Again, I'm not getting through the whisky as quickly as usual due to less visitor traffic/sharing opportunities during lockdown. Still, I'm doing pretty well don't you think?
As usual here's the link to the spreadsheet with all the Recycled Scores to date: docs.google.co...
It includes links to "jump" straight to the point in the video where that whisky is covered.
Don't listen to one man's opinion!

Watched this on patreon. I will add here however that this intro music is such a beautiful, nostalgic, heart filling piece. Always comforted a little more when I hear it.
I'm glad I only edit it two or three times a year though Rob, it ends up being an ear-worm for days!
@@Aqvavitae lol I can imagine how it is on your end.
Once again Roy, you've outdone yourself. Not too many on this list have we had.
How are your taste buds after covid, now buddy? You worried me a bit.
It's very cool to have you watching! Slàinte, Dummies!
@@RebMordechaiReviews Still on the mend but coming back. getting more and more everyday. I can tell that its my smell really effecting my taste.
Watching 2 years later because I enjoy these so much.
Great work, as usual, Roy. I loved the little bin in the end too. Very creative! Cheers, buddy! -Drew
A gift from our Lee Ann! Cheers Drew! Happy New Year!
The sound of that fantastic intro music just made me smile, contracted the dreadful covid a week before christmas and have been so very ill,Christmas for my wife and myself has come and gone without tasting a drop, just getting back to normal thankfully and am able to enjoy a small dram,so to you,our star of the recycled reviews, cheers my friend, stay safe all and all the best for 2021,fingers crossed....
Peter - that's terrible but the great news is you're both back on the mend! Horrible stuff, and we're now hiding here with our health services in a terrible state trying to cope too. Still, glad you're on the mend! To your health Peter!
My absolute favorite part of these recycle videos is that beautiful music.
Darling by DJ Quads, said Roy Aquavitae (to me), I asked the same question earlier actually. 🤣
I think I’d find myself in a lot of trouble if I changed it now.... 😬
Always my favourites of your videos Roy. Love these recycled reviews!
Thanks Mike - good to have you watching!
Finally got to watch this Roy...... The legend of recycled reviews!!. .....long time may it continue
Thanks Glenn, I’m hoping the next one won’t take quite so long, there are a few bottles here in the kill zone!
@@Aqvavitae fantastic, it's such a light easy listening overview. I hope you and your family had a great Hogmanay!
Great to see you juggling bottles again! Thanks for the breakdown of each bottle and for keeping my list of what to get next honest. Cheers!
Thank Jonathan good to have you stopping by!
Always extremely entertaining, love these reviews. Cheers Roy.
Glad you're enjoying them! Cheers!
Don’t you just love this guy...?
jp allen? I love THAT guy!
YES!
Such lovely, soft-voice, personality, EH? 😁👍🏽
Great timing. I just binge watched episodes 1-11 over the holidays.
Nice! I'll warn you I'm not usually so punctual! 😜
Just watching now but, great to see you back already mate. Cheers.
I was just taking a we rest Jim! Cheers buddy!
The range of whisky covered, the insights & humour make these an always welcome addition to my RUclips inbox. I’m particularly looking forward to opening my Kilkerran 16 now. Slàinte Roy.
I think you'll come to enjoy it a lot. It's whisper quiet to start with...
Absolutely fantastic review. I'm glad you have not been shy to devote 37 minutes and not been tempted to edit it down. Every minute was interesting and enjoyable.
*Laphroaig 10* Yes, I agree that the 10 is watered down and is oh so frustrating for the likes of me and you to drink. As mentioned before, I ordered at great expense, the Laphroaig Cask Strength Batch 12 from London and got walloped by a huge Customs charge, but it was worth it! Delicious stuff.
However, I know quite a few guys here in Israel who love the standard bottling and practically drink nothing else. They enjoy the funky taste and the fact that you can pour it from the bottle into the glass, add ice, drink neat, whatever. As annoying as it sounds, there are loads of people out there that just love the presentation of Laphroaig 10. In a recent Zoom tasting evening, I presented a heavily peated Israeli single malt called "Yerushalmi," which I think is amazing, yet the same guys who love their Laphroaig 10, went out and bought it and complained that it was far too intense for them, even with water. What I would say is, by all means, keep the 10 at 40% abv, but give us a core range bottling with an age statement, bottled at 46% abv or more. (And don't tell me about the Quarter Cask! It's far too young and crude, with unpleasant plastic-y notes).
