I love how big this has gotten. I remember the original video, and it's so cool how one random moment caught on and became one of the most famous moments in Minecraft history. And people who don't even play Minecraft can still enjoy it because it's just so good.
It's the combination of not specifically referencing Minecraft and memorable simple lyrics that have made it really spread, it has become the go to dwarf song
It feels both weird and somewhat inspirational, I remember being there at the beginning, watching them chat and come up with the little joke song, to see how far it's come is wild
This is the silver lining of the internet. The sheer creativity and the fun of this song and how it organically grew from a off-the-cuff joke between online friends into a badass metal song.
The Wind Rose version is definitely the perfect culmination of this long journey, if only for the addition of the drum solo that went so hard and so deep it awoke the Balrog.
@@ProtoNeoVintage, I just went to listen to it and holy s***. It's like we've come full circle back to Yogscast's synth version. What a journey this song has been on.
Clamavi de Profundis and Colm Mc Guinness have both released covers in the last fortnight which have added the nearly perfect seasoning to the culmination of this journey
"Those guys" playing Minecraft are the Yogscast. They are now one of the biggest streaming media groups out there, to the point where they raise *millions* of dollars every year in December during their Jingle Jam for a number of charities.
Well this is something I never ever ever expected, @Yogscast is where it's at. Yogscast were huge in the MC scene back in when it was released 2010-2013, Simon played a dwarf (the one singing) and Lewis was his idiot friend and company partner for their channel for their shit WoW Guild/Tutorials. They based this on Simon's dwarf character (from his WoW days from which the channel was created) when he started singing this during one of the episodes.
yup, was there, silly fun. All the people I knew started being Dwarves and singing this in channel while playing. Myself and my friends also played Lord of the Rings Online, playing Dwarves and played the second one there via their instrument system. When Wind Rose hit, we're metal heads, we ate it up. It is STILL played whenever we play together. Some good old guy fun. LOL
@@bonnycroft9093for me it was Yog’s lab that I loved best! Also I did listen to sips’s feed the world and the like... I got into minecraft in part because of the old FTB series on RUclips...followed Generic-B, vintage Beef, Anderzel and Nerbris to a lesser degree... Good old days...
It was a throwaway joke from Simon of the Yogscast and then it became an epic Dwarven anthem. The Minecraft community picked it up, Yogscast community sings it at the cons -and totally doesn't sound like a cult or anything- 🤚 , even a choir sang it because The Yogscast community donated millions of dollars to Oxfam one Christmas (They still do charity every Christmas season), there is even an unmentionable rap version that should remained buried, and then Wind Rose made a cover that sent it truly mainstream.
Then like a month or so ago another cover was dropped by RichaadEB and Jonathon Young using the Windrose arrangement as well. I just came across it yesterday.
@@davidstrife165 wow, I didn’t know Dan Bull did a rap version of it, that sounds amazing. Guna have to go watch that now :D yay for this song being stuck in our heads for another decade lmao.
'We do not fear what lies beneath, because we can never dig too deep' hit me at a dark point of my younger years.. Helped me come to terms with things happening at the time.
This is the most badass thing about music. A line of a meme song can be purely referring to digging out of the bottom of the world in Minecraft, but someone can identify with the lyric in a different way and find that it helps them through a tough time in life.
The line “never seen the blue moon glow, dwarves don’t fly so high” is a reference to another song by the Yogscast called Moonquest, about a modded minecraft series where they went to the moon.
This just popped up in my recommended feed, Couldn't believe anything I made could go so far. Thanks so much for reacting to it, and thanks to Yogscast for the creation of the song and its origin as well as the memories it has given us.
@@DaDestroyer1986 He has no idea the can of worms he opened up can't wait for him to realize there's a whole genre of themed metal in nerd metal. He's going to be jumping from dwarves, pirates, and werewolves.
For far too long had 'Hi Ho' been the song of dwarfdom. Then came Simon and everything about being a Dwarf (except for the height, mining, love of gold, murderous midget rage, etc) changed forever!
A couple of weeks ago I installed a new mail box post by the road, I pulled the car up and bluetoothed WindRose from my phone over to the car and cranked it up... I actually dug the hole faster and better while the neighbors scratched their heads. Great reaction, thank you!
I *watched* Shadow of Israphel when Simon first sang the song, and then each and every video of Diggy Diggy Hole that came after. *Boy* did this make me feel old
I remember back in the day seeing the original video and then seeing the other two animated versions around the time they came out. I totally forgot it existed until about a year ago when I'm going down the road and Amazon Music plays this song that sounds so familiar, but metallized. I look at the screen in the car and immediately go "No way!" Now I listen to it all the time and it never fails to make me smile and laugh at how a simple conversation turned into that.
