    Dad said that when he was 10 years old in 1933 that Cab Calloway’s orchestra was more than a little HIGH playing Reefer Man !!!

    Symphonic syncopation at it's best.The arrangements are truly flawless.They play with such youthful energy and panache.The sound they recreate is extraordinary.I just adore them.Please come to The United Kingdom very soon.

    WONDERFUL, absolutely fabulous video. Clever, well-directed and edited, thoroughly enjoyable. I especially appreciate the PERIOD detail: HAIRCUTS!!Bad haircuts often ruin s "vintage" re-creation for me...but you guys went totally authentic. The drum set...heavy snare, "ethnic" tom-tom, old-style Chinese temple blocks, Turkish cymbal..plus the VIOLIN-OPHONE (or whatever it's called). Believe me, there ARE some people who notice and appreciate these things. ALSO...it looks as if you guys were actually doing the playing on the soundtrack, then miming to the playback. The clarinet solo fingerings were all ACCURATE!. Anyway, I wish you guys were still around and making more videos. Great job. LR

    You made a little jazz masterpiece here! Love the "King of Jazz" style titles. Great comic touches throughout! Vintage Jazz style performances are brilliantly done! Vocal sounds alot like Jack Teagarden! Joyful jazz romp should impress and delight every jazz 78 collector and 1920s fan! Bravo to the Chicago Stompers! 😊

    Brilliant cinematic comedy to go along with the adroit performance.
    The historical recording of 1933, on which this arrangement is based, has clarinet solos by Goodman throughout, where the violinist here has to "cover" all these because the clarinetist is "late"...
    A clever nod to the source material.

      Wrong. This dates back WAY less than this. It’ll be 1922-1923 when this catchy style of music came into the jazz scene of the 1920’s.

    • @kafenwar
      @kafenwar 6 месяцев назад

      @@Vintage_Ambience It sounds exactly like a big band jazz track from 1931 or so. Like Fletcher Henderson's or the Dorsey Brothers around that time. "Fine and Dandy" by the Dorseys is a perfect example.

      Certainly a transcription of the 1930s Benny Goodman Version. Very close to the original recording, just a portion of the solo clarinet section being cutout, along with other small details. Very good length for a 1920s pop tune 78.
