I’m really glad you gave your perspective on the idea of “checking all the boxes” because in the pre-med community, it’s always so strongly encouraged. We only have so much time and energy in a day that it almost seems impossible to do everything. Thank you for this video, Hannah! ❤️❤️
Hi hannah! If it's not on your list already, I'd love to see a video about interview tips! I'm in awe that you got accepted to 2 schools in your very first cycle, and I'm sure that your amazing interview skills probably played a part!! :)
Wow that's such a nice comment Sarah, thank you! And definitely! I want to put some more thought into it because I did spend a fair chunk of time reading and preparing. But yes, I will be working on that! :)
Thank you so much for this! This put a good perpective on how I want to phrase and sort my experiences! Really amazing tips, cant wait to watch your upcoming vids👌😁
Aw I'm so glad you found it helpful Riki! I thought alot about which tips were most useful to me when I was applying, so I hope this helps out with your application as well! GOOD LUCKxxx
I live right here in calgary too and want to go to UofC, Not sure how i would do i am going to start psychology as my undergrad as its my very strong subject, i have had over 15k hours worked as a cook/chef and another 3k hours as a medical assistant in the reserves, and my only real extracurricular is that i play hockey in a beer league and competitively, competing in welding competitions and i can speak 3 languages, , but a great thing i feel i got going for me is that, is that i understand the crappy side of life, lived in poverty for most of it, spent my whole life around addicts and have suffered greatly because of them and that even my family was homeless for a year, and was a very troubled child that had been arrested many times for awfull things, and that i had completely failed high-school in every way but just enough to get a diploma and throughout my entire schooling i had almost every teacher call me dumb and for my mother to prepare to take care of me for the rest of my life, but since then i have went from 0 to 100, as i have finished upgrading my highschool grades with a 4.0 gpa, so for me it shows an incredible immense of personal growth.
Doing hockey competitively, 15k hours as a cook, 3k hours as a medical assistant, and knowing 3 languages is a lot more than a lot of people start undergrad with. I can’t tell if you’re joking or not but wow
what did you do at the women's health clinic? was it administrative tasks? I'm having a hard time finding clinical experience. could you do a video on how you found these opportunities?
It was kind of a mix between admin tasks and nurse duties (like sanitizing and stocking rooms, getting lab samples ready, preparing forms/requisitions, urine tests). That's a great video idea, I will try to talk about it more in the future, thank you!
Congrats on getting in! How did you verify your preparation for running a 10k? I know its more personal so i am always hesitant to talk about personal hobbies bc of the verifier
Thanks for the video Hannah, it was super informative 🙂 For your “training for a 10k run” did you need a verifier and if so who did you ask? I have an ec similar to that but I am unsure of who to ask
I believe I put down my brother, who trained for a 5K alongside me. However, I've also put myself down before... it's definitely confusing when it's a personal task but I think it's fine if you put down someone who you have a closer/personal relationship with!
Thank you so much for this video! Are you from Ontario? Because the OMSAS says that the extracurriculars you write in the autobiographical sketch have to be from when you were aged 16+, or is that just a recommendation?
Is it better to to do a co-op program at UTSC as pre-med or a normal program? Does co-op negatively affect my chances of getting into a prestigious medical school? BTW, I am an international student.
Hey, i just have a question about what highschool courses you took? I’m currently looking at what path i should follow in highschool to prepare for university and eventuall medical school. Did you take any AP/IB classes? If so, which ones did you take? Do you see any benefit in these classes or are they more if you only want to challenge yourself? Like would these classes prepare me for university courses or help with my university GPA?
"and I am an INCOMING CANADIAN MEDICAL STUDENT" Ya she is!!! haha loved that little change in the intro. Super excited to watch your journey
HAHAHA HELL YAH GIRL!! Thank you!!

I totally agree with that Erin! I'm so glad you found the video helpful, cheers! xx

Hi Hannah! Did you have any research presentations or publications? Love your videos by the way.
Thanks so much! I've done a few poster presentations but didn't have any publications when I was in the process of applying!
