    This channel is packed full of useful and entertaining videos. This guy is as much an artist as he is an instructor. These videos would still be relavent 100 years from now. I've seen a LOT of survival/bushcraft/camping videos, this channel is a cut above the rest.

    Another idea could be, using the bead tube wrapped in gorilla tape and then wrapped in beeswax coated hemp line and then inside the tube you can place tinder tabs, ferro rod with striker, and some stormproof matches or a mini bic and now you have a pocket fire kit!!!

    Good enough to be a john-fishing kit .... A stubby aluminum cigar tube (with screw cap) could also do the job. A good waterless desert fishing kit. Catch a small mouse, have a small (rubber?) mouse toy, make a mousy-like fur item, or a (rubber) lizard-like critter. Attach to line, walk and drop on open desert near critter path. Jerk-bait the lure. Wait for hawk, falcon, or critter to grab, desert "fishing" at its best.

    I was looking at that line flare on the front of your hobo rod and it occured to me some flashlights have a flare like that on the front. Went to the thrift store and checked through their flashlights. Found the one with the best curve on the flare. Picked up the perfect "rod" for a buck. Gutted the insides and have a nice kit compartment. It has to be tested out for cast but looks great. 🤗
    Thanks for the idea.😀

    Used what I learned from your video to cheat lol. Had a very old "survival" knife with the hollowed handle and cheap compass that I unscrewed the blade. Was already wrapped in cord and had a lanyard hole. Plugged the hole with a screw then put hooks, line, weights, and floats in the handle. Went from useless cheap knife to great hobo fishing kit. The plus is the compass does work, so have a backup compass.

      the snake knot he tied is actually a bowline knot. once you start repeating it, then it becomes a snake knot

    • @LShapedAmbush
      @LShapedAmbush 5 лет назад +1

      @@spudboy2865 I don't agree. With a bowline, you bring the tag end up through the bight, around the standing end and down through the bight again . Remember the old mnemonic: "The rabbit comes out of the hole, around the tree and back into the hole." In the video, he puts the tag end down through the bight from the top, around the standing end and back up out of the bight. So , the rabbit is going down in the hole instead of coming out. Tie it both ways with two pieces of cord and you will have two different knots. Very similar to a bowline and it doesn't seem slip either.

    • @spudboy2865
      @spudboy2865 5 лет назад

      @@LShapedAmbush After replaying it you are correct. I didn't notice he had gone through the hole from the same direction both times when I first watched the video.

    Use an empty box of matches. Put in a couple of hooks and weights. Wrap some line around the box and secure it using two rubber bands, one to secure the line. One to hold the box closed. Place in a small plastic baggie to keep dry if you wish. Can use a piece of a branch as a float and a small branch as a pole. You end having your basic cane pole outfit ....