Simon's minecraft skin is of a "Fantasy" dwarf. They were joking that the stereotype of fantasy dwarfs is that they typically live underground and all they do all day is dig...and dig and dig. And they usually sound scottish. lmao. So like you, they were kind of like ... well I'm going to build something...simon what are you going to do? And Simon (the dwarf) being cheeky was like...i don't really know. I guess since I'm a dwarf I'll just do what dwarfs do best. Dig! and started to sing that song because that's kind of like a dwarf like thing to do...Hi ho hi ho it's off to dig we go. Sing a song and dig dig diggy hole. lol Well prior to this they already had a huge fan base and were primarily a "Minecraft" channel on youtube. So they had resources to make high quality videos. To be able to produce an animated music video of that game clip really stood them apart from just a normy gamming channel. Usually their music vids would go pretty viral. And this one in particular was one of their firsts and most popular one. Honestly, this is a very generational small niche cult following thing. One of those things where you can say "if you know.....you know" If you don't...don't worry about it. You probably won't get it anyways. Like the great civillization of Rome the Yogscast Channel grew too big and eventually had too many creators on it which ultimately imo caused divisions, lack of direction for the channel and a poorly overworked Lewis who carried most of it on his shoulders. When he tried to invest in others to take on the responsibility of the now "company of Yogstowers" scandals started happen, people got fired...others left to persue other opprotunities....mental health issues in some....living distance problems etc.... The slow degrading of Rome. But! It's still around! It's not in it's glory days anymore but the guys are middle age and still need money. It's still their main job so they still have content up on there. The minecraft days are mostly over but the main allure has always been the pointless funny English Banter between Simon and Lewis.
Diggy Diggy hole is 10 years old.... damn, and its one of the few proper memorable moments from the Yogscast's Minecraft series.... other than Honeydew's obsession with Jaffa Cakes....
Still obsessed with Jaffa Cakes, when Krispy Kream introduced their Jaffa Lover donut he was an official taster earlier this year, like less then a month ago.
@14:00 "This just makes me smile" Yeah, its that feeling. This feeling of carrying childhood into the adult world. Its very close to that saying "Boys don't grow up, they just get bigger toys." except the toy is objectively cool, so much so that you can share it with anyone and they'll start smiling to.
Yogscast is the original people playing minecraft, they are a semi famous british youtube group, Simmon (Honeydew) is one of the original people of the group itself. The clip came from a RP Mincraft letsplay of theirs that was famous in the earlier days of YT
I was holding my breath for Wind Rose's rendition and was *so* happy that you enjoyed that version. Their brand of "Dwarven metal" speaks to my little gamer's heart, as I've played fantasy TTRPGs for many years. The only other version of this song I had heard before was the one right before Wind Rose, and although I knew the song originated with Minecraft, I knew nothing about how it came about. Interesting! I hope those two guys made a little $$$ off of this song evolution.
I have a 10 year old son who plays nothing but dwarves because of this song and "Deep Rock Galactic". He also says it speaks to his dwarven heart. If you haven't heard "When the Hammer Falls" by Clamavi De Profundis you should give it a listen. They also did a cover of "Where There's a Whip" as an April Fools joke that is too good for a joke.
the series of videos that this meme came from basically started a company that now employs somewhere around 30 employees. i've been watching them since 2008. there have been ups and downs. neat project to experience.
You certainly got right the ups and downs. I'm one of the old ones who were there when SoI started, and they are responsible for countless hours i've spent in Minecraft. Though havent watched them in years, and once i tryed one of modern videos, i had no idea who is who. Their viewcount not being not that great, what is actually going on there? Should i give it another go?
Some history: The first house music version was composed *by a fan* just as the Yogscast main channel was _really_ getting big. The orchestral version was released *by the Yogscast themselves* as a celebration that the YogTowers organization had made it big. An actual company where everyone made money producing gaming videos. The background chorus is their whole stable of presenters at the time. Which brings us to *the Wind Rose metal song* which came out around the time the Yogscast made some _major_ renovations. Some people were kicked out, including their business manager - for Weinsteinian antics. But it wasn't their cursed midas touch that made the Yogscast profitable. It was the charming _cast._ - Which is why they got a cover! Still is. Charming, that is. And profitable!
@@velraven8944 Sjin was being severely inappropriate with at least one fan if I remember as much as I love his troll personality and castle building techniques and how he meshed with the cast, he made some big mistakes.
So sad to hear you didn't get much out of Minecraft. It's a wonderful way to spend time in distraction and imagination, the only point to it being to explore the randomly generated world and re-shape it however you like. From 'Flying around' it sounds like you started in Creative Mode which I think is the worst way to get your first experience with minecraft since it assumes you already know what you're doing and just want to dive in. Survival mode is where it's at and gives you an experience that starts small and branches out exponentially with the simple goal of not getting yoru face eaten to help keep you steady on-track. Contemporary survival/gathering/crafting games like Rust, Seven days to Die, Ark: survival evolved and the like all started with Minecraft as their original inspiration. People have done so much dope shit in Minecraft, from re-making the Taj Mahal to creating working 16-bit computers.
My four year old will make our Alexa device play the metal version every couple of days if he feels it is getting too quiet. I accidentally introduced him to it trying to show him the Yogacast version, which I though he'd like the animation of it.
They might be strong, but they're nothing like the monolith they were a bit more than 10 years ago when they WERE RUclips -- just before the rise of Pewdiepie.

