- Here's what happens when this Korean skincare addict tries western skincare brands!
I'm a K-beauty addict through and through but every now and then a western skincare product will catch my eye! I choose mostly Korean skincare because I love the quality and value (plus results) and that has risen the bar for me when it comes to reviewing skincare. So I thought it might be fun to bring my Korean beauty perspective (and high standards) to a review with some upcoming and popular western products and brands!

Kelly try the Good Molecules brightening Toner, It's AMAZING!!! It's affordable and the ingredients are just WOW. One of my favorites.
Yeay, turn this into a series! I really wanna know your thoughts on The Inkey List, Good Molecules and TO please!!!
Hey Kelly I love watching your videos!! You’ve taught me so much about skincare and ingredients. Hope you’re staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. Just wanted to see if you could make a video of some the best items that are at Wishtrend right now. They’re having their Black Friday sale going on and I’m starting my shopping list. Anyway, Thanks for everything you do! Have a Great Day!!
They're having a black friday sale now?😅
ruclips.net/video/ef-syMJAXdw/видео.html Here's the video I did a few months ago for black Friday, wishtrend picks are the same I'd only add in the polyphenols in propolis 15% serum to the list!
I was quite surprised to learn that Allies of Skin is a Singaporean brand, especially when its packaging and product philosophy are quite western (very minimalist and functional as compared to the Asian or Korean method of multi-layering). It is not cheap though, and even in Singapore, it is charged at a premium online.
I would be super interested if you make this a series! I found your review on the skinfix cream really spot on! I liked it but felt like it left a residue on the skin. Should try the dieux instant angel moisturizer. It’s my current go to!
Hi Kelly! It was so interesting watching a video from you about non-k beauty XD. I would definitely love a whole series like this. Could you please try Paula's choice boosters and moisturizers, and the Biossance sheer mineral sunscreen? I would love to hear your opinion! :)
I am so happy you reviewed the skinfix moisturizer! I definitely feel like the body cream has way better ingredients. It has 2% colloidal oatmeal, a ton of ceramides, cholesterol, and some good oils for skin repair. I heard it is very very thick, but if you have eczema or a very dry irritated face, I feel like the body cream seems better. Plus, its cheaper, and you get 10 ounces of product. I may pick it up soon to try since i have very sensitive dry skin and eczema on my feet.
These were my thoughts, so I purchased the body cream as a winter face moisturizer.
Yes, series please. Drunk Elephant and Paula’s Choice. 😊 Would love to hear your opinions and how they compare to K or J beauty products. Maybe The Ordinary and Inkey List too?
I do have to say that Allies of Skin isn't a Western brand; it's Singaporean. Great to get your take on other brands :)
So.. technically asian beauty.. :3
It’s actually turkish
@@JenMakeupDollxo still asian
@@khanguyen4868 boggles me how turkish people scream “I’m asian too” in Asian related posts but go back to individualism when it comes to claiming the “prize.”
@@JenMakeupDollxo is turkey considered Asian beauty since the country is partly in Asia or no?
Yay! I was literally going to suggest this the other day, glad to hear your opinion on some non-Korean skincare
Nice video. How does Allies of skin peptide cream compares to DE Protini. I have tried many many peptide creams nothing came close to DE protini. I am still looking for DE dupe, any recommendations ? I have tried all the usual ones.
I love that you reviewed some non am beauty!! I do loooove me k beauty skincare but I do enjoy some western skincare too. Indie Lee and Paulas Choice are a few faves. Recently I have took the dive into Osmosis skincare. Pricey but people swear by it. I’m almost 39 and am dealing with dehydration, fine lines AND cystic hormonal acne (thyroid related my skin is well taken care of 😉)
I would love to see an in depth review of any one of those three brands! Stay healthy girl!! 💜
Have you tried Holifrog’s cleansers? I feel like they’ve gotten really popular recently.
Wow, I’ve been eyeing that Skin Fix barrier cream for a long while now. I thought myself a pretty sophisticated shopper and always look at the ingredients but never thought to look for the actual peptides. Thank you for saving me $$. Sticking to my CosRx, Pure Gold, Cetaphil, Cerave and LaRoche Posay moisturizers
More affordable Western brands you can look into are: TO, Inkey list, good molecules, versed, CeraVe, and Laroche Posay
Stay safe Kelly 🥺🥺
Yay, thanks for doing more non k-beauty, I love this!
So happy you enjoyed!
