Might be this man, Raymond Leroy Melms, 1917-1992, life long resident of Port Huron Michigan. The military unit is the 320th Infantry Regiment, which was part of the 80th Infantry Division, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe. I can't make out the company letter. Cool helmet, fantastic condition.
You are very welcome Alex, I enjoy your videos. I wanted to add this to the information, on 7 May 1945 the 80th Division was stopped at the Enns River, near Kirchdorf, just east of Munich, when the ceasefire was announced.
Alex ... it was probably some quick thinking GI... it is possible that the helmet would have been confiscated... I will keep my eyes open for some early Soviet helmets
Nice collection You hawe there mate, unfortunately most of my own collection is from later eras so i can't help You at the moment, but it is interesting to see the similarities to the very early swedish helmets, but the Russian helmets had a slightly lower profile (probably an adaption to the new high velocity projectil weapons introduced in the early 1900s i guess) and did not had the front emblem, there also seem to be an improved face protection piece on the Russian helmets. Thank You for charing those pictures from Your collection!
@@alexwarstory Thank you Alex, I have a similar helmet that was collected from Crete in the 70s you can still see the decal , I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 & my interest is in that major invasion by the Fallschirmjager & Australia, newzealand we’re defending Crete

I'm very close to Port Huron MI. It's about 45 min drive from my house. Just North of Detroit

SSH 39 seen in "Come and see" the 1985 warmovie.
6:10 i see this type of helmet regular in finland, or very similar type with the red star
Attention! In Europe it is possible, to find medieval helmets.
Port Huron...like the lake..."Hyurr-On".
It has sentimental value to you!
either the G.I was forced to mislabel it because of some regulation or else he was an idiot who paid a lot of dollars for a 'worthless' helmet lol.

Great video Alex , what would the price approximately be on the relic fallschirmjager helmet
Depends on condition but it should be around $500-800 in same condition