I feel like I've heard of Diggy Diggy Hole, before, but I've never actually heard the song or seen any of the videos. This progression is what I love about internet culture: a throwaway joke connects so many people that it gets upcycled into grander and grander incarnations.
I stumbled acrossed the animated version first and I love windrose power metal version of it. I was actually listening to this when I was playing a dwarf barbarian in baulder gate 3 and passed so many checks while rocking out to it and just taking heads left and right.
I can see your beard growing faster from here good sir. Nice and distinguished. Appropriate. Jokes aside, Wind Rose is a great band, always happy they took up this song.
I can confirm this will get stuck in your head lol, I was on a road trip a couple years ago and did basically all of the driving for the group and we couldn't play the music on the radio very loudly because we had a newborn on board, but the whole time I just had that chorus stuck on repeat in my noggin and it delightfully drove me a bit nuts. Love you dude, keep it up, my blood pressure thanks you twice.
The fact it was a really simple and silly one note gag that just spiralled out of control because people on the internet are so crazy talented will never fail to make me smile
There are groups of youtubers who make minecraft videos of them playing together such as Yogscast, Hermitcraft, Alphacraft, and many more. Often people who are fans of those content creators are also creative themselves, either artistically or musically. From what I have seen there is a very welcoming and supportive community for creating fanworks for such things. Also, some of the mid to larger popularity minecraft youtubers will pay music artists to make background music for their vids so they don't have to fuss with copyright claims, so you end up with pretty good relations both ways. Two musically inclined minecraft adjacent people I can think of off the top of my head being Elybeatmaker and Jono. Docm77 I believe has a thing where artist can submit fan art of his character and he uses those pictures for his video thumbnails with credit to the artists. Minecraft itself is a game that requires an ability to set your own goals. Sounds like you were playing in creative mode as you mentioned flying around. There is a survival mode as well where you actually have to go out and gather the resources you want to use and fight monsters, make better forms of gear, weapons, and armour, and there are a few kind of 'boss' monsters you can go out to fight. That lends more of an exploration tone to it. Personally I think GoodTimesWithScar, Grian, PearlescentMoon, and Mumbo Jumbo make some pretty impressive stuff. Welsknight Gaming is calming to watch, though he hasn't been making a lot of minecraft vids for a while due to burnout. Minecraft is also pretty cool because you get things like The Uncensored Library, which is a virtual library that people can access even from countries that are very controlling over what sorts of media their citizens are allowed to consume, because some little block building game seems harmless. There are also people who do things like make sci-fi starships to scale or recreate towns or cities both real and from fiction.
To give some context, the original guys were two buddies that started their youtube channel out and called it The Yogscast. This was back when minecraft was a new game that not many people heard about. They were very entertaining, but they wanted to have a bit more to their videos than them just playing a survival game. I'm not sure who's idea it was, either them or some of their friends, but their buddies essentially wrote a story and was building in the background to make an adventure for them to discover and enjoy with the audience. Their friends created all the different places that they went to, and made characters to play in the game to act out the roles, interacting with them through the text chat as if they were ingame characters. If I remember correctly, at the time that this joke started, they were digging around some ruined fort walls to find a hidden entrance. One of the guy's character gimmicks is that he was playing a dwarf, and did a lot of funny impressions. This was one of them. The show really took off becoming one of the, if not the biggest minecraft youtube channels of it's time. It might have been one of the biggest channels on youtube at the time. The series never reached a conclusion, but had a lot of content and was very fun and immersive. There were many great moments in it, but this one in particular sort of became a meme, before the term meme existed. The channel has seen an