Definitely would love to see more episodes like this and would love to see you review brands like drunk Elephant, Biossance, Clinique, Tula, Dr. Jart, Estée Lauder, Farmacy, First Aid Beauty, and Fresh. If you haven’t done so already. Even if it’s just one product from each. It would be interesting to get your take on brands I’m more familiar with and see what products you think are worth (or not worth) the splurge! I Love your videos and think you are a very diversed, and trustworthy influencer!
What a bummer about the Skinfix. I was so excited to try it. I love the jar pump packaging and the fact that it doesn’t have niacinamide was a huge plus as my under eye area can’t tolerate it. It sounds like the only peptide in there is rice extract? What are your thoughts on whether the allies of skin moisturizer might potentially get those peptides into my skin better in a moisturizer vehicle versus serums? I’m not convinced that serums penetrate the skin. I love my timeless 20% vitamin C serum, but their Matrixyl Synthe 6 that I use in my evening routine, just foams up kind of like soap and feels like it just sits on the skin so I won’t be repurchasing that. I considered other peptide serum’s like the geek and gorgeous power peptides that also have.MS6 but again, if moisturizer with peptides will be more of a guarantee to get it into my skin, I’d rather go that route. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you for this very informative video!
Literally could NOT agree more about the Skinfix product ... I've been talking about this on Reddit. It's marketed as a peptide cream but IT DOESN'T CONTAIN PEPTIDES! How ridiculously MISLEADING! Shame on them. This is why I don't buy skincare from Sephora 🙄😡
My routine consists 95% of Korean and Japanese skincare (it's just SO MUCH BETTER) but if you're interested in trying some good affordable Western products, currently I'm absolutely loving The Ordinary Pycnogenol and The Ordinary Resveratrol & Ferulic (you can never have too many antioxidants, amirite?)
I just got it and wasn't impressed, thus review confirms that in returning
This is great! Hope to see more with these brands: REN skincare, more Allies of Skin products, Paulas Choice, Indie Lee, Then I Met You (cleansing balm), Deviant (cleanser), Niod, Dr Barbara Sturm, and La Mer (the concentrate serum, creme de la mer)
Hey Kelly, I would love to see you dive into some more western skincare brands! Dealers choice! I would love anything really! Just like the venturing out. I also still live the kbeauty. You are the kbeauty queen of youtube!
Loved this content and comparison of popular non-K beauty brands!! Would love to see you review the Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Oil Cleanser. It’s $28 for 6 oz. Not bad for a cleanser at Sephora. This has been my HG cleanser since it was sold at Target back in the day. It beats my second fave, the Hada Labo oil cleanser, by a good bit and takes off my daily sunscreen and thick mascara like a CHAMP. Curious what your thoughts would be!! Thanks for another great video!! ❤️💕❤️
Please turn this into a series! Would love your take on Versed and I know Glow Recipe isnt' technically Western, it is more popular in the West, as well as maybe First Aid Beauty and Honest Beauty! Recently discovered your channel and absolutely love your videos :)
I find that Krave beauty matcha hydrating cleanser ticks all the boxes, is the perfect second cleanser, and it’s $18 dollars!
I had to reply to your comment! I love Krave products, especially the Match Hemp cleanser! This is actually my HG cleanser. Most cleansers dry out my skin and make my rosacea flare, but not this cleanser. You should also try their Great Barrier Relief serum is also great.
If I were money, I'd buy Allies of Skin entire line - even though I didn't see results with their C serum. I'm just so drawn to their stuff.
Wow, another fabulous review. Variety for sure. So, a new series? Yes, all good.
You should def try paula choice! I think you'd really love the omega serum and moisturizer
Raven Uribes Paula’s choice are so good!! All fragrance and essential oil free just what Kelly likes 💕
@@sunshine9993 yes! I call it Kelly's Kriteria😉😅
Fedra Ruiz-Aleman haha I recognize you from some skincare groups on facebook 😅 is the internet a small world too??
Haha thank you for reviewing and pointing out the lack of peptides in the Skinfix cream. So funny, I did not realize that part, but really was hesitant to try it due to the price. Definitely will skip based on this!!
I would love you to do european brands (ok french 😆) like Avène, Bioderma, Uriage, Vichy, La Roche Posay but please don't do Huda !! The packaging is beautiful but that's it.
I wanted to try the SkinFix peptide thus started to look for reviews. Strangely there werent a lot of reviews online, and both Hyram and No BS beauty didnt mention anything about the lack of peptide in this product. Some on reddit said it stinks their sensitive skin or causing breakouts. Ok, will put a hold on this one for now.
I would love a review of some good molecules
Hi Kelly, in last video you said "it is a good product but not an excellent product"
I would like to know a product preferably a toner or an essence that you think is excellent....
