Hah. The whole time you were running PSH I was hollering at the screen "you're way too far right pal". You literally took the hardest line down that rapid. Bet you'll no better next time but way to hang in there with the roll.
Pure Screaming Hell bears an amazing resemblance to Meat Grinder on the South fork of the American river in California. Though I think meat Grinder actually has more going on and we call it a class III.
Almost any Cali rapid is rated by western boaters a class below comparable rapids back East. Ya'll have some badass gradient we just don't have in these worn down hills. Not to mention true expedition runs we have little of either. I LOVE the Gauley but it can't hold a candle to rivers of the same volume in the high Sierra's. And there's nothing here that compares to the upstream runs on the American, Feather or Kings.
@@paulherring8959 Paddled the gauley once when I drove back east, was expecting a class III/IV and felt like I'd paddled a II/III when I was done,. That looked like a good play spot :)