abundance of expansions, and is almost unrecognizable from the original, but they are still going at it, and have many more of their friends linked to them with their own channels. They have branched out to many other games, and rarely play minecraft anymore. They are now called YOGSCAST Lewis & Simon, since those are the two original guys. Their first actual song, was their first attempt at making music, so it wasn't great. The second song they actually had professionals working on it, so that is why it sounded a lot better. The Windrose one I don't know the story behind it, but I think they just wanted to make their own, because they do a lot of dwarf themed music, and it was just to perfect. One final note, if you hopped into minecraft, and couldn't find anything to do, and were flying, you were probably playing in creative mode, which is not the intended game experience. The game is supposed to be played as a survival game, where you build your base, gather food and resources, mine, farm, along with an abundance of things in order to gear up and fight certain bosses if you want. Creative mode is sort of the cheat mode if you want to just be flying around in god mode with unlimited resources. It's there in case you just feel like building something, experimenting, or create some custom map for other people to enjoy. It's kind of like minecraft's dev mode. The person who showed it to you probably figured you weren't going to want to put in the time to go through the normal rout to gain things, and figured putting it on that mode would give you more an idea of what you can do, without dipping a lot of time in.
Just to give a minor correction, the first version was made by a fan, not Yogscast themselves, and the second version wasn’t made by professionals but by a guitarist/singer who was trying to get his band off the ground (the guy is called sparkles and his band is area11, he was the sound guy for Yogscast for a couple years but has since moved on)
Those guys are the original Yogscast members Simon and Lewis. That whole crew inadvertently changed a lot of lives through their silly fun gaming videos. Talking about Yogscast content helped me make one of my best friends almost 10 years ago. :) I'll always be thankful and still tune in for their "jingle jam" charity event
As many others have mentioned, it started from a rather popular channel called Yogscast that did videos of gaming and this was from one of their sessions where they were bantering about Simon's dwarf character while p0laying Minecraft back when it was Huge... one of their "subscribers/viewers sampled that session and set it to music, which they enjoyed and it inspired them to fill out the song a little more... Simon wrote the rest of the lyrics and the crew of Yogscast got music done and a studio and sang the third version which was eventually animated for the video you saw... a bit later a self proclaimed "dwarven" metal band added their own unique flair and an awesome "metal flavor" to the song and completed the journey... I can never decide whether I like the third or fourth versions either and I play it QUITE often just for the sheer fun and joy it brings.... Yes... occasionally a silly internet meme breaks out and lasts and may retain it's place for a very long time... That being said, many of Wind Rose's songs are absolutely EPIC, even if directed and composed from a "Dwarvish" point of view... they keep releasing albums on that theme (much like Sabaton's warrior theme) and are carving out their own rock and metal niche! Hope you explore more Wind Rose or maybe some "pirate metal" (and a bit silly) from Alestorm!
Sounds like you found yourself in the Creative Mode, that's just like being given an infinite lego set to do whatever you want with, but if you'd never seen legos before you'd have no idea what you could do with them. Should have gone into Survival Mode, there you have pretty clear goals.
The Yogscast was one of the first channels to make any sort of narrative content in Minecraft back in 2011. That is where the first clip came from. That little song then became a meme within their community, which is why a fan then made the first song. Many years later the Yogscast made the official doggy doggy hole song, which is now kinda the anthem of that community. Windrose then made the final song and it is awesome.
The animated Diggy Diggy Hole is actually sung by the Yogscast, and the dwarves in the animation are based on their Minecraft skins they used when playing. Fans that have watched a lot of their Minecraft series notice the connection, but someone who hasn't seen them will think they made just random characters.