Alice dsouza i guess one of them might probably be primera seed essence
Excellent toner is Keep Cool and Soothe Bamboo Toner!
@@KellyDriscoll Thanks it is in my wishlist
Hi Kelly!! LOVE your videos, this would be great as a series! It would be great if you reviewed versed, good molecules and milk
I would definietly love a series! I would like to hear your thoughts on Avène products, their mineral sunscreen also. Also what do you think about La Roche Posay and The ordinary? Thank you so much!
Skinfix used to be sold at drugstores and Ulta before they re-branded to Sephora. I used this cream before this, and it was absolutely fabulous. It was also about $20 cheaper. Used it again recently, and meh. Definitely reformulated and isn’t the same in any way, which sucks.
I definitely axed the Wishful exfoliator because I just don’t love physical exfoliants anymore. I am surprised to see that you like it but I’m glad.
I also am a little sad because I just recently started using the Skinfix peptide moisturizer and I do like it a lot because it’s so moisturizing but I didn’t realize there wasn’t really any peptides. 🤔❤️ Kelly could you review the Inkey list peptide moisturizer they just released on Sephora? I’m super curious to know if it’s a good product and dupe for the DE protini peptide. ❤️
Yeah I'm disappointed with skinfix, not sure if the hydrolyzed rice is the case for all their peptide products or not. The huda scrub was hands down the surprise for me! I really don't like or use physical scrubs either but this is more like peeling gel so much kinder to the skin! I'll have the check that inkey list product out!
Kelly Driscoll I know I’m glad though that I’m working through mini’s of the Skinfix vs the full size. I have The Inkey list peptide moisturizer and I’m really undecided about it so I would love to hear your input. 🥰
I value your opinion so would love this to be a series.
Great video! The cleanser is intriguing I might have to try that in the future
How about a video about products you think are excellent and not just good in terms of hydration, brightening, anti inflammatory and redness reduction category
When I find excellent products I share them, it's not always common!
@@KellyDriscoll glad that you are so honest and that you care so much about viewers while delivering information in your videos by being honest
Can u try the snail serum from Endocare Tensage. They contain PCA which is snail mucin from Secret of C.aspera Snail filtrate. Not all snails are the same and this type of snail seem to be superior(as they claim it to be idk). Ive heard very positive reviews and my friend used it and said the result was so fast that she was surprised so Id love to hear ur reviews on it. And it should be used with tretinoin or derma roller or peeling to enhance penetration and its ability to repair collagen and ellastin or else it just stays on top as moisturizer I think. It does contain a little bit of fragrance but if it really work then I will continue to use. Thank you and love you 💜
Very good video idea! Please keep doing these once in a while. You are on point with price though; all the western brands that I prefer (paulas choice for example) are more expenses than average k beauty
Hey Kelly! I love your content/reviews. I am wondering if you have ever reviewed affordable western skincare brands inkey list, the ordinary, good molecules, indeed?
Thanks for the video
another this or that video suggestion,
Benton aloe BHA toner vs Paula's choice 2% BHA
Iope fermented essence vs Hera fermented essence
I definitely want to try some PC products!
Thanks for the reviews on Allies of Skin! I've been interested in their products and been seeing good reviews. but man, those prices! Also, aren't they an Asian skincare brand? As far as I know, they are a Singaporean brand.
Products from Singapore are much more expensive than Korean. Everything from Singapore is expensive.
@@e.mclaughlin8052 Oh, I'm Singaporean so I know how expensive things are here. But yeah, I'm always shocked when I find out the prices of local brands. Like I want to support y'all but the prices.
Kelly, have you tried the Be Plain Bamboo Hydrating Ampoule? I've just ordered it but I can't find any review 😬
Erin K because of your comment I looked up the brand on Yesstyle and omg the ingredients look so good in all their products and no fragrance! Thanks for this comment lol 🤩
@@jasminerogers8193 you're welcome! I've got mine already and having good impression so far 😆
Erin K their vitamin brightening ampoule looks so good 😍 have you tried it??
@@jasminerogers8193 I haven't but I want to try them all 😂
Erin K me too omg I’m about to place an order In a week or so 😅
Please try biossance, i think you would like omega repair
Always interesting as usual. Can you tell me the lipstick/gloss you are wearing today? It's very pretty!
Would love to hear your reviews on TO, inkey list, paulas choice, biossance, cerave. It seems like it may be hard to get hold of some k beauty products for sometime now.
