    An agency or hospital can dump the nurse at anytime, or change the rate at any time. If you need to break a contract, don’t feel bad for the recruiter, agency, vendor, or hospital. It’s business and they’re making a lot of money off you.

And it’s very crazy in Vegas!. So heads up to all travelers.... don’t do an assignment in Vegas!!... the health care there sucks!!... been their done that... won’t go back!!

    I've never been added to a DNR list yet, but I've met a few nurses who made the DNR list. It seems like a pretty big hospital especially with how interconnected the Travel Nurse community is. Cool video, thanks for sharing!

    My wife agreed to her first NP contract and they were going to send her to Scottsdale. We then had some marital problems come up, and we thought she had better stay home to get us worked out. Found out it would give her a black mark on her traveling resume, so she said she would sign the contract. Ended up sending her to a Indian Reservation in the higher elevations of AZ. Had to repack all her summer clothes for winter ones! I said that's what happens when you try to back out of a contract! Into week three of a eight week contract.

    My husband was a locums as a CRNA for 15 years. Almost every contract he signed had a 30 day out clause, which worked for both the hospital and the CRNA. If either one wanted to be released from the contract you had to give 30 days notice. No mention in the contract of any penalties. Sounds like different fields of nursing have different types of contracts. Also with current covid conditions, contracts are being written differently. Always read through any contracts.
    Great information.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath

      True true. It's worse now with Covid but even before that there were penalties and consequences for breaking contract. I'm sure you are right about maybe being different depending on field of work.

    I don’t think the different agencies know about where you worked though. I worked with aureus and I quit an assignment two weeks after starting. I was dropped from aureus. I worked with Titan right after. They never asked anything about my assignments with aureus. They just asked dates I worked with them. Everything went great with Titan. I’m now with Aya. Aya did ask every assigment I took with Titan and aureus. I didn’t even document the one contract I left with aureus and was never asked. I know a tech who was a travel tech for 14 years. She left at least 3 assignments in those 14 years and easily got another assignment with diff agencies. So this vendor thing I don’t think is true. I do think if you get a black mark at a hospital system that most likely you will be black listed from that facility but then you just don’t apply to that system.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  Месяц назад

      There are certainly vendors who do blacklist. It's not all, but don't mess around with health trust! As a recruiter now, I would hope my relationship with my travelers is of more value than quitting and leaving. I understand needing to back out and I will help my travelers do so. But walking away and running to another agency is selfish in my opinion. I had a traveler do this to me last week. No call. No show. I am responsible for $1300 right before christmas. Please consider your recruiter and others at the agency who are people too, with families and bills to pay just like you. (And I don't mean you personally of course. Im not suggesting you've done this.) I just think travelers don't understand or consider the consequences beyond just not being able to work with a certain agency anymore.

    ICU nurses are amazing. I used to work at a level I Trauma hospital and after seeing the RN’s in action, I decided that if I were ever unfortunate enough to come in as a trauma patient, I’d demand to be treated only by the RN’s. Get the doctor out of there.

      The nurse loses their job. Kinda unfair isn't it? Typically there's an apology from the staffing agency then together you try to find a job quickly. It hurts the most when a nurse has found and signed a short term lease that they then have to break.

      @@NoOrdinaryPath The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church still maintains separate conferences for blacks and whites. (you can google this) Why? This was started after the civil war for good purposes but why continue to this day? ALSO, Seventh Day Adventists do not believe in same sex marriage and will allow for that discrimination to happen in their hospitals and schools to this day, let alone their earlier issues with treating AIDS patients. Yes, the official current website says no problem, but try dealing with this all in reality. I recall not many years ago when traveling on business to Dallas, TX and calling the Texas SDA conference to find a local church to attend and the first question was "Do you want a black or white church"? WOW? Maybe times have changed, but people have not. In my most recent job a couple of years ago I had a Methodist tell me I was welcome to attend church but not welcome as a member because I was was same sex married. WOW! Same would happen for sure at a Methodist or SDA hospital. This is what I meant by faith based discrimination. You are fortunate if you have not experienced it as a white male married to a women with kids traveling nurse, but this is not what many others experience.
      I totally applaud the you and the other travel nurses out there making a difference and helping in this pandemic. I just want you to be aware of the motives and beliefs of some of the institutions you are working for.
