- Brutal death metal overlords DYING FETUS have unveiled a mini-doc about the band’s songwriting and recording processes. Filmed at MilkBoy Studios in Philadelphia, PA in 2017 upon the release of Wrong One To Fuck With, the band chronicled the re-recording of their classic track “One Shot, One Kill” with Swedish Producer/Engineer Mattias Nilsson. The video features interviews, a new “One Shot, One Kill” performance, and behind-the-scenes footage.

One of the greatest death metal bands of all time
I would say the greatest
I'd add Technical Death metal
@@spikehackett3290 So you've chosen Death, sorry bad joke
Jeff Hackett What makes them the greatest?
@@kotanovakota Death is more melodic death metal. They don't have the violent caveman riffs
“One Shot, One Kill” is THE song that introduced me to Dying Fetus 13 years ago.
Same bro .. came across the video by accident on RUclips about ten years ago myself. Was hooked ever since. the original blows this out of the atmosphere though
Homicidal retribution for me. Heard it about 2007
We all have our first
TRUE MAN 🤘🤘🤘😎👍
Subjected to a Beating for me but then I found their original gem of One Shot and it is now forever my first song on my workout playlist or yard work playlist
"We're never gonna get awards.....
.
.
.
.
And it's good that way." Savage af.
I think he tried to do that old "....satan" bit that Ghaal did..haha
I'm not worried about Dying Fetus releasing a "Black Album" anytime soon. Absolutely incredible band.
...why would they release a metallica CD?
Stop hating & appreciate musicians for their journeys. Black album had great tone also, some of the best guitar tone still recorded to this day. Learn to appreciate shit or shut the hell up.
yeah right. never. i cant even imagine a black album form dying fetus. fuck that
Beasley's bass sweeps are pure mastery
John Gallagher: the most stoned-sounding dude in interviews , putting out some of the most brutal music ever :)
FAX
I wish they'd go back to Reign Supreme production. It was done so well, and is my favorite album from DF.
fully agree, so ridiculously beefy and brutal. wrong one to fuck with sounded like a garage recording in comparison. it's dope the band recorded their own stuff for that album but i feel some things are better left to the pros. whoever did reign supreme should be their producer forever.
Regin Supreme was incredible
@@ccchase420 I just looked it up, it was done in WrightWay Studios (Baltimore), Steve Wright on the leading production/engineering. Which is interesting, because Wrong 1 2 fuck with, is the same producer. I guess they just went for a different approach, wanted it to sound more "raw"?
@@heifehen6222 they stated in a video made during recording that they were very proud of the fact that they tracked their own guitars (and drums?) for wrong one. so the producer just mixed together what they gave him and recorded vocals instead of overseeing the whole project like he most likely did on reign supreme.
I agree. When WOTFW came out I felt like I was in the minority that it wasn't as good as previous records. I even had fans chastise me for saying Reign Supreme was the best. But I guess it's good to see other people get it.
I remember touring with these guys in 2008. I remember Sean wanting to mess around with my bass rig after most sound checks, and drinking on the bus with Fetus and Necrophagist. These are memories I will cherish forever. \m/
Its always been a pain in the ass to look for a high quality version of this song, so with that said, still looking.
I remember back in 2004 i saw a guy in my school holding the stop at nothing CD, the next day i went to the local store and search for it without even know dying fetus, i sat down and listen it and i was Shocked by how good they are....
That is the coolest story iv ever heard
Gave the bass the ol’ “And Justice for All” treatment I can hear
Bro, what are listening through? I can hear the bass just fine even through my phone speaker, which means the bass is definitely audible in headphones.
could not of said that any better haha but really what the fuck is the deal with no mids and that vocal effect?
I wish the snare was a little louder
It aint done their tracking obviously you know dick about recording
It's a shame that you can't hear the bass I can hear it just fine. The thing is that you probably don't know where in the spectrum it is. When you don't know where the guitar ends and the bass starts, the untrained ear will hear the guitar and bass combo like one giant guitar sound.