*Glencadam 10* is a truly excellent single malt as we have discussed before. Here in Israel it isn't cheap, selling for 260 shekels (£60). I too try to always have a bottle available.
*Bowmore* core range releases are, as you say, presented as the Islay whisky equivalent of the lowest common denominator. This is a shame as they are capable of producing some smashing whiskies. I bought a Tempest V Cask Strength 55.9% abv 10 YO last year which I thoroughly enjoyed but have not seen the bottle here again. I would readily buy that if I saw it on shelves.
*Teaninich* as well as Benrinnes are two exceptional under the radar distilleries. Every independent bottling of these two malts which I have tried have been something really special. I have two bottles of the Signatory Benrinnes 1996 bottling on its way to me.
*Deanston* I havened tried this but is it as bad as you make out? How does that Kentucky Cask Supermarket compare with say, the Glen Moray Classic? Yes, I agree that it should have been 43% abv but you don't think that it could act as a gateway bottle for casual drinkers into the Deanston world? I also kind of see the point of a Non Age Statement here, as speaking to people who buy these types of bottles, had they put a 6 Year-Old-8 Year Old age statement on it, this would put off many who would judge it as young harsh (in other words, not "smooth") whisky. Not having an age statement keeps them blissfully in the dark. Yes, I know that sounds pathetic to our ears, but that's how many people think.
*Catto's* Blended Whisky. Wow, I have never heard of it and certainly never seen this in Israel. I looked this up. The fact that it states that it is matured both in Bourbon and Sherry casks, I would have to omit it from my whisky purchase choice on Kashrus grounds.
I have never got into Bourbon and can barely tolerate Elijah Craig. Rather like much of American culture, it is all over smothering, everything coming all at once, over the top and ultra sickly sweet like trying to eat a gallon tub of caramelised popcorn. Most Bourbons have as much subtlety and depth as the average American TV show.
*Kilkerran* produces wonderful whisky. I really enjoyed the 8 Year Old Bourbon Cask matured release and went round Jerusalem and Tel Aviv buying up bottles. I still have two bottled left. I would love to get to know Springbank products more but their obsession with sherry and wine casks rather preclude this.
The sound effects on the tiny wheelly bin were brilliant. However, I'd watch out for that whisky drinking mouse you seem to have in your house who drinks those 1 cc bottles.
Hi Reb, great contribution for the community here and I see we more or less agree. Great you're enjoying Teaninich too - it's a little like Diageo's Caol Ila, it's very rare to find anything other than solid. Sometimes they're exemplary. You'll notice the slight mistake that the mouse never actually drank anything form those ("full") bottles thrown away!
@@Aqvavitae Ha Ha. I actually bought a gift box set of 1cc "Smallest whisky bottles in the World" consisting of a bottle of Glengoyne, Glen Grant, Grants, Whyte and MacKay, and Islay Mist about 3 years ago? I had them at the back of my cocktail cabinet. About six months ago I found them, still upright in the sealed gift box, but all the whisky had gone! Whisky ghost thieves or those pesky angels from Scotland? Despite having a plastic stopper on them, it seems all the whisky had evaporated. At least it proves there was real whisky in the bottles in the first place.
It's uncanny how similar our taste is. The Glencadam was one of my first single malts ten years ago and I've always held it in high regards. Your 9/10 is truly redeeming. Over the years my friends always liked it, after I poured it in. Take care Roy, all the best!
It lay far from my radar until a friend brought it over. A wonderful reminder of an under-the-radar hero.
Great episode, Roy. Will look for the Glencadam 10! Loved the special effects. (snow upwards! 😀) Thanks for the mention! 🙏🏼
Thank you for being there for so long my dear friend! Hoping we'll share the same company this year.... maybe!
@@Aqvavitae I am a believer! Glasgow is first on my flight list!