Thank you for the skinfix review. 👍🏼
I love your reviews! Xoxo
It's a shame about the skinfix cream as I've used their body products and their facial cleanser before and liked them. They are targeted at super dry eczema prone skin (which I have) and the textures are rich/occlusive for that reason. I haven't tried that cream and won't as it's a lot to pay for a fairly basic moisturiser, but it's a pity they have allowed their maketing to go mad. There was nothing wrong with providing really good basics and trying to hit the anti aging market without buying appropriate ingredients sucks tbh. I don't appreciate over hyped products and false promises. I have no interest in the huda beauty range tbh as I have sensitive intolerant skin and her products are heavily fragranced. The allies of skin looks fab, but OUCH that's too much money for me. They may be targeting the drunk elephant buyers or the Tatcha devotees, who have a higher budget to spend. Best wishes.
Skinfix is works for me too. I have eczema as well and i try all the drugstore brand moisturizer but it doesn’t work. Though i dont want to spend so much money in skin care but if u really have a sensitive skin u have to invest so hard for that. I never realized that is a false promise 😅 I forgot to check the content of that product if there’s really a peptide because I almost amazed, it seems a magic for me. I dont even bother for the price either 😅 my gosh! Haha well good thing I still have a chance to return the product. $67 is not worth it for scamming people. Sorry for my broken english. Im not fluent. I just want to share my experience. Thank you!
Hi Kelly, a series would be great. Please do F.A.B. ultra hydration repair cream. Thx
hi does the allied skin peptide bottle not cap but pumper is easy to take off?
Yes please😊 Love your reviews!!! Timeless, Versed, Inky list, CeraVe, Beauty Bay
For the price the wishful exfoliator is too expensive and has too many irritants...
AOS sadly has a lot of comedogenics... especially at the top with the cetearyl olivate 😭😭😭
Huda Beauty's skincare line is formulated by a Korean Skincare lab.
I don’t like using products with vegetable oil IDK I have this suspicion my face could burn. I mean after all people use vegetable oil to cook with and my physco aunt uses it to get a tan 🙄
Yeah it's always a little odd to see it in products, lovely emollient though. I imagine it's different than the oil you buy at the grocery store when formulating into a skincare product.
I’m having trouble getting my cleanser to rinse off properly is that a bad product or is there a trick to it
Teagan Smith what cleanser and how are you using it?
Natalia Gomez sukin foaming facial cleanser, rubbing in my face with water then rinsing it off with water. Thanks 😊
Teagan Smith I checked it out and it says you’re supposed to remove it with a face cloth 🤔 Try that and if you don’t really like how it feels after, you should probably try another cleanser. If it helps, I prefer the Farmacy balm as a first cleanser and the Krave or First Aid Beauty cleansers for a second cleanser.
Natalia Gomez thankyou so much!!!! 😄
Please review Isntree Greentea toner! It has amazing ingredients
Please review allies is skin retinal scream and other retinal cream product
It does have lots of peptides. They’re in the form of proteins amd extracts LOLOL
Please review Shiseido skincare. Tula and Cerave. Thank you
Please do a the body shop and Rituals try on
I like Image skincare. Can you make a video on that?
Please do an Avène review :D
Youth to the people, clinique, cerave
I've only used Huda beauty, but just the make up. I love her liquid matte lipsticks and power bullets. I find that a lot of her products even her foundation is heavily fragranced, so was thinking the exfoliator would be the same. That allies of skin cream costs a bomb!! I hate Western skin care, it's all so overpriced. K and J beauty are much better quality yet so much more affordable, wile Western drug store things of the same price tend to suck
Hi kelly!! What are the best and cheapest kbeauty cleansers?😅❤❤❤
I like heimish all clean green foam!
Huda beauty products are full of fragrance, yikes no thanks. I agree with you. Is an obvious pass for me.
Kelly, do u use the ordinary?
I have used a few products from them in the past, I like the concept and price point but don't find them to be amazing.
The Ordinary please 😇
Notif squaaad!!
Yaaas!🙌
Would love to see you review some things from drunk elephant or youth to the people :)
Do Elemis please 😊 thanks 😉
Holy cr*p, I'm 12 minutes late...yikes Australian $220 on cult beauty 👀😱😔, no matter how good it is I ain't paying that. The cleanser aud$70, and the same with the Wishful it is a nope 🙅🏼... I will stick to my affordable Korean skincare instead, for that price I could get the best brand out there.
I know what you mean! The prices are insane, you can make an entire routine for that price!! 😳
I hate Huda and her makeup brand she stole ideas and creativity from indie makeup artist how sad
This is possibly an unpopular opinion, but Huda? My eye is twitching! Fragrance, alcohol, and a branding thief... I really wish you wouldn’t have given her any attention. I am an OG subscriber, I realize that means nothing, but I am disappointed. Sorry buds.
