    Go to your local dump and get a sharps container for the used blades. They can be recycled. Don't throw in trash. Dangerous for your garbage man

      I just use a dremel with a grinding bit to remove the edge entirely and then wrap in the wax paper and throw into the trash.

      I stick mine in an empty altoids tin. Been 5 years since I started shaving old school (first was a safety, now a DE shavette) and the tin is barely full. If I can’t send the blades of to recycle, I’m gonna wrap the tin in duct tape and toss it. Safe way to dispose of what I’m assuming is 400-500 blades.

    You didn’t get a close shave because you only shaved with the grain. No razor out there will give you a bbs unless you shave against the grain. Doesn’t matter how aggressive it is.
    You need a proper lather, good technique, and the right blades for your hair and skin type. Also, some razors you’ll find shave better ATG than others, it’s a matter of trial and error.
    I’ve tried all the hensons, and mild was my favorite one, paired with a feather blade. I get BBS, it shaves as close as any of the other aggressions with a feather blade and shaving against the grain.

      No your incorrect. Its just a bad razor on a copy cat handle. The gillete model theyve copied was better 100 years ago and still is. No, do not shave against the grain. That statement alone proves, your shavers are just as bad. A good razors works perfectly well with out shaving against the grain...

    I think, for a closer shave, either switching the RK blade (which is a mild blade) to a sharper blade like Feather or switching over to the AL13-Medium might be better.

    What about the cut whisker extraction? I am lazy so I might go a day or two without shaving. Does this razor clog up with whiskers?

    i wanted to like the henson (mild) tried and tried for months with it, and never had a great time. eventually sold it, and bought an aylsworth apex SS with both plus and standard plates.

      And how is the Alythworth compared to Henson for you?

    • @Waabajack

      @@felixbrown2677 i sold the henson mild, it's garbage for my face. i do want to try the henson medium though.
      my rotation is
      karve overlander in brass
      apex SS in both stadnard and plus plate.
      karve overlander and apex standard are pretty similar, and both are fairly efficient with no irritation.
      apex plus plate is my go to usually when i got more than 2 days of growth. it's wildly efficient and smooth.

    Oh, and I saw not so long ago a video about a Henson razor that you can loose up the handle just a little bit so it makes the blade to be exposed more by the tiniest bit than if you'd just screw the handle all the way up. So it supposedly makes the shave more aggressive thus more smooth.

    Definitely try different blades, it makes a huge difference. I bought a medium after being disappointed with the mild, but tried Astra and Personna blades, and it gives me a really close shave. Also, need to do 2 passes, I do first with the grain, then second against the grain.
    It’s a real bummer Henson doesn’t sell just the plates. There’s no reason why they can’t sell all 3 heads and one handle so you can use the one that works best for you.

    • @felixbrown2677
      @felixbrown2677 3 месяца назад

      Sorry, but I'm a bit confused. You mean you tried the Astra and Personna on the medium? or the mild?
      2 passes with which one?
      I've read someone saying the mild needs 3 passes for them, but medium does it in 2

    • @jhonaker76
      @jhonaker76 3 месяца назад

      @@felixbrown2677 I bought a mild first and used RK blades only, and wasn't happy with the results. I then bought a medium and got a bit better results with RK blades. I then bought both Astra and Personna blades and tried them in the mild version, and got good results with the Astra blades and the best results so far with the Personna.
      I have been using Personna blades in both Razors and use both of them whenever I feel like a change.
      I usually do two passes, and just a third for touch up on my neck only. Both razors seem to do fine with only 2 passes plus one extra for the neck for me so far.

      Also, as others said, blades do really matter. You can check out Henson's website where you can see the blade exposure range, with different blades:
      Mild: .0007" - .0014"
      [.018 - .036mm]

    If you want to make each blade last longer, leave it in a glass of baby oil after every use. You'll get 5 more shaves out of every razor.

  • @PSCThrillSeeker
    @PSCThrillSeeker Месяц назад +3

    First all razor and blade combination is key, try a different blade. Second; to get a really close shave you need to do a two or three pass shave. It about beard reduction. 1st pass with the grain, 2nd pass across the grain, 3rd pass against the against the grain. Also mapping your beard is key. If i were you I'd watch some of ohio shaves videos.

  • @romrez4130
    @romrez4130 5 месяцев назад +2

    RK blades are good for one to two shaves. Try a different blade first. I’ve had great success with the Gillette platinum blue blades. I own a Henson as well. The AL13 and the AL13 medium. The blade gap may be too mild for you. Consider the AL13 medium.

  • @jcluns

    No matter the shaver, it takes 2 sometimes 3 passes going down, up and against the grain. Don't knock Henson shavers for what he is saying. All the expert shavers on RUclips, geofatboy, ohio shaves and many others get baby smooth shaves with henson and other brands using proper techniques.

    expecting bbs from wtg? no matter of aggression here. it’s the matter of atg and specifically for the mustache area you should hold the razor in a deep angle. i guess such this angle won’t work with henson in terms of the design

  • @Darkspeaker05
    @Darkspeaker05 5 месяцев назад +4

    hey man, you can absolutely get a baby butt smooth shave with this razor, you might want a sharper blade. Either way, no single blade razor can do perfect shave without a good technique and only one pass with the grain, even with the sharpest blades or even better - straight razors, you wanna do at least a 2nd pass across the grain of your beard. many people do a 3rd against the grain. technique meaning mainly whether or not you pull your skin to get closer shave, angle and force of the blade against your skin. if you wanna improve, just google how to shave with double edge safety razor, there will be many guys with tutorials and proper explanations as to how to get BBS shave even with the mildest razor.

    They make 2 more aggressive models of the AL13, they are marked ++ and +++but you have to buy them from other razor companies such as ShaveNation, Henson does not sell them to the public. Don't ask me why they do that. You should also try other blades. RK blades are junk, much sharper/smoother blades out there.

    Three-pass or BBS shaves are nonsense. The purpose of a shave is to remove most of the excess hair growth. A completely smooth face means you have likely cut below the skin, and will experience bumps and/or ingrown hairs in a day or two.