Damn you Roy :-D !!! Everytime after Recycled Reviews i have to go online....."add to the basket"....."add to the basket"...."add to the basket".....(etc).....then checkout.....then pay, immediately after i pay i cry over my bank account balance, then i try to survive until next payday....so i can watch another Recycled Review :-D !! Great job Roy !! Love this reviews ;-) . Take care !!
It's only a problem if it's bad whisky you're placing in that basket - and I think we both know better!
@@Aqvavitae i know that you heard this many times, but what you (with other whisky youtubers) are doing for us is invaluable. Mainly because of you, and other barflies i now know, what is worth searching and hunting for. Thanks to you Roy, many people around me know what to look for. You very much change our life for the better. Thank you :-) !!
@@stejskyn It's a mutual exchange Radek, never think otherwise! Thank you to you too...!
Love your recycled review! Keep them coming, Roy! Fan for life!
Thanks Bill! Nice comment!
Well done Roy ...As ever, knowledgable and brilliantly presented ...One of the best in my book!!
Thanks Allan - great to have you tuning in!
When I saw the fake snow at the beginning, I thought, "He's not going to leave that uncommented upon, is he?" And then you sent it upwards and did the reveal. Great humour, Roy, deft touch. So many enjoyable bottles in this '"batch", but I'll just quickly comment on the Kilkerran "Peat in Progress" series. I've been comparing Batch 2 and 3 recently and have been very impressed with what both offer, especially when you consider how young these bottlings are (3 to 4 years). To me, they're already giving some Islay malts a run for their money. Can't wait for the following batches. They're definitely doing something that Longrow isn't - and they're doing it at affordable prices! So credit to Mitchell & Co down there in Campbeltown. Keep up the great work, Roy - and "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Cheers.
Thanks Russell, I think I’m settling into KKHP batch 3 even better, maybe it’ll get a wee half a point or so as a lift in the “changed my mind” score column.⛄️
I have a bottle of Douglas Laing’s Big Peat holiday edition, 53.1% cask strength, natural color a blend from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol ILa and Port Ellen…. One of the best blends I have ever had in my life. Very Smokey… but rich and smooth…..
As soon as I saw this recycle review, my blood pressure dropped (a good thing) and a smile came across my face. Thank you so much Roy, we really needed this. Going out tomorrow to pick up a GlenAllachie 10 yr CS and I may take a look at a Signatory 11 yr Teaninich or Glencadam 10. Thanks again and I wish you a pleasant new year!! Cheers!
I'm confident about all of those prospective purchases and I'm also pleased I was able to send a little chill during these days my friend - cheers!
Glad that I bought a Glencamden 10 this week and looking forward to opening it. Watching your reviews from the Mediterranean island of Malta and enjoying every minute. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Ah sounds nice! thanks and let us know what you think of that subtle beauty!
Don't get drunk so soon cause you ruined the name of this damn good whisky. 🤣
Such a pleasure to watch these; so well presented, Roy! 👏🏼🤓
Thanks Paul!
Nice to see the Bookers being enjoyed. When we next get on a plane we can get you a refill.
I will please G-d be back in Campbeltown and Islay come next October. I would love to see you both there.
I was too shy to ask! Yippee! Happy New Year Phil & Deepa!
@@RebMordechaiReviews That does fit in with our normal visiting time Reb so could happen
It has been a while and this was worth waiting for, Roy. I loved every minute of this even though you were freezing. Great content, great insights, great advice, and like a great dram it was so easy to enjoy. The music, the video quality and everything is top notch and I loved the creative bit at the end as well.
Lovely words Bud, thank you my friend. It feels good to put stuff out that people like!
I was lucky enough to get a sample of the Kilkerran 8 from Mark @WhiskyWhistle. Great stuff.
He's a nice fella and you're a lucky fella - although I hear it's starting to arrive in NA recently?
@@Aqvavitae Not available in Quebec yet. I will surely grab a couple of bottles if they surface.
Sublime as always, Roy. My favorite review series on YT.
I FINALLY found and picked up a Kilkerran 12 in my area this week. I’ve enjoyed my first dram quite a lot. Excited to get into the bottle. I MUST find a Glencadam 10 next, sounds like some crackin’ stuff. Here’s to a better year, cheers!
KK12 may be a slow burner I imagine, but I bet you replace it! Thanks for tuning in again my friend!