Wind Rose who was the last in the series is known as a Dwarf Metal band. If you enjoy these fantasy style bands I suggest you check out Gloryhammer or their founders main band Alestorm with their newest song P.A.R.T.Y.
Oh. You need to explore the fun side of metal. Wind Rose is a great start. "Drunken Dwarves" is a fun drinking song. And "We Were Warriors" is a very touching song from them. "Gates of Ekrund" is very theatrical. Or you could explore Gloryhammer. I would suggest a few of their songs. "Gloryhammer" (yes. It's the same as their band name), or"Hootsforce". (such a catchy song) Or you could go for comedy gold and listen to Nanowar of Steel. I love "Valhalleluja". It has the lead singer of Gloryhammer playing Odin. I also love "Uranus". Or a song that gets stuck in my head a lot, "Barbie, MILF Princess of the Twilight".
If you were flying in Minecraft, it means you were in creative. You can build whatever you want in creative, but its more fun in survival where there are monsters that could potentially kill you and actual stuff you have to collect.
Gosh, it's amazing hearing the Yogscast referred to as just "these two guys" now. I remember when they were THE RUclips celebrities just all over the front page for everybody. Sadly, they've diminished greatly over time due mostly to loss of top tier talent (losing Honeydew/Simon was ROUGH for them, not to mention the various scandals over the last few years losing them several more) and to some extent due to refusal to give the fans what they wanted (looking at you, Shadow of Israphel).
"How did this happen?!" That is a very good question. I don't know if anyone can really answer it, but I think we can all agree that it's a good thing it did :D
Yogscast made a HUGE impact on the Minecraft community as a whole, and Diggy Diggy hole was overwhelmingly praised a loved by everyone and it did indeed go viral and sweep the internet, it was a wonderful era of the internet and Minecraft
2:49 "For some reason I can fly in the air and things like that" Yes, that's called Creative mode. It allows you to not have to deal with enemies, or search for materials, everything's just at your fingertips. Versus the main fun of the game, Survival mode, where you do have to do those things. Which you use to create... whatever you please. A house, a castle, carve into a mountain, make a statue of yourself, whatever you please. That's the point of a _sandbox_ game, you come up with your goals.
Well it is, indirectly. There’s a lot of LOTR references, “we can never dig too deep”, referencing Saruman, “the Dwarves dug too greedily and too deep”, when we are being introduced to the Balrog. The Yogscast referenced LOTR a lot in those days.
My kids were big into Yogscast, I found diggy diggy hole three years ago while I was playing a Dwarf in my friends d&d campaign. The Windrose version first. Amazing stuff.
I watched a reel yesterday in fb where this guy was wearing his Wind Rose jacket while the band's vocalist was standing behind him. And I thought that wow... It's so cool. Search the band name and the 1st song I found and heard was diggy diggy hole. Today, I'm listening to diggy diggy hole the whole day.
I'm so glad to see this! Also Windrose is badass. Might want to look into more of their stuff. It's Lord of the Rings based, but you don't need to be familiar with LotR to enjoy it.
Speaking of minecraft, I recommend the video "What Minecraft Is Like For Someone Who Doesn't Play Games". The author persuades his partner to play various games and does not explain anything to her. And of course it records. In the beginning, he gave her a lot of classic games with clear rules and clear goals. And then he gave her a minecraft. And at first she was completely overwhelmed with the game saying nothing and telling her to do nothing. She was constantly looking for a way to "win the game". But when she realized that Minecraft is not a game to be won, only a game to be played, it opened her eyes to limitless possibilities.
I've never been a gamer but I love the Wind Rose version of the song. Heavy Metal for real. And yes it's catchy for sure. I saw it being played at a rock festival recently, on television, and saw audience members doing a digging dance in unison. It was glorious to behold LOL
I've always loved the fact that the Yogscast version tells a story with the little one learning about history and culture and wondering about his King Dwarf dad who fought the monster and might not be coming home.
