My son got accepted about 2 weeks after he applied. We're waiting to see what other acceptances he gets, but PSU is smart to send acceptance letters to top applicants right away. It's allowing us to really look into Penn State a lot closer than if he had been accepted in January, when most colleges send out their acceptance letters.

It's more advanced. * He compiled more than 250 SSL service hours. * He was the percussion section leader in the marching band, as well as the advanced band. * He was on the varsity tennis team. * He was a founder and leader of the Experimental Physics club. * He maintained straight A grades every semester * He achieved a 4.89 weighted GPA * He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts (he's also an artist) * He received the Maryland Governor's award for being in the top 5% of students in the state. * He received the President's Award for Educational Excellence. * He was a member of the My Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honors Society, the Science National Honor Society, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the National Honor Society. * Played drums in a rock band that won the school talent competition 2 years in a row. So, it was obvious that PSU would want him. He was also accepted to Virginia Tech, NC State, Maryland, and Purdue. We're sending him to Maryland because none of these schools is willing to help an upper-middle-class family with tuition and we live in Maryland.