I prefer the OG recording but this isn't bad in any way. Gotta remember that this studio is getting more into metal, so they may not have given the track justice, but they gave a damn fine attempt considering.
Fetus rules in any case.
Hey man I agree, they thinned out the master huh? Like they scooped out too much of the mid range.
@@who_we_are______5926 this was an April 1 joke mate, a mockumentary
Dying Fetus is definitely still one of the reigning kings of death metal. Each of them are soo fucking masterful of their instruments and they’re writing is something you never get tired of. They stick with what they know and it’s always sounds fresh.
When new albums legendary death metal bands, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Sinister, Cannibal Corpse. This music is my life.
And Skinless
When speaking of active, consistent bands of the last decade, I’d go with Dying Fetus, Aborted, Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy as “legendary”
@@bcbitchkkv Suffocation?
i've been listen almost every day for three months Waking the Cadaver the Demo Collection.
Deicide, Morbid Angel, Misery Index and Hate Eternal
wow these guys are just real dudes grinding out badass music in their genre, it warms my heart. Truly one of the greatest. It's great to see something real.
The way Blunt Force Trauma, Killing On Adrenaline and Destroy The Opposition sounds I want that.
These guys have stayed the same for years. .... thanks you. Never change.
Best April fools joke I've seen!
Thank you guys. I needed it
This absolutely sounds like it was recorded in a studio that has never done death metal before, yikes.
👍🙌
I think what the studio was trying to do was make everything each instrument played discernible.
Yeah I'm sure the people who wrote the song don't know better than you, random youtuber.
@eVo 7 holy fuck they squashed the shit out of this mix! Insane amount of distortion on the vox... and good god what horrendous EQ did they put on the guitar tones, where's the fucking BALLS?! It's a trebly, brick walled crushed to shit mix, does absolutely no justice to the song and the musicians who performed it...
It's not necessarily a bad thing. It sounds different from the original, different drummer and vocalists. The prod is clearer and each instruments is defined.
One Shot One Kill is by far my most favorite song by them, glad to see it in the spotlight
Love it! U guys worked hard on this and I’m loving every minute of it 💯
They are the best. They never disappoint.
documentary was cool but the production quality of the song is pretty bad.. loud static on the vocals and overall sounds flat
Yea, I feel the same. The guitars are really thin sounding. Not the awesome, chunky guitar sound I associate with Fetus.
@@Jeffmetal42 Curious, what did you think of the production on Wrong One to Fuck With?
Can't hear any bass, and vocals sound thin
MetalForTheMasses Wrong One took me a couple listens cause I thought the guitars were thin and it was maybe a bit over-produced. But I kept going back cause the songs fuckin rip.
Ummm April fools?! :D
Amazing! My favorite track got a re-make! Thank you!
Friggin love these guys, there technical skill is above par!!!
My favorite death metal band ever. Never changed. Still brutal.
I WAS AT THAT SHOW IN ATLANTA!!!!!!!! I’m an OLD metalhead, and these guys have always been a cut above in skill and brains. This is so cool. I’ve sold my soul and went corporate, became a senior exec, and STILL BLAST THIS SONG IN MY OFFICE. Fun part is seeing people that want to tell me to turn it down, but won’t. Looks like these guys have a LONG time left in them. Seeing this, I especially cannot wait for them to come back to Atlanta. Imagine the material that they’re going to have after this bullshit mass hysteria is over.
I love death metal and I'm a business major at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, California. You didn't sell your soul just because your corporate 🙏
False Doctrine Destroyer :-) It’s been worth it for the better concert tickets! Look at supply chain/logistics/machine learning as a biz niche brother. I just left a sr. Leadership role at one of the Big 4, and we couldn’t get enough analysts for that space.
Fuck yeah get that bag yo..still be a metalhead for life..🤘
I'd love for you to be my boss, one who jams Dying Fetus.
nowimhigh brother, if you ever get into consulting, I’ll be high too, and looking for someone smart enough to listen to Dying Fetus :-) I literally always find a way to figure out what new candidates listen to; and I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit to giving preference to my fellow METALHEADS. :-)
saw them live yesterday in chemnitz
hands down the best live band ive ever seen
My old friends Decomposed from Philly recorded their self titled demo at Milkboy in 1999. They were death metal.
