Yes - the idea of SAFT is to get an improved spatial resolution and an improved signal/noise ratio. The results show that improvements by approximately one order of magnitude are possible both regarding the resolution and the S/N ratio.

Depends on your weld. Generally speaking yes, but for some cases TFM might be better suited.
