sight
Smooth!
damn, AMD really stepping up their games now.
The South African Special Forces (Recces) were partial to using these quite a lot "behind the lines" in Angola and Mozambique in the 1980's ;-)
So I deployed to Afghanistan and the Afghan National Police and ANA got a ton of these in the mid to late 2000s. Later on the USA started to give them a ton of M16A2 but before that for some reason ISAF flooded Afghanistan with AMD-65s. Yes, the handguards get super hot and the Afghans had AMD65 with no pistol grip so they had to qualify and learn to shoot with this rifle. You can find a lot of pictures online of all of this.
I love my semi auto variant. Clearview investments makes a plastic clamshell stock that goes over the wire tube. Makes it like theres a real AK stock on the end but still retains the side folding feature. Worth the 20 something bucks I spent on it and its not permanent. The wire stock sucks as is when actually shooting the gun.
The gun sounds awsome
First time I saw an AK like that was on the TV show the professionals in the early 80's.
Wow , another great video .
Love the slow motion, thank you
Person note
I know you have the funds
Got to get some one on one Crossfit
Trust me you will not regret it ...
there is nothing out there like it specially one on one .
Regardless of limitations ....
The AMD-65 also has a shorter gas piston than a full AKM, which I think aids in the recoil with less mass traveling back and forth. What are cyclic rates vs the AKM?
A place in Texas makes a bolt on cheek riser which works very effectively.
Lane Huwe gotta find that sweet spot. Look how scar h kills optics
The reciprocating mass of the bolt carrier has a different effect on recoil than the overall weight of the gun. 3 Gun folks use a lightweight bcg to help reduce felt recoil, if the bolt speeds remain the same.
The gas port is bigger, so the shorter piston means nothing, it still recoils harder than a regular AKM. An AMD65 also weighs less, so more recoil with that too.
My gas port is 3mm, just like on most other AKMs. Without the brake, my AMD still shoots softer than other AKMs I have built.
Really? Because I have an NHM90 underfolder I'm trying to get rid of
You Larry... ARE THE FN MAN !
Nice looking gun
Mr vickers great video but I am wondering if you could please do a video about hk33 or hk g41.
Will do !
I think I saw this in a Syphon Filter game...
Also, the "T" at the end of "Bellot" is silent.
Got one myself as a deactivated. Pretty funcky looking thing
Metal Gear Solid 3/Peace Walker introduced me to this awesome gun, very tacticool for the year it was introduced.
Advisory: On the TGI AMDs, be ready for the tiny spot weld to crack.
I was aware--before buying my TGI--what the weld's repair cost would be. A buddy's AMD-65 weld also cracked.
$160, charged by the only gun smith in Memphis >> who knows how to do the correct work
Whats your thoughts on the kns adjustable gas piston for the ak platforms?
My fav ak
Maybe I missed it, but did you touch on the shortened gas piston?
Yes, I remember when these were cheap. It was very accurate for a short barrel AK.
@Honk Honkler exactly, its mainly the rifling and the quality of production for the barrel.
Though the way a bolt chambers a round can influence accuracy also.
This gun have a beautyful and powerful sound . (sorry my bad english)
Damn nice gun
