Amazing to see the improvisation in Bantureethi Kolu by Lalgudi Sir especially in the charanam word Rama Nama Mane. Blessed to hear the honey sweet tone of Lalgudi Sir and the Sogusa Vassikara Umayalpuram Sir on the Mridangam who just takes the Kutcheri to another level. While playing Maaye, Lalgudi Sir from his experience for accompanying Madurai Mani Iyervaal in several concert's, is playing just the way Mani Iyervaal would sing this keerthanam. And as Umayalpuram Sir has also played for Mani Iyervaal, Umayalpuram Sir also plays the same way he plays for Iyervaal.
The entire concert list is like a tribute to Madurai Mani Iyer as that was the year MMI had passed away and the date of the concert was coinciding closely with MMI's birthday.
What beauty!! Thanks very much. The Violin became the Mrudangam and Vice Versa!! How blessed are we to have had the pleasure of Lalgudi-UKS Partnership over the decades.
