Lauren you are such a hard worker! I get tired just watching you, but it is so satisfying I can't stop looking :) Just thought I'd share that I've always used tack cloth the way you were demonstrating by keeping it folded. I just learned that the "proper" technique is to open it all the way up and then scrunch it up in your hand and wipe the dust away (re-scrunch as it becomes less tacky). I found that the tack cloth picked up way more dust and I didn't throw so many away :) Shout out to Nieman for the great video editing!

yes, I opened it and then re folded it 🤣 that is so tacky lol thanks for watching!

I'm the same! I get exhausted just watching her, but I used to be young and worked 80 hours a week PLUS did stuff like that too. And now I'm just flat worn out. But I still like watching people do what all I used to do. I was given a small round table by The Bombay Co. that is kind of Art Deco looking and the finish looks like Bakelite, but I'm not sure what it is exactly. I've gotta do more research. So now I'm wanting to refinish furniture again. I did everything from having a garden and canning food to reselling at flea markets, cross-stitching, quilting, writing, cooking like crazy, jewelry making, ETC. Seeing Lauren makes me realize why people used to be amazed at how hard I worked. But it was just my way of life. I didn't think there was any other way. And I always had so much I wanted to do and get done.
I'm amazed at that paint roller. 15:37 My dad used to paint houses as his side job and I would have loved to have shown him that! He was a firefighter as his main job, but painted houses on his off days. They have so much new stuff now! But he used Sherwin Williams exclusively, even back then! He was a firefighter from 1960-1982 and painted houses from 1965-whenever Mama made him stop. He lived to be 95 and died in 2010, or he'd be painting still, I'm sure. He also gardened too.
26:50 Ok, so now I'm wanting to redo my stairs. I don't even know what's under the ugly carpet. I bought this house in 2005 and have wanted to do something with the stairs ever since. And I'm loving that blue!

That Bottom Stair, where you have just the white paint, you should put the name of your AirBnB in fancy script . Just a suggestion. Lovely job Vicki K

So lovely! I can't wait to see what the doors look like when you get to them. I love those original doors! I would love to walk up those stairs in an Air B&B. That would feel like a vacation destination, for sure!

I’m probably going to be keeping them pretty much the same! May use a bit of restore a finish to the doors but I also love the rustic old world feel of the doors too!

Love how that stairway turned out. I’m disabled and it came way to early in my life! I was a worker and I so enjoyed it. Nothing more fulfilling after a day’s work and seeing your results! Watching you work makes me happy for you and what you and Neinum are accomplishing! God’s blessings on you both!

I'm disabled too and it came when I was only 44. (63 now.) But I used to work soooo hard. And I basically broke my body down doing it, but it was nice while it lasted. I just wish I had taken better care of myself.

Great job on the stairs they are no easy feat, btw the back of the stair is called a riser !
When I saw you bought a cordless belt sander I was quite surprised, I immediately thought you would kill through those batteries in 15-30 min. I would definitely recommend corded tools when working on the house for detailed work you just can't beat them. .

The stairs (since you asked) are just a paint grade pine. I think the glue you are fighting, is where plastic/rubber stair treads once were. They were very common, and probably glued down. Best to cover that type of wood. It really isn’t meant to be stained, for a finished look. What you ended up with is perfect. The stain is opaque, and covering the risers with the paper was spot on. Not for nothing, but I have two sets of oak stairs, that are beautiful. I ended up putting carpeting down the center of them! I hated doing it, but wood steps are dangerous. I had three people, (myself included) and all of my dogs take headers down them! I had enough, and put the carpet down. It actually looks great, with the wood showing on either side, and much less painful. Lol. Something we don’t usually think of, until it happens.
