- President Biden visited the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse site Friday, vowing to use federal funds to help recovery efforts. During the visit, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced the "Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance" to begin rebuilding. CBS News' Kris Van Cleave reports.

The ship 's company should have insurance. I think they will be required to pay some. The state and the federal govt, mostly the latter, should pay most.
NO, the insurance payments will cover the cost but getting the bridge up and running is the most important thing. People need to get their jobs back and shipping commerce is too important to not do it.
Maryland is a small state. The ships insurance will pay some and probably Maryland but interstate infrastructure is the federal govt's responsibility. How would you feel if this happened in your neighborhood?

2 months to open the deep channel is not going to happen. I don't know why they lie about it to you. Maybe they have no idea too.
I am basically an expert on this situation. It's bad, very bad. This is going to take a long time to even just get that channel open. My estimate is 6 months at the earliest. And that will require a hundred divers and bigger cranes then are currently onsite. It will take another month to get assets and personnel in place.

I hope President Biden does cover the costs of rebuilding the bridge including a thorough investigation including an investigation on anyone who may have financially benefited from the collapse. The burden of this expense should not fall on tax payers and I thank President Biden for stepping up as one of the rich elite and taking the responsibility of the financial costs.

@@ballygra Try to educate yourself. This will go through a Federal Maritime Court. The ship is flying a Singaporean flag, is owned by a Japanese national who owns a fleet of 50 ships. No one knows what his debts are. The company is set up in the British Virgin Islands. There are the direct insurers and then reinsurance company's that will pay. The courts will determine liability and what each involved must pay. This will take time. In the end the government will be reimbursed just like the Egyptian government was with the ship accident in the Suez Canal.Get it or is it over your head?