Yay! A recycled review! A bright spot for this American Scotch fan this week. Thank you Roy. Haven’t been able to make the vpub in a long time due to scheduling issues. Hope you had lovely holidays and that your 2021 is going well so far! ❤️ from NJ USA!
Same back at you Aly and thank you for the nice words!
You got some lovely bottles there Roy. Cheers 😁🥃
They were all a pleasure! thanks for tuning in!
Another great Recycled Review Roy! Although when I saw that bit of Kilkerran 8 still left in the bottle I shouted at the the TV, "DON'T YOU WASTE THAT!" Then I remembered who I was watching! 🤣 Cheers Roy! - Matt
Cheers Matt - you might've spotted my "ahhh..." realisation I'd strategically left myself a wee drip! Also hope you spotted you got a wee mention on the recommended viewing list too 😉 Thanks Matt - Happy New Year to you and Cesar!
@@Aqvavitae I did notice! Thank you so much my friend!
Thanks Roy. These recycled reviews are my favorite on YT.
Glad you like 'em!
ROY!!! Oh, my word! As if your Recycled Reviews aren't awesome enough - with insightful views on the spirit, its value and ratings - you create a delightful vignette with the wheelie bin that is an absolute riot! I made Mark get out of bed to come watch it! LOL! Thank you for producing another rich and robust RR and I'm so happy you like your tiny recycling bin. Slainte, Y'all!
I love it Lee Ann! It had to feature... now I’m being asked for branded versions!
This is by far one of my favorite whisky video series, but I have to admit, I do miss the shorter 15 min format. Cheers Roy!
I hear you - but what do I cut out? When I make content for RUclips, rather than whisky folk - I think I miss some of the intricacies. I hope you can manage this session in 2 bites! 😅 Thanks!
I always love these recycled reviews Roy, I find it to be a real education, but an education from the heart. I love all things Kilkerran and I personally think that the 'Stiuireadair' from Bunnahabhain is as good a supermarket centric release as any, if you can get it on offer for £25. My go to blend this year is 'Naked Grouse', but the whisky that has affected my liver the most this year is Glen Scotia. The 15 is my favourite and I love the Victoriana too. Great revue as always, and all the best for 2021.
As insightful and excellent, as usual, Roy. I share your views on some of these prices too. Looking forward to trying that cadam 10. Love their 13 and 21.
I hope you get it for the same value we do Jason, thanks buddy!
Your Recycled Reviews are always my most anticipated videos Roy! Excellent as always.
Thanks John!
Kitty spotted at 4:26! Who is that handsome fellow? We've got an orange cat as well, gotta love them.
I think it was "Barley". Not kidding.
@@macallanfinerare2552 spot on Doc. It is indeed our Barley. 😅
Love these videos🙂. Hope you are doing good Roy. What a show off with those awesome graphics🙂
I'm doing well buddy, been meaning to swing by you n Dave's place!
Clicked as soon as I saw the notification. Cheers Roy!!!
Really appreciate it Emil!
Excellent video Roy, couldn't agree more regarding the Glencadam 10, by far the best bang for buck single malt out there and has been for a while, IMO, good to see you, all the best to you and the family, hopefully not to long before we can meet up again at GWC with the rest of the guys and gals.
I gotta tell you Bob, I'm missing it a lot. It's looking like I'll go a whole year without a visit to the (real) pub! Still, health is number one - looking forward to seeing you there!
How fantastic are the recycled reviews! I've binge watched all of them - fantastic Roy thank you!
Thanks Al! Should be quicker at getting to the next one!
Been missing these.. I have been through the whole series and restarted watching the series again.. I’ve used your spreadsheet as a model for my tasting journal. Thanks a lot.
Glad you're getting some use form it! Excellent. Thanks for watching too!
Outstanding video. I have only seen one Kilkerran it was selling for $120 dollars. Maybe I should have bought it 🤷♂️. Love the mini bin 👌. Cheers Roy 🥃
Which release was it Antonio?
@@Aqvavitae i didn’t bother looking since it was behind a glass cabinet and that just screams expensive to me
@@WhiskeyQuests maybe a single call release Antonio. I hope you uncover one at a fair price someday soon
Roy, I absolutely love these videos. Thank you for putting in the work. Your tone, your enthusiasm, your video quality. All of it. My favorite videos.