This was fkn awesome!! Thanks for this.
they released this on april fools yall...
My highest respect to these guys from Dying Fetus.
I didn't like the Cookie Monster lyrics at first, but they grew on me. Now they're one of my favorite bands.
I've seen these guys live a few times. The first of which was on the Destroy the Opposition tour with Kevin Tally on drums in 2001. I was lucky enough to be able to stand behind his kit during the set. To this day, and I've seen hundreds of metal shows in the last 26 years... I've never seen a drummer destroy a kit like that.
Kevin is a beast
I personally think the mix is awful. maybe its cause of youtube compressions ? idk, i am no expert at this either. Anyway track is jarring like hell throughout.
it is not the compression. it is a raw I hope!
@@VladicD is it jarring or is it just me ?
@@411paths i don't know. With this kind of musicians, you can make mix sounds like million dollars with ease.
I prefer the Reign Supreme production. That is my favourite. The new stuff was ok. Not any memorable songs for me though. Reign Supreme had way more memorable moments for me. Not dissing WOTFW just not the greatest imo
vocals are pretty piercing seem to be distorting, snare sounds not great. mix is missing that warm crushing hug. band slam though as always
I think it sounds kickass. It's like part two of this song rather than a redo. There are psychological studies that show people will almost always prefer the first version of a song they hear. This almost sounds like a whole new song. Dying Fetus is one of the most cathartic bands to listen to for me. No matter how pissed off or frustrated I feel after a bad day, I can listen to them and all that anger and frustration just channels through the music and is gone.
Dying Fetus never disappoints.
Nostalgia matters a lot
I agree. it's just a different mix interpretation. i think it's pretty interesting.
It’s objectively better
I've seen these dudes multiple times, always sick!!! Straight forward, straight up classic death metal. One of the last bands still doing it.
One of my all time fav bands. Akercocke, deftones, gojira, dying fetus.....
One Shot, One Kill was filmed at The Masquerade (RIP)?! Holy balls! That makes me love/miss the old venue even more now....
My #1 Favorite Death Metal band Dying Fetus!
They had almost all the sound elements of death metal.
7:29 One Shot, One Kill!
Remember hearing grotesque impalement a long time ago, been hooked ever since
Great insight into the band. Loved this 🤘
Dying Fetus are amazing. One of the best Death Metal bands ever.
I want thick fat heavy guitar sounds...cant find it in this production...it would have been so much better with a Scott Burns Morrissound!
John Gallagher and Sean Beasley are the Lennon-McCartney of metal.
awesome new quality, Great work Milkboy studio..Love this fucking song , cheers from Argentina, AGUANTE DYING FETUS!
Saw them with Thy Art Is Murder. Amazing band and was lucky enough to meet Jon afterwards
Production sounds kinda like history repeats album. Some of the best in my opinion! Love it!
The hell is going on in the top end? Several things sound very sibilant.
This is awesome 🤘🤘 More plz!!!!
Sounds absolutely amazing
Amen, its not about the lyrics its about the music. I have to explain this to regular people all the time. They just dont get , they want to "hear a story" barf. Why do you need music for a story?? Music is about music and is Why Death Metal is the highest form of music.
Id wager that these people are just lazy if they cant get the story from the instrumental, or at the very least listen to shit music if their ears arent trained to do so. Also, Id wager that they are liars, because chances are they listen to stuff with the most meaningless lyrics on earthqnd enjoy it just as much as the stuff with.
I don't like the drums mix personally but this is some amazing stuff
yeah something about the snare for me but fuck it who cares they slam always
Definitely never mixed death metal before. I've been listening to Dying Fetus since I bought Infatuation with Malevolence from B&B music in the 90's. Their line up and production have changed over the years, but wherever they recorded Reign Supreme is where they should go back to. Or dude at Milkboy needs a lesson in metal...
