these transcriptions extended Rachmaninoff's limited piano outputs and presever his pianism in them and do the composer a good service, some of them even remind one of his gems of melodic inventions in his symphonies and string works that pianists envy but couldn't lay their fingers on. this and Wild's own recordings of them deserve to be always returned to.
Most enjoyable, quite a feast for lovers of excessive piano noises! The sheer "over-the-topth" of "Spring Waters" is actually funny enough to provoke laughter. Others are most sensitively done; "Dreams" and "Muza" ....altho i feel that "How peaceful" and "The Isle" need less hectic treatment in the playing here. But Bravo! To get the line and the poetry which is enmeshed in all that complex texture is a real feat. Good sound, better than the Earl's own recording unfortunately done on a ghastly Baldwin piano. Thank you.
Pity you don't enjoy Rachmaninoff. Great composer and great solo arrangements of his songs by Wild. BTW, I usually don't like the sound of a Baldwin concert grand, but Wild knows how to produce a lovely tone on them. Also, Rachmaninoff was known for having a very dry sense of humor.
These beautiful transcripts will accompany me to spend more pleasantly this cold winter !!! Thank you so much for sharing this musical gem...
you did an incredible job, Mr. Miglieta ! I am forever grateful for this immense achievement, thank you!!
