I think they should....... over 50,000 views on this video now and all I get is a few pence off the adverts once a month 🤣🤣🤣 I'm glad it helped you out 👍
Thanks - just followed to set up my new hose. You made it so straightforward - the written instructions on the pack had me baffled. Much appreciated. Having lost my Dad a year ago, who did everything like this for me, I am determined to have a go and your instructions were spot on!
Sorry for your loss, I lost my own dad 7 years ago and the world can seem a daunting place without them. I will try my best to keep uploading videos like these because I know it helps a lot of people and that in turn gives me a lot of pleasure 👍
Hugely helpful, thank you! I couldn't make head nor tails of the very brief diagram on the packet, and this made it a straight forward and quick job :)
Great video and yes so very useful! The written instructions that come with the hose pipe are abysmal and your demonstration was clear and easy to follow, even to explaining that there are two different sizes of tap head. Hozelock please take note.
Useful tip. I always fill a mug with hot water when I’m changing fittings on my hose and dip the end of the hose into the water for 30 seconds. Makes sliding the hose into the fitting much easier and I think the plastic teeth grip better too when the pipe is warm. Do the same when you’re removing your fittings too. Especially in winter when the hose is much colder and stiffer.
This is a the tip I've been watching the videos for. Was outside in the freezing cold trying to connect new fitting to hose pipe. Was not able to get the hose to slide on and this little tip is what I'll try next.
Hozelock's instructions were bad and they didn't have a video for the 2480 on their website. Thanks so much, Jimmy, Hozelock should get you to do all their videos!
Fantastic video. Thank you so much. Been staring at the thing for weeks wondering what the hell do I do with all these bits 🤣🤣🤣 all together now, easy peasy...thank you x
Thank you for waking me up from a 5-day nightmare! It took me and the two men who just laid my turf a while to figure out that there was a part missing from the taped-on gubbins but at least I then knew what to go back to the shop and get and meanwhile the men got my sprinkler running direct from the tap. So then I was left on my own to set it all up and I was terrified to cut the hose in case I ruined the whole thing and I badly needed the whole length. I'm still not entirely sure what to do with the extension piece of hose I bought separately but I'll try using it to join the tap end to the side of the reel and that should avoid having to cut the hose after all. Also I'm left with a black washer, any ideas where that goes? I've no idea which packet of kit it came from. Your video is enjoyable to watch & your instructions magnificently clear, thank you, I'm thinking of printing a link to it and pasting it to every lamppost in Lincoln :)
Thanks so much for this video, I've been nagging my poor hubby to get a new hose for ages. I finally got one today and he just needed a little tip to finish assembly 😊
Jimmy, thanks for the superb advice mate. As I don’t have an outside tap with threads, I use a Hozelock screw adaptor on my kitchen tap, but as all snap together part sizes are standard, this will work with this particular model, and I just need to remember to cut a suitable length of pipe to reach from kitchen tap out of the window or back door, then onto the hosepipe device! It’s maybe 5 metres max. Thank you again for the excellent advice.
Got the hozelock all set up thanks, but unfortunately my outside tap is to old, so have to get a new one fitted,, but all ready to go as soon as new tap installed..
😃Thanks Jimmy the Mower for the walkthrough, especially the tip about connecting the hose and checking for leaks inside the middle of the reel. I had to redo mine and now it's working perfectly. What looked like a marathon job was actually really easy.
Thanks brother! Hozelock should drop you a sponsorship. Muxh better than the included sheet with the hose. Only tweak to the video i would give is that the ultramax has a spring from inside the tap end of the reel
I purchased online a rather pricey metallic hose reel. The steel hose connector that came with it was a tight fit and the pipe to the tap would get twisted whenever I turned the reel. Your video gave me an idea to use the plastic connector which solved my problem. Thank you profoundly 🙏
Super clear and helpful, great vid - thanks! Now off to go buy one. One question, I have a spray gun with a brass fixing, can you mix the fixings without leaking?
Yes the fixings should fit well together. However, you may have to change the rubber seals on the brass fittings over time. Good luck with it all. Jimmy 👍
Absolutely Fantastic video Jimmy the Mover. Very very informative, very clear, very well explained, with some real quality to do and not to do tips. Well done! Your a star. Many thanks
Thankyou so much. Setting up mine and Daughter’s first home and garden this was a life saver for me… explained well and made my life so much easier! Of course it’s raining today so watering my new plants isn’t needed but now I’ll have no excuse for a mucky car lol take care (I’ve subscribed) x
I thought they had stopped doing the springs now with the ribbed hose pipes. If you have got one then it goes in the end of the pipe on the inside of the reel 👍
Just got a like and sub from me, Jimmy! I bought this to replace an old Verve one which was tangled beyond all recognition and you couldn't wind in without it getting wrapped round the handle every 5 seconds! Saw your link on the review for this product on B&Q website and thought I'll watch that as these things can be a bit fiddly! Glad I did as got it all assembled and working in about 10 minutes. Thanks for the video mate, it was really useful and I'll be recommending people watch this on the reviews.
On my new one there is a long spring coming out from the hose connection point in the centre of the reel. I guess you just feed the hose over that spring
Wonderful vid - am going to order one of these, as it will cost us more in the long run to keep buying new Hozelock repair connectors for our old hose that keeps splitting and bending!
Jimmy hope you can help. So I bought this reel. But I have a tuffhose so I can't cut end off like vids. Ideally I want the internal part where you put the hose end in I need that to have a male connector to put the hoze in. Any ideas where to get this? Or the name of it? Amazon is the way to go. You can buy a double ended male connector to join 2 hoses together. Hope that helps. If you are still struggling then message me via my website and I will do my best to help.
You either need to have the hosepipe open so the water flows through immediately or you can change the fitting for a new one. The reason it pops off is either the water pressure is too high or the fitting is worn. I hope that helps, Jimmy 👍