Big ups to some Maryland Metal 💪 Hope you guys never retire.
Fucking outstanding, and thank you for coming BACK to Denver. Carnage & Chaos was the heaviest shit we've seen and Summit will be fucking epic. Daughter and I will be there EVERY FUCKING TIME so THANK YOU BOYS!!!
One shot one kill was the song that hook for me into death metal wahhhhhhhh I'm having a pure eargasm hearing it again after not listening for a couple of years
Amazing mix.
Being from the Philly area with family still there I'm relatively familiar with Milkboy. This mix isn't bad, but you can tell it's mixed by a studio more familiar with pop acts. It needs more body.
Amazing
It's impossible to name one band as my favorite.. But GODDAMN.. DYING FETUS is fucking UP THERE.
Love this but we need a live dvd from you guys... Not just a good teaser like this of new recording like this :P
Cant wait for a new album
Dying Fetus, Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Faceless. Live shows where the crowd doesn't mosh so much as they stand in awe as if in a dream.
I love this band!!
Sonically and in terms of writing, Reign Supreme was just a monster album... The production quality was excellent and the song writing amazing. This wasn't terrible for a studio that has never done a single death metal album, but it doesn't quite hold up to the reputation.
Got into these guys about 5 years ago gotta be in my top 3 for metal
I love these dudes
Im from Brazil, and i love this band.
Dying fetus is so sick. One of the only death metal bands I could really get into because they're amazing live and just brutally heavy.
Love this band to death.
One of the best death metal bands out there
First heard them in 2000. Never looked back.
What I would give for a full length dvd from you guys!
I miss this band. Fan since 2010. Reign Supreme will always personally be my favorite. And Homicidal Retribution.
Im ready for their next album
I agree I enjoy the sound of death metal more than lyrics. 🤘
Love these guys
Ver a Dying Fetus el año pasado en Rock Al Parque fue BRUTAL!!!
\m/
Brutal, regards Dying Fetus
This footage along and followed up, with a super sick, high quality, full show set . Be pretty killer ha ha
Love this band
sounds like it was mixed by someone who's never mixed death metal before. Everything sounds wrong.
William Pryor notice how they said how “they like to do things”
Funny because that's literally whats said in the video.
Yeah, the mix isn't optimal for this stuff, but the vocals really shine on this one.
unlockable gameplay you sir are correct
How can it sound wrong when DF decided to record it again and eventually publish this online? I think it sounds decent. Not 100 percent like the "old/ original of 2003" but yeah.. guess what, its almost 20 years later bro^^
Why do metalheads always complain? Don't get it, really ^^
Killer band, nice to watch a promo of them
Fuck. I needed this! Thanks, fellas. DF 4ever!
Absolutely love Trey. Hes such a sick drummer and down to earth dude
My first ever show was Dying Fetus in 2011. Best time ever.
Nothing was ever brutal enough for me until Dying Fetus. But after thrashing for a bit I realized that they are waaaay “cleaner” sounding than any other death metal I’ve ever heard. Fucking killer!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Seen these on Halloween night in 2009, supporting Cannibal Corpse in Glasgow Scotland. Been a huge fan ever since.
You guys never disappoints this shit slays and it sounds absolutely incredible been blasting this for so many years and hey Milkboy studios your choice choosing Dying Fetus was absolutely on point and yoyr work on the mixing and everything sounds marvelous
I miss Jason Netherdon in this band along with Kevin Tally.
Killing on Adrenaline and Destroy the Opposition
8:49 Nice to see Gunnar Nelson is keeping busy
"Echo" from Twelve Titans Music in the beginning of the video. OK, I'm already pumped !
Hey. How about the second epic song, from 01:20.
Do you know which song that is?
Ohhh. The BRUTALITY!!!
Shoutout to Milkboy Studio’s for recording Dying Fetus and giving death metal a shot🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Dying Fetus is the catchiest death metal band ever.
i like john playing air guitar as he lays down the vocal track
They are the coolest guys you'll ever meet
This album is a monster especially with induce terror on it