Thanks Lee! Very grateful to have you watching and for the kind words! Hopefully not as long for the next chapter!
Roy new to your channel and love this recycled format. I was able to try that Bimber as my brother was an early adopter and was so gave me a sample of it and their new make. I thought it was good, but the price does not sit well with me. I’m also familiar with Bookers. When I lived in the US I remember buying it for $50 a bottle. Alas the price has now gone up both side of the Atlantic. Great drink and shows what Jim Beam has to offer beyond the familiar white label. I grew up with Scotch, but my time in the US really opened my eyes to the quality bourbon that is out there. You’ve certainly given me some ideas of what to go for next.
Superb! Glad you’re enjoying and if the price creeps beyond comfortable, we’ll always find alternatives. Cheers, good to have you watching!
This kind of reviews are very interesting because I value the entire live of the whisky botle from neck pour to the last drop and many whiskys change greatly half way - and some times not for the better..
That's the idea Daslo! glad you like it!
@@Aqvavitae love your insites and vibe. One of the best whisky channels (and I follow many). What happened to the hero whisky series? I discovered the Glencadam 10 after you and is wonderful and with great price. Cheers!
Outstanding as always Roy. The music, the reviews, the banter. Always great fun to relax and watch.
Thanks Alasdair, good to have you watching and commenting 👌
welcome back buddy, there are times when i enjoy these more than a Vpub. i use the word times lightly though since i miss that personal interaction.
Can't it be noth? Thanks for stopping by Erik! Cheers buddy!
@@Aqvavitae good point, but hard to join in on Vpub due to me working.
For a moment I thought you’d missed the dribble in the Kilkerran 8! 😅 Excellent ‘RR’ Roy - great range of whiskies and knowledgeable insight into each, as ever. Snow, cat, mini-wheelie and hilarious blooper makes it my favourite so far...
Thank you Richard, so great you enjoyed it! I kinda had fun filming in the snow and cold too!
I enjoy your videos so much. I just got into Scotch to the point that I am liking it much more than Bourbon. I live in the United States in Ohio near Cincinnati. Keep up the awesome content.
Lots of good whisky folk in and around Ohio! Cheers!
Thanks for another great video Roy, a bottle of Glencadam is already ordered. I agree absolutely about 40% whisky having lost something, I try to always buy slightly higher than this. At 40% a whisky can still taste great but I always feel it's a shame the manufacturer watered it as much as they're allowed, rather than to the desired taste.
Has anyone tried putting a small amount of whisky in a freezer and removing ice as it forms? This would be mostly water and, in theory, should create a stronger version of the whisky when it warms up again. I might give this a go with a budget single malt.
Thanks MM, I've never tried freezing 40% alcohol.... and never had the thought. Although we have grappa and vodka in the freezer that is still very much liquid at 40%. Let me know how it goes!
I've done a bit of checking up and it appears it might not be possible with a domestic freezer. Apparently 40% alcohol needs to be minus 27C to freeze, that's a lot colder than fish fingers need to be stored at. Looks like I'll just have to stick to higher ABV whisky, not exactly a hardship : )
@@mainzman7239 ahh.... the silver (amber) linings!
Interesting review as usual, an this time even braver review to make it...without gloves...👏 I felt for you but was reassured when I saw you had sometimes some "funky fuel" left along with those bottles 🤣 I have to admit I haven't touched your Kilkerran 8 yo Sherry cask sample yet, saving it for a review along with the Bourbon one (both sample gifts so this will come into my new "Friendly Samples Reviews", a non definitive title, mind you videos I will start soon, having received a lot of samples lately I have to find a way to try them in a relaxed & grouped way...). I noticed I definitively have to check Rock Island 21 yo & Timorous Beastie 18 yo i still don't have in my collection...I loved the quick appareance of a lovely neighbourhood cat, btw 🐱 Slainte, Roy & see you soon in a vPub...😉
You’ll need to share your thoughts, the danger of course is over-sold over-hyped, hopefully you’ll see past that. The cat is our Barley! 🐈
@@Aqvavitae Sure, I'll do...(& you'll be the first to know, along with Luna Arran for the Bourbon one !) I think I'm experienced enough to do it honestly, if you permit me to think/say so...In the recent past I've learned to go beyond prejudices about some brands (& there's nothing better than good surprises, right ?) & then of course, tastes vary as we're not all the same (..). I forgot to mention I've not tried a Glencadam for a while so will be happy to get me hopefully soon at least the 10 yo, also to have a "brand calibrator" as I won a sample of the 25 yo in a live show, so I should receive it soon....exciting, isn't it ? Amazing, so welcome to Barley (a tricky question for the Quizz, though, could be "How many times did you see our cat Barley appearing in a Recycle Review ?" ! A tough one indeed ! )
This series is my favorite whisky series! Drink more so you have more recyclables and more reviews!