Too bad you missed the Yogscast original that was re-uploaded. Probably the one that drove its direction into a triumphant ballad. That aside, first time watching one of your videos LBoyd. I could already see the gears start to turn inside of you watching this and I don't know you really short of this small display but I'll say this much. You gotta open up your heart and let all the feels in and out! I could see your reserved and collected demeanor crumble as the video went on, so I know it's in there. Just let out the joy and happiness your feeling more, I guess is all I'm saying! You're also a lot cuter when you open up too. 😘 Loved the video! ~C²R
I've been a huge fan of both the OG fan song and the official animation, but I had no idea this live action remix existed. I got goosebumps when they hit the chorus.
Now someone I respect has reacted to the evolution video I can say I've been there for the WHOLE evolution process! Coolness. and for a reference, over 30 million copies of Minecraft have been sold, and over 50 million have been registered. (some of them were free from Microsoft and other places)
For Wind Rose........Diggy Diggy Hole is a good place to start they are a band from Pisa, Tuscany and they look like they stepped out of the game. I like their song " Drunken Dwarves" but they are really great to listen to. They have that epic feel to their music.
The 1st video in the compilation you watched was a scene from the Yogscast Shadow of Israphel series, which was a Minecraft Survival series with a story the Yogscast made themselves, the 2nd video in the compilation is a fan made song inspired by that scene, the 3rd video is an official song made by the Yogscast, and the 4th song is a fan cover made by Wind Rose. As for your question about Minecraft, it's a survival and building game, there is no real story or objectives, so you can do and build whatever you want. There are 3 game modes, Survival, Creative, and Hardcore. In Survival mode, you mine and farm resources to build and survive, Creative mode makes you invincible, able to fly and gives you access to everything so you can build to your hearts contempt, Hardcore mode is Survival mode locked on the hardest difficulty, if you die, your world gets deleted. You can also download and install mods to change up the game, texture and resource packs to change the look and sounds of the game and make a skin and download it off a website to change your appearance.
Something about you seems so damn wholesome and you have a like and subscribe. I want more people like you on this platform. All the best from Australia, mate.
From 2 friends messing about to wonderous music videos, I'm crying watching this video since I grew up watching The Yogscast and get to experience new people finding this, you made a 32 year old man cry lol
Knowing where this video was going to end (or more specifically WHO this video was going to end on..) it made me cackle with PURE UNADULTERED GLEE when you said the animated version had 'sabaton' vibes.
I created a curated "barbarian metal" Pandora channel a while back. Viking, Germanic, Hunic, Pirate, and... yes, Dwarvin. WindRose is cheesy but damned do I get goosebumps every time.
all it takes is the right thing at the right time. one guy tries to singing in Minecraft, then someone made a memed and dj mix of it, then someone went full ham and made it into a full on song that is very catchy ^^
I actually had no idea that Diggy Diggy Hole started as a Minecraft thing - I was introduced to the Wind Rose version of the song through a totally different game, Deep Rock Galactic, which has basically adopted the Wind Rose version as an unofficial anthem. I think it's kind of sweet that a song that started in one game has ended up being so beloved by the community of a totally different game :D
Minecraft has multiple Game Modes you can play in: - Survival Mode (you have a life bar, monsters can spawn depending on difficulty and you have to find and craft everything yourself - Creative Mode (infinite access to all items, you can fly and build your world or whatever you want. Perfect to try things out without risk because you also cannot die) - Hardcore (1 Life, you die, you lose your character/world potentially) ... Well, that's as far as I know/remember as I last played this game in it's Beta ;) good times
It's MineCraft. You Mine & Craft, build what you want from massive castles to working lighthouses & computers. Then get into the modded stuff & get crazy. This was originally the Yogscast playing MineCraft (specifically Lewis & Simon). It got so big they made the music video (the animated you compared to Sabaton) with others from the group like Duncan. They've been around on YT almost as lomg as Rooster Teeth (Red vs Blue, RWBY, etc) & their sub-company Achievement Hunter. Both hold some epic charity streams in addition to all kinds of gaming content.

