I've studied Musical Theatre for 15 years. And in my experience and people I've met, only about 3 have nailed that entrance. That is an INCREDIBLY hard entrance. Remember, she said she's never sang in front of a large audience. Whilst Memories is not one of my fav songs, I will admit that she is OUTSTANDING. She sings from her soul. Every great legendary singer in history, has always sang from the soul and heart. From Ohio: Way to go Susan, and I will be hoping you win.

It's typical that she'd get criticised for the opening, but then one mustn't forget that the other acts all had superb backing to support them. She also had to wait until the last and had a massive build up, she knew she had a lot to live up. Considering the pressure she was under she done superbly. She was so gracious at Simon's apology. A tiny bit unsteady for a minute or so and then...OVER THE MOON! When Susan hit "Touch me, it's so easy to leave me...", Elaine Page herself would surely have to sit up and take notice.
She's an amazing singer, and she's actually a break in the trend of "talent doesn't matter, as long as they look hot" going on with singers now days. It's a singer that has gotten famous around the world for her talent, unlike the numerous pop-puppets now days.
After having just listened to Nicole Scherzinger and Barbra Streisand herself sing this very song, if Ms. Boyle still sounds good with little to no training, it's because she's truly spectacular.
