Such a awesome enclosure for such beautiful spiders. Love seeing Miss Brazilian White Knee hanging out in her enclosure, having the best seat in the house to watch the rehousing. 🕷 ❤️
I remember separating my balfouri from the mom. They were all over 1-1.5 inches (3-4cm). I kept them with the mom for 4 months. They were all very territorial of each other. I remember trying to take one, and another would run up on top of it threat posing me. Like "hey man, that's my sibling you're touching, back off". I absolutely loved the experience, even though it took a very long time.
A stunning enclosure! I like balfouri. They are beautiful beasties with a really cool name. That male was especially gorgeous. First time ever seeing air plants. They are perfect in that enclosure. Thank you to you and Camera Lady for a magnificent video.
You know I just love the new enclosure setups. And thanks for the chuckles...when you were having a bit of trouble with the air plant and small branch. Still great work☺
Oh my goodness..when the first female came out I was like, she's so cute!!! Big enough to put a harness on and take for walks! Those males are just stunning! 😍
I want to build a life size Balfouri communal enclosure in my bedroom and live among the spiders. Once a week I can venture out and eat one of those huge sandworms in 'Dune' for sustenance.
Thank you Dave and Sweet Camera Lady for yet another great video! Very pretty spiders 🕷 indeed, amazing blue 💙 colors! Have a nice continuation of the day and end of the week as well as weekend, hugs ❤🥰🤗 Susanne 👱♀️ and Trollet 🐱.
Morning Dave. I found finger caps you can put on, to prevent the hot glue burning your fingers, very handy things. Seems to have been a fair loss of Balfouri's in the communal, but like you said, lesson learned. They are very impressive as far as I can see. Love how you set up the enclosure, so they will have that webbed up in no time. Awesome video Dave.
Off topic slightly - Could we have update video at some stage on the Brazilian jewels? Also, loved this video because its good to know some species can live in harmony 😊
Amazing video as always! Great footage Camera Lady 💜 7 babies are better than none I suppose however, it is a shame that many were most likely eaten 😔 who knows, maybe you'll find some spare ones roaming around the beastie room over the next few months 😅 The M. balfouri is definitely in my top 5 T species in terms of beauty. The first time I ever seen one in someone's video is when I knew I wanted to get into the hobby (still haven't made the jump, waiting until I move out of my current place). I don't think I'd ever want to keep a communal (maybe one day but, seems a bit chaotic for several reasons, as beautiful as their web castles can be). There's definitely a few species I know I want to eventually keep, just so happens most of them happen to be old worlds 😆 In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through you & the other excellent channels. Keep up the great work, we all appreciate you two so much 👍🏻
I love that you used the natural background, I always see people spray paint Styrofoam and use that for a background but that always makes me cringe for the critter going in the tank with it. Thanks Dave and Camera Lady for another wonderful video. I enjoyed the air plant comedy hour as well.
One of my favourites the balfouri beautiful colours, fantastic looking enclisure as always dave. Shame there wasnt more babies 😔 but hopefully more will be on the way soon
Socotra Island itself is a fairly dry hot place. Scrubland odd plants, odd trees and lot of rocks. And in a lot of the rocks there's wet substrate for them to hide in but they don't really dig because they tend to use the rocks and scrub bushes to hide under.
They are such a gorgeous blue color. I bet that shade of blue would look amazing on a car or a motorcycle. Wonder what the color code for that blue is. Haha
You have completely turned me round on spiders, it's only taken a lifetime. Those were some truly beautiful ones, lovely rehouse. I bet other peoples big spiders are jealous of your spiders houses!!
You are the Spider Whisperer Dave. Im really over the moon that they got a decent keeper and not an inexperienced numpty like myself. Wonderful stuf and also nature in the raw of course. Hope 2022 is a great year for you and this amazing channel.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to care for them , I have some cool plans for them , we will try and breed as a communal and increase the size of this little family ❤️👍
Those are beautiful spiders Dave and their new enclosure looks fantastic your camera lady extraordinary job I say you both are doing an extraordinary job and I love your videos even though I just subscribed to your channel last year.
I have been watching you for several months now. Just fascinated with the way you handle the little beasts. I will never be keeping any of these myself. Thanks to you I sure understand them better and fear them less now. Your a very good teacher.
I love the sound of a bolting T, also love the details of them, the thin white edge of the carapace on the males is so highlighting, and tremendous contrast on the spiders and substrate... Another masterful demonstration from beastie Dave, your capturing and containing skills show your confidence and understanding of their nature, which in turn always makes me feel comfortable whilst watching.. thanks again Dave.. 👍😃
I am so sorry but i couldn't help but laugh when it al fell off the glass 🤣 Love the ones that decided to go walkabout after being rehoused. I LOVE these kind of videos and long videos.
Great content as always. It's awesome to see a keeper that thinks a bit "outside the box" so to speak. Your spiders are healthy and your enclosures are excellent. Good stuff. Edit: Camera Lady is always on point. Fantastic job Camera Lady 👍
good looking enclosure and that male that made a run for it, the little feet tapping on the glass as he ran was super cool. Congratulations on the 7 slings, not much but definitely some to keep them going.
I like the fact that you acknowledge their capability to learn, most tarantula youtubers are completely unaware of that. But I would go two steps further: They web the door or lid up for a reason, and they remember exactly where the door or lid was when you leave it away without them realizing it. In this case, I often catch them trying to anchor their web in the middle of the air. :D That's one of the reasons I call them my "dried octopuses".
Dave the gun gets very warm lol . Super glue my ^*^* lol hahahahahah This was the funniest tank building yet mate ! And then it fell lol we are going to do this againnnnnn no defeat lol Awesome dave and daves wife !! Always love a trip to the beastie room !
They will be really happy inside that tank! looking awesome. Also happy that you can handle a Balfouri better than a Tillandsia apparently lol And don't worry, hot glue won't kill the plant, but might lead to it shrinking back and losing quite a bit of contact with the glue joint. Pushing them in a tight little spot was the right way to put them in. As you're having a cork background, you might even use a bit of thicker wire, tie a loop around the plant and push the ends into the cork. of course the same works when drilling a small hole in wood etc. Done right, you won't be able to tell. Next to the spider hobby, I'm also a little bit into succulents, cacti and all that stuff. At least some "bites" not to worry about lol
Loving the rehouse and such glorious Ts their colour is gorgeous cant wait to see the webbing in their new pad .... Great work Camera Lady as always ...
I rehoused my Balfouri communal a couple days ago I had nine juvies. The males truly are fast. I couldn't believe you had babies in there too. I enjoy seeing Balfouri communal rehouses because there is always so many to catch.
They are quite stunning spiders. I don't know if I'd ever get used to the 'pitter patter of tiny feet' when they're running on that glass. I must say, it is fascinating to hear when the females drum their feet during the pairing videos!