Yeah, it’s a hole thing!

Even after all this time, I'm still digging these songs.

Pretty sure it slew the balrog 😅
Have you heard the dance cover by windrose yet? They put it out during COVID because everybody else was doing dance hits too.
@@ProtoNeoVintage, I just went to listen to it and holy s***. It's like we've come full circle back to Yogscast's synth version. What a journey this song has been on.

LOL
Wait, yees all aren't memeing?
I thought these dudes were just heavy musicians adjacent to the Dwarven cause.

The Dan Bull rap version is good
@@davidstrife165 wow, I didn’t know Dan Bull did a rap version of it, that sounds amazing. Guna have to go watch that now :D yay for this song being stuck in our heads for another decade lmao.

This just popped up in my recommended feed,
Couldn't believe anything I made could go so far.
Thanks so much for reacting to it, and thanks to Yogscast for the creation of the song and its origin as well as the memories it has given us.

I *watched* Shadow of Israphel when Simon first sang the song, and then each and every video of Diggy Diggy Hole that came after. *Boy* did this make me feel old
SAME
Same I remember when the fan version came out.
I remember back in the day seeing the original video and then seeing the other two animated versions around the time they came out. I totally forgot it existed until about a year ago when I'm going down the road and Amazon Music plays this song that sounds so familiar, but metallized. I look at the screen in the car and immediately go "No way!"
Now I listen to it all the time and it never fails to make me smile and laugh at how a simple conversation turned into that.
Sing a song and dig dig diggy hole. lol
Well prior to this they already had a huge fan base and were primarily a "Minecraft" channel on youtube.
I don't know, Sjin and Sips messing around with Red Matter in the Voltz series was pretty memorable too.

@14:00 "This just makes me smile"
Yeah, its that feeling.
Interesting thing about Wind Rose, the metal band from the last version: they record under Napalm Records, the same label as Sabaton.
Wind Rose did a dance club remix of their metal version of the song. That's interesting in its own way.
Yeah you need to listen to that
Only if you watch the video, of course.
To be fair, the first mix was _very_ House, so the potential is there.

