I had one from new in 2000. Did 140000 miles in it in 4.5 years. It felt faster than 103 Bhp and it held the road really well. The short throw gear change was also enjoyable to use. Great memories 😊
As an owner for the last 14 years, I disagree with her negative points. I've never found the non-adjustable steering wheel to be an issue, as the driving position is spot-on anyway. The interior design has aged remarkably well, albeit moreso on 'phase 2' cars which have a darker interior, and I'm sure the quality is no worse compared with other cars of that era. That factory bodykit is a work of art which completely differentiates it from the rest of the mk5 range, which admittedly look a bit dowdy. Fantastic car.
I disagree totally with your view on the body styling I bought one 9 months old back in the day in the same colour because I absolutely loved the way it looked and I done 88k in that car and apart from basic serving I never spent a penny on it the best car I ever owned wish I still had it fabulous car and great fun .
Red not the best colour for this car.. But fair play for a 1.6 it packs a mean punch.. You certainly wont shake this off your tail easily down a twisty road. Despite only haveing a 100hp.
I reckon thats the best looking body kit on any car

We look back with nostalgia but cars today are light years better. Rose tinted glasses, eh!
Slow slow slow. The engine was flat as a fart
