    By far the best, most reasonable, most well thought-out boxing analysis on youtube. So great to have you back.

    I think Edwin Rosario also always (usually) kept his head behind his hands.

    • @boxinginfo

      Yes he did excellent example was his early fights and especially the 1 round w/Roberto Elizondo. That technique broke down when he was crowded by JL Ramirez and Chavez. When forced to the ropes his head would instinctively lean forward.

    Just on Mayweather - someone once wrote that one of the keys to his success was that he had almost managed to find a loophole where he managed to remove the fighting aspect from boxing.
    Not a knock on Floyd but always thought it was a great description of his style

    Errol Spence reminds me a bit of Hagler. Lomachenko is so fluid it's hard to make a comparison. Reminds a little bit of a specific fight when James Toney fought Adolpho Washington.
    Looks like Lomachenko vs Walters is happening in November.

    Would be interesting to know if the same sort of discussions happened when Marciano died, Between him and Ali

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      I don't think so, Marciano was a recluse compared to Ali.

      +boxinginfo cool, thank you for the insight, I had noticed the Floyd Ali who was greater being discussed by a few channels and was wondering if journalists had compared other great fighters present at that time after a past champ had passed

    PS Just watched Duran-Hagler for fun. If ever there was a case to be made for 15 rounds, this was it.

    • @arnoldwayne5402
      @arnoldwayne5402 8 лет назад +1

      Duran was doing well in that fight, but his conditioning really let him down; you could see him catching his breath in the championship rounds. Then again, credit goes to haggler for being so dam persistent

    Interesting thought on FMJ.
    Interesting how you represent the "modern" view of liking hard contact fighting yet worrying about the health of the boxer. I get that, and I guess I agree. Although it goes against the "take all comers" attitude I've always respected and liked. Especially in an era of Mayweather Jr..
    I try not to listen to him much, but did you hear Francesa saying that Joe Louis was better than Ali?
    I was in 4th grade when he fought Frazier for the first time. I remember that everybody knew who they wanted- because their dad (not likely mom) told them who they wanted!
    He was the ONLY unifier in the world. No politician, no other "person of peace" nobody else. He was the most recognized person in the world for 30-40 years. Maybe until another sports figure- Michael Jordan- came along.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад +1

      My take on the heavy contact guys is- its okay for them to fight each other I'm not down with them going at it 3-4 times like Gatti and Ward and Vazquez with R Marquez.
      -
      -Barrera and Morales along with Pacquiao-M Marquez were matchups of boxer/punchers the damage was limited compared to what we watched last Saturday.
      -
      On Ali, I agree with everything you said and still do not believe he has been eclipsed or suplanted not even by Jordan, Ali's impact was widespread I would ask if throngs of people would show up and follow him all around Zaire or Manila if he were to play there, I would think not.

    • @fairalways
      @fairalways 8 лет назад

      Agreed. I meant that Jordan was perhaps as recognized. But by no stretch of the imagination was he ever a unifier!

    who wins fantasy fights islander: Monzon/golovkin, napoles/basilio, and chavez/Ortiz all 15 rounds?

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      My gut tells me Govkin BUT Monzon would have 5" in height and I don't know how much in reach. From your last question last time Hagler over Golovkin. My gut tells me Basilio by cuts and Chavez really big over Ortiz

      boxinginfo interesting, how would u see chavez/buchanan islander, and do u think buchanan speed and movement beats chavez? also, how would u see a chavez/barney ross fight playing out at lightweight and a briscoe/golovkin at 160?

    • @arnoldwayne5402
      @arnoldwayne5402 8 лет назад

      last one islander, who wins between a prime 1965 ali against holmes and a prime 1990 chavez vs tzue?

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      Chavez over Buchanan (didn't have anything to hurt or hold him off with) Barney Ross I'm not sure he had trouble with pressure guys like Canzoneri and Armstrong (when he was old) Briscoe vs Golovkin not sure b/c I'm not sure how well Golovkin can take a punch from a big strong Middleweight who would sell out ot land them.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      In both fights the guy who lost the real one would win them if they were in their respective primes I would take Chavez on the night he beat Rosario which I consider his absolute best no question.

    Just watched this, Lomachenko stepped-up, or Martinez grew old. Thought the plan would be Mikey Garcia next but Garcia looks like he's not going to be in the same division any more. Shame 'cos I don't think anyone stands out at lightweight for Garcia.

    brook/gg was just made, what are your thoughts on this islander? Personally, i havent seen enough of brook to make a judgement but based on the leap in weight it seems to be a stretch for him to win. Also, i just checked his record and i cant see him having the power to keep gg honest either. Honestly this dosent do much for golovkin's legacy

    Froid always fought very defensive and dirty. Not shit I ever liked to see.

    • @031ish
      @031ish 8 лет назад

      No he didn't. When he was younger he was very aggressive but since he started having hand problems he started punching less and being more defensive.

    • @hawkermustang

      031ish At welterweight I mean.

    • @031ish
      @031ish 8 лет назад

      hawkermustang Moving up in weight to fight bigger fighters and having hand problems for as long as he has obviously will make him be less offensive.

    • @hawkermustang
      @hawkermustang 8 лет назад

      031ish He is still and overrated douchebag.

    • @031ish
      @031ish 8 лет назад

      hawkermustang Yes he can be a douchebag but I think by many people hes underrated because a lot of people dont like him and they let that cloud their judgement. Its like most thing people complain about with Floyd Ali did the exact same thing. Like the clinching in the pac fight. Ali clinched Foreman in their fight 3 times as much.

    Ok islander, fantasy throwback review, we know what happened when Chavez fought whitaker in 1993, most people(myself included) feel whitaker won. At the same time, both guys were slightly past prime; How would u see a Chavez vs whitaker fight had it happened at lightweight In lets say 87-88? Do u think it would have played any different?

  • @arnoldwayne5402
    @arnoldwayne5402 8 лет назад +1

    Here we go again islander, it seems golden boy wants to pull another pacquiao/mayweather debacle; they plan marinating a fight between canelo/gg until sept 2017. So disapointed, boxing is so full of shit today
