This video just shows how scary it can be when you crash in a race car. But it also shows how safe modern racing cars are
yeah, that guy copped a head-on collision at 150kph and said "oof" and i was like, if it was in my car i would have died

it's pretty scary, a little fun if it's not with another car, but if you crash with other drivers it's scary. i've had a couple this season
the splash of water in the 3rd one must have been terrifying
no kidding, though i bet rally officials wouldn’t have drowning be a possibility on any given stage
@@riverpage7896 I've seen an ARA video where a rally car was under water with only its roof showing. It was a narrow road with water on both sides.

I was flagging from T8 at Mid Ohio that NASA crash happened at the exit of 9. I didn't see it but it sounded like a bomb went off.
The last accident must have left the driver and co-driver confused. Was there supposed to be traffic on that area?

It was a test before the real rally, the road was closed but that car somehow got in

Yeah tests usually has roads closed, that other driver must've ignored it or didn't see any signs.
1:07 Just realized Sebastien Buemi just tried to steer his car despite the fact both of his front tires are completely destroyed. He did the same thing 13 years ago in a Toro Rosso in Formula 1 (although the tires were actually gone when he did it then)
It is a force of habit and instinct at that point

I've always wanted to see a helmet cam angle of some of the crashes we've seen throughout time, and now seeing this... I'm super happy and terrified at the same time
The scariest is 1:41. All he can see is smoke, bright orange flames somewhere and he knows he's somewhere on a track with cars doing up to 200mph behind him.
Anyone know the story of the last one? Some member of the public just decided to drive onto a rally stage?
Rally stages have the problem of being held in public roads, so sometimes people slip by and straight up go home from work in the middle of the race lol
those cars are made soo well though, look at how effortlessly it took the hits.

@@pronoe I don't think I will... lol😂, I was just making a point about when the halo got introduced (esp in F1) there was a lot of backlash and now it just looks weird without one🤷♀️
@@tessa6384 Why stop at halo then? Let's completely closed off the car, no more open wheel. Even better, make them compete on Gran Turismo or the F1 EA game. 100% safety. Competing in F1 is unnecessarily dangerous compared to driving a sim...
@@pronoe No, cause the halo doesn't change any integral parts of open wheel racing, it only makes the cars safer. That's not the same as changing the whole sport

My first thought 0.45 was 'is that fuel?', the speed at which they extract themselves I'm guessing they thought the same, though upside down in a body of water is again another reason to get moving.

I just finished my fifth year of marshalling. Once you start, it is hard to stop. I was flagging from T8 at Mid Ohio for only my second ever weekend when that NASA crash happened. I didn't see it but it sounded like a bomb went off.

Having been in a car crash on the street and lost it in a racecar on the track, this video confirmed 3 things to me as universal.
1. It happens faster than you can imagine
2. It's over before you have time to process
3. The first thing you think about is jumping out of the car lmao

Probably because it was pre rally testing it was a road that wasn't closed off. So it was just open traffic

Damn, how much wider the Indy car cams are compared to the ones from Formula 1. Even compared to the normal onboard, their helmet camera is wider
The helmet cam Indy used to use was integrated on the top of the helmet so could be higher quality whereas F1 adopted the driver eye tech from FE where the camera is integrated inside the helmet and much smaller.

i feel like the worst part of these is that if the flaggers dont flag in time, stuff like 4:03 happens where another racer crashes into it well after the initial impact was settled.

Rally crashes allways happened to scare me the most. Dunno if it's due to I witnessed one being in the crowd start 80ies or if it's just due to the fact that rallying is another ballgame on the insanity barometer.
