The tricky part of spelling "restaurant" is in the middle, the "A U". I teach this little visual... A customer bolts on the check after dining and the waiter chases him outside yelling "Ayyy You" (A.U.) 😎 I like your spelling acronyms. Very clever.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm not gonna remember I've watched this video, i can't recall acronyms the moment i need them. I just gave up on memorizing my young cousin's names 10 years ago. Also in highschool i had a friend that would sit with me in same bench and i would ask him to call others by name for me; I can't recall his name now and all of this started when i was in highschool. before that i was always an A+ student that would teach the math in class whenever teacher had an excuse for slaking off. But it caused me to choose another method for life, i now have a word document on my phone that lists all the people i now and how they are related to each other. As long as i have my phone with me i have the best memory of all around me.

    • @lucianoinso

Bro, from here it looks like most of your problem comes from mindset, you don't believe that you can remember so your brain doesn't get itself to it, you can exercise those skills and recover those capacities back, for remembering names maybe check Jim Kwik's technique, he also has a book called Limitless in which he explains how to exercise your memory, he had brain trauma when he was a child and ended up having serious learning problems, with time he told himself how to learn again and that's what he teaches, it worked miracles with me, I hope you give him a shot.

Look at the etymology, word origin, because that tells you the real story. Restaurant, restoring, is the French past participle (verb + ing) of restaurer, to restore. When you go to a restaurant, you are restoring your body with food.

Acronyms are better suited for kanji learning. I can't recall everything all the time. I need to write quickly and accurately, without relying too heavily on technology. Unfortunately, depending too much on the convenience of technology has diminished the benefit of developing the habit of writing.