Doing my best during lockdown!
Don't make Roy become "too alcoholic" too soon 😁😆
Roy - your reviews are always entertaining, and your credits go the extra mile to raise our spirits. Masterful production quality, Sir! Thank you, and Happy New Year! ♥
Thanks for the lovely words Felix!
I couldn't keep my eyes off that KK8 heel! Brilliant stuff Roy, Cheers!
It was only going one place! Cheers Ken!
Yay! 30+ minutes of Recycled Review. What a feast! :)
The old advice was once "keep it short and sweet!" Then I realised, it's whisky - why rush it?
Roy, you are a true Whisky Evangelist, THANK YOU for your passion, information, and this channel. Cheers from Chicago! 🥃
Thank you Bobby, glad you’re tuning in and enjoying
Great recycled review! As I said on patrion - love the longer videos. Since you started talking about the Regional Malts from DL I‘ve been looking out for them. But they are just too expensive here in Switzerland, especially the age stated one, sadly. Thank you for all the work, and loved the outro, cheers Roy!
Glad you enjoyed it and sorry to hear the pricing is a little higher out there - especially when I'm evangelising based on value, that's a little frustrating. Still, one will come along at the right price and there's never a need to over-pay. Cheers Alexander!
Happy new year Roy, I love the Recycled Reviews. Totally agree with your comments on the Glengoyne Tea pot dram, just wish I didn't love it so much ( on my 3rd bottle !!! )
I’ll admit that I will miss it, and don’t rule out a potential second bottle here 😬 Cheers Chris!
Looking forward to trying Bimber. Oh hello, cat! A sneaky four legged barfly?🤔🤣
Well done Roy!! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
ps thanks for adding my vid to the list!🙏
You’re welcome Mark, and I’m surprised I’ve not been video bombed by a car before now, they’re uncanny at knowing exactly when to get under your feet! You’re welcome on the link. Always happy to add any I’ve missed.
Thanks for another great recycled review Roy. I eventually managed to track down a bottle of the Kilkerran 16 so I'm looking forward to cracking that open!
Hope you love it Ian!
Love these videos. Thanks Roy.
Thank you my friend!
Gonna try that Glencadam I think. Sounds very interesting.... A few on there that are (possible were now! 😉🤣) under the radar.
That Chorlton, well you know you know. 😁🥃
I know I know! Thank you Mr.The Alchemist for your generous donation!
Highly recommended, Seve!
The Glencadam is a wonderful bottle! I picked up as soon as I saw Roy’s HERO review of it and it has not disappointed! Cheers!
Continue to love and enjoy your recycled reviews
Thanks Martin! Appreciate the nice comment
Great review Roy always enjoys these. Your spreadsheet is most appreciated a first port of call for any research thankyou. See you at the next vpub. Slainte
Glad it's helpful Leejay! See you in the pub my friend!
Number 12 already! Halfway through, I thought : no Roy, you can't juggle 2 bottles. Then you end up juggling 3. Loved the catbomb too (barleybomb ?). Very good and balanced selection. You might have guessed I would have rated the KK heavily peated a tad higher, and I am enjoying batch 3 even more than batch 2. Thanks for more than 36 informative, enjoyable and witty minutes! And yes, hail Ebbhead
I know Aeror, the KK HP possibly does deserve a little higher, and batch 3 is shaping up nicely. I think it doesn't do well sipped along side (admittedly more mature) Islay releases, it seems to bring out the farmyard and younger side of it, but it's growing on me. The other KKs hook me from the shoulder of the bottle down. Also, I didn't do such a great job of juggling this time, not just my first but also my second bottle drop.