A lot more than 30 people. On air talent, maybe, but lots of editors and stuff.
And purged itself of _creeps._
Which, yes, I respect.
Still, shouldn't have hired your friends as staff without some checks and balances.
Some history:
The first house music version was composed *by a fan* just as the Yogscast main channel was _really_ getting big.
Charming and profitable....just like digging a hole.
@@velraven8944 Sjin was being severely inappropriate with at least one fan if I remember

People have done so much dope shit in Minecraft, from re-making the Taj Mahal to creating working 16-bit computers.
seing Him do a reaction to some of the sci-craft and hermitcraft builds would be fantastic lol
My four year old will make our Alexa device play the metal version every couple of days if he feels it is getting too quiet. I accidentally introduced him to it trying to show him the Yogacast version, which I though he'd like the animation of it.
The Yogscast was my entire RUclips life when growing up, they are still going strong even today nearly 15 years later

The Sabaton vibes are very warranted. The band at the end Wind Rose belong to the same record company as Sabaton. Napalm Records
Evolution of art. Seeing something in nothing. Talking one thing and creating something new.
I have always classified minecraft as an imagination creation engine. Its just a game where if you think it, you can build it.
Gotta love the YOGSCAST. Glad you enjoyed it matey. Have a grand day. Takecare.
When I first encountered the Wind Rose version, it was presented as taking Diggy Diggy Hole "metal". :)
Just to give a minor correction, the first version was made by a fan, not Yogscast themselves, and the second version wasn’t made by professionals but by a guitarist/singer who was trying to get his band off the ground (the guy is called sparkles and his band is area11, he was the sound guy for Yogscast for a couple years but has since moved on)
This may be a simple song, but at least it's very deep.
Those guys are Simon and Lewis of the Yogscast. And back up vocals from a smattering of other Yogs.
"This is going to be stuck in in my head for a week."
Song: "You underestimate my power."
I still remember those days of Shadows of Israphel. Who could have forseen that Simon's silly little digging song would evolve so much. xD
(such a catchy song)
Or you could go for comedy gold and listen to Nanowar of Steel. I love "Valhalleluja". It has the lead singer of Gloryhammer playing Odin. I also love "Uranus". Or a song that gets stuck in my head a lot, "Barbie, MILF Princess of the Twilight".
Alestorm is also good

I like the fact the final rock one turned it from like a goofy rock track to an actual like viking rock track
"How did this happen?!"
That is a very good question.
2:49 "For some reason I can fly in the air and things like that"
Yes, that's called Creative mode.
I heard the metal version of this for a while. Didn't know it had a back story. Funny. I thought it was lord of the rings.
I'm so glad to see this! Also Windrose is badass. Might want to look into more of their stuff. It's Lord of the Rings based, but you don't need to be familiar with LotR to enjoy it.
I didn't know that they did anything other than a Diggy Diggy Hole cover!

I've been a huge fan of both the OG fan song and the official animation, but I had no idea this live action remix existed. I got goosebumps when they hit the chorus.

This song has evolved again. An Irish singer named Colm McGuiness has made a cover of this legendary song.
I love that the Wind Rose version is totally a legit metal band, or at least released by a legit metal/punk music label(Napalm Records).
Wind rose are a full on metal band that are mostly based of Tolkien dwarves of erebor
@@alexgunter2993 Hobbit Metal's cousin Dwarf Rock
Something about you seems so damn wholesome and you have a like and subscribe. I want more people like you on this platform. All the best from Australia, mate.
From 2 friends messing about to wonderous music videos, I'm crying watching this video since I grew up watching The Yogscast and get to experience new people finding this, you made a 32 year old man cry lol
I love the 2nd remix/Wind Rose version. It's like clean vocals Dwarven Amon Amarth
Minecraft has multiple Game Modes you can play in:
- Survival Mode (you have a life bar, monsters can spawn depending on difficulty and you have to find and craft everything yourself
- Creative Mode (infinite access to all items, you can fly and build your world or whatever you want. Perfect to try things out without risk because you also cannot die)
- Hardcore (1 Life, you die, you lose your character/world potentially)