Thanks mate, much appreciated. The instructions and diagrams on the packaging are pretty awful so this was really helpful.
That's why I make these videos, so much easier to see someone actually doing it.
Thanks for watching,
Jimmy 👍
I have an identical hose and the long hose kinks badly on the centre where it attaches in the inner connector. It's bound to burst at some point.
Completely agree - thank goodness for this video 😂
My pleasure 👍
Hozelock should pay you commission! Thanks for the clear instructions! 👍

A great video, I was able to assemble the pipe from this. The instructions were quite useless so I'm glad I found your video!
Thank you, I'm so glad it helped.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video...finally we have a hose pipe that doesn't leak...
That's fantastic and exactly why I made the video. Thank you 👍
Great video and yes so very useful! The written instructions that come with the hose pipe are abysmal and your demonstration was clear and easy to follow, even to explaining that there are two different sizes of tap head. Hozelock please take note.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback.

Thanks Jimmmy, hubby not feeling too good and your video helped me do this myself!!
Well that makes it all worthwhile, hope you and hubby have a great weekend.
Thanks for watching,

What do you do with the spring in the middle?
Lots of people have asked me about this but there wasn't one with my model so I don't absolutely know.
@@JimmyTheMower all set up now thanks to your video. Do you have any videos on setting up water butts?

So helpful, thank you 😊

This hose is much better than the one I got in the box with mine 😮
I think there are different standards of hose.
However, for domestic use, even the thinnest of hoses from the hozelock range is more than adequate 👍
Great video - thanks!
My absolute pleasure 👍
awesome video mate
Thank you 👍
Jimmy - there is a spring in the middle of my hose plus some red attachments. Any ideas ?
They have started to put a spring in the middle now to stop the hose collapsing on itself.
So its not essential ? @@JimmyTheMower
@davidjervis3356 I'm not sure, I haven't actually seen the new design. Just heard about it.

On my new one there is a long spring coming out from the hose connection point in the centre of the reel. I guess you just feed the hose over that spring
Yes, you've got the upgraded version. That spring prevents the hose from kinking and going flat.

Ideally I want the internal part where you put the hose end in I need that to have a male connector to put the hoze in. Any ideas where to get this? Or the name of it?
I could run another very shirt hose like 5cm from internal reel to the hozelock via male to male but this means I need 3 hoses all in and the gap is very tight to fit this small hose in.
Can't find anything online
Amazon is the way to go. You can buy a double ended male connector to join 2 hoses together.

How about connecting it to the tap itself??
Screw on the connector and then click on the end.
I will make a short video about it tomorrow so make sure you subscribe 👍
Great video. Nicely explained at a good pace. Same me a bunch of time 👍. Many thanks
My absolute pleasure 👍
I find that the one that plugs into the reel keeps coming off when the water is turned on??? Any tips to keep it on???
You either need to have the hosepipe open so the water flows through immediately or you can change the fitting for a new one.
The reason it pops off is either the water pressure is too high or the fitting is worn.
I hope that helps,
Jimmy 👍
Jimmy the mower thanks
