Blender has changed my life which is why I believe it is so important to support its development and help others to discover how amazing it is! Thank you for all your tutorials, they help so many people.
And now blender is literally the go to 3D software paid or free for most people. Every time I use blender i am taken aback by the fact that such a fully featured software could be be free to the public
And I am very happy that I was able to make my modest contribution to buying the code back then. I don't know Ton personally, but he's a great guy and has achieved something really great
Every time I use Blender I learn something new. I just love it! Thank you for keeping it awesome and free. And thank you to Andrew, you've helped a lot.

We need a new interview with you and Ton, the one you did is one of my favorite of all time, I've watched it tons of times, we need now another with the new hot topics and some oldies unanswered.
I'm gonna be honest with you all here. Blender has been so important in many aspects, film, art, animation, and video gaming it's really just been a great tool for many the fact Ton went out of his way to get it back and make it open source really does put them down in history as a key component to the indie developers, independents artists and just casual and freelance workers alike. Kudos!
But we need to mention one thing : To get into blender is a pretty high learning curve. Blender is great and with all the Features LITTERALY overwhelming. So to get into this, we need guys like you and all the other great blender experts out there. You all do your tutorials for free too! The community stuff around blender is what it makes outstanding. So.. Keep it up 👌
Part of selling the learning content goes into paying the salaries of the engineers that keep working on updating, maintaining and breathing life into Blender. How do you think they pay their bills and rent if the main software they work on is free?
@@dianafusther689 what you said has absolutly nothing to with what I Was saying 😂 blender is free. The tutorials are free. That poeple make a living of it by selling their own products was never a question. Of course they do and I am glad they are able to! Now go karen someone else 😜

This is also why I support Blender so strongly. Not just because it's good and free and updated regularly, but because it's the future. Being open source and crowdfunded means that you don't depend on greedy investors forcing you to make desperate choices, and your dependency on the public's funding means you have to deliver a quality product (as opposed to, say, introducing paywalls or forcing ads or abusive subscriptions on users). Since the funding grows over time, you can keep expanding your business. It may very well become industry standard too - it already seems to be, in some circles, as bigger and bigger companies are discovered to use some form of Blender. I think this is what the future looks like. People powering what they love so it keeps getting better, but also in way that's accessible for everyone, no matter their income.
I always steered clear of Blender, knowing there was some big studios using it and it was licensed software and I was a poor student loan paying adult. A couple of years ago my kids started learning it via online tutorials and I thought he had a cracked version. He schooled me showing me it was basically free now.
But the Blender free software created thousands of young creators, who then created the strong community. Thanks to the owner of Blender.
