I donated to that Free Blender campaign. (It was five or six years before there was this Australian kid who started doing really great Blender tutorials.) Amazing how far it has come.
If it's real, well THANK YOU wait if you've been here from the beggening of free blener, how does it feels to see a community that you have participated to make grow that mutch ?
And to this day after exactly 10 years of using blender. Because i stuck with it im actively using it in my game dev career going on my 5th professinal year in september 🙏😤. TY blender foundation, always.
Blender has changed my life which is why I believe it is so important to support its development and help others to discover how amazing it is! Thank you for all your tutorials, they help so many people.
And now blender is literally the go to 3D software paid or free for most people. Every time I use blender i am taken aback by the fact that such a fully featured software could be be free to the public
Every time I use Blender I learn something new. I just love it! Thank you for keeping it awesome and free. And thank you to Andrew, you've helped a lot.

We need a new interview with you and Ton, the one you did is one of my favorite of all time, I've watched it tons of times, we need now another with the new hot topics and some oldies unanswered.
But we need to mention one thing : To get into blender is a pretty high learning curve. Blender is great and with all the Features LITTERALY overwhelming. So to get into this, we need guys like you and all the other great blender experts out there. You all do your tutorials for free too! The community stuff around blender is what it makes outstanding. So.. Keep it up 👌
I used the versions previous to that, hehe. Me and my dinosaur friends (tho they were mostly using 3DS for MS DOS by the time). The Blender's C-Key license... I just wasn't able to understand how those nurbs worked (there were no easily available docs like now, the "UI" was A LOT harder)...So... I stuck for some time to my TrueSpace full version in printed Magazine's CDs (always older versions) - THE way to consume tech, as there was a time that internet did not exist, haha- and some other tools like _Imagine_ ... for a big while. Until Blender 2.28C started to make full sense to me. That and ye good old Wings3D (BSD license) and Anim8or (freeware). And then had to use 3DS Max in every studio. Then circled back to Blender as a freelancer. Life is crazy...
Blender is like my go to example of an actually good and polished open source product. Guess the foundations still had to be centralized because the lack of coherency and standardization is what kills most open source applications for me
Don't say it doesn't mean anything though. Lots of people who don't have it know it does. And money is - as I'm learning from this short - what started blender and then made it free (as in freedom) software.

Glad to see not everyone is money hungry

Or it's a lie with some horrific dark side that hasn't been revealed yet.
A relic of the old days, more like.
But the Blender free software created thousands of young creators, who then created the strong community. Thanks to the owner of Blender.
I genuinely don’t think I’d be where I am if blender wasn’t free, otherwise I didn’t know how much of a thing 3d modelling could become

"I am not interested in money"
Unfathomably based!
Only rich people claim they're not interested in money...because they have already loads.

So much respect for Ton. In a world where Adobe and Autodesk are doing everything to make it harder to be an artist, Blender stands out so much.
I took part in that crowdfunding. Hard to believe it has come so far.
Thank you for your contribution. Blender is a phenomenal free software. I don't use it, but I really appreciate it's existence.

Having quality software like Blender for free, is about as close to a miracle you can get.
He’s the reason I’ve made stuff in 3D I’ve always hoped of making since a kid.