And finally, yes - all hail our boy Rolf. Our Ebbhead!
Fantastic as ever Roy I can sense another purchase coming up. Happy new year and catch you on the next Vpub!
Will look out for you there Mike!
Thanks Roy great review and I did like the snow effects going upwards 😝
I had to add a little atmosphere! Cheers Gino!
Christmas empties! Love the way you let the cat out of the bag (4:28). Always enjoy recycled reviews! :). Happy New Year, Roy, to you and yours from Canada - looks like Canada too, eh? :)
Thanks Richard, I think this kind of snowfall counts as nothing much in Canada, but the kids enjoyed it! Me too.
Recycled reviews are the best. Absolutely love your take on Whisky, Roy!
Thank you Joel for the really nice comment
Another fantastically done review! Me thinks I need some Kilkerran 8 in my life.
What's for you doesn't pass you! Hope you snag one!
Roys post Christmas recycled bin All the binmen in the area saying thats a two man lift all jokes aside thanks for helping to keep our spirits up last year and cheers to you and yours
Thanks, you're very welcome! I do get the occasional sideways glance form the binmen. "Here's the dude who films himself finishing whisky at the bin"
Excellent round of empties guvnor. I think you're on point with all your observations. The Glencadam is the most important. Keep the price right and we will buy and buy again. I like Bimber but the novelty has worn off unless the price comes down. That mantra - "we're using unique distilling processes and amazing oak selection" is becoming rather too common-place by distilleries selling 3 or 4 year old whisky at ridiculous prices. There is reputable 18 year old whisky on the market for less. Unfortunately, Booker's now belongs in the graveyard of overpriced and almost impossible to buy bourbons in the U.K. Ending with Kilkerran, a distillery I'm very fond of but you can't buy anything apart from the 12 anywhere in the U.K.
We agree my friend. Anyone has the freedom to run their business model as they like. But pockets have long memories. We'll support in the early stages, unless speculators and collectors will drive things. What happens when the secondary collapses and your primary prices compete with it? The years ahead remain curious for sure. Thanks for watching Welsh, hope you're well my friend!
@@Aqvavitae Just a wee follow up. I got 2 of the Kilkerran sherries. One finished and one in back up. The same with the Bimber re-charred oak. The Kilkerran Peated is interesting and a fair price but too young to be truly enjoyable. Wild Turkey Rare Breed at 58.4% is a wonderful bourbon which is always available and well priced. Keep an eye on the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof as well. I snapped up a couple of those in the Christmas period for £55 a bottle. You make a good point about whisky being so expensive that we can't really enjoy it as we should. I've rediscovered my love for Talisker 10 and a large part of that was the fact I was buying it for £30 and enjoying it for what it is without worrying about the fill level. I'm with Ralfy (and you I think) when it comes to the general state of the whisky market right now. I still get good stuff but I've jumped off the merry go round. I feel I have a more holistic position (put it like that) now.
Been a tough year for us as far as Spain is concerned including some tragedy. My wife and I are well though and thank you for asking. Cheers and better and healthy 2021. Love to you and yours. WT
@@welshtoro3256 for sure we’re aligned. You’ll have heard a tighter focus from me in the last year, not least due to personal circumstances changing. There’s lots of great whisky to be found at more reasonable prices. Sorry to hear you’ve had a tough year my friend, I hope 2021 brings lots of health and positivity Welsh!
I love this series so much.
Thank you! ☺️
Finally a no nonsense take on the Laphroaig Ten.
You know what tho? I have another bottle in the cabinet 😅 it has its fans and it’s moments I guess, but there are other Laphroaigs out there that do it better. Cheers Coop
I enjoy these reviews do much! I can't keep up with your journey by far, pushing it I go through 4 bottles a year. But it is my own little journey and I enjoy it.
Heels please! (Yeah, I know. Just trying to catch you off guard 😉)
Hehe! thanks Maarten! My pace is quicker with help that has been missing during lockdown! Must try harder! Cheers!
What a beautiful video. Looking good Roy. Keep making these awesome videos. 🎊😇
Thank you so much and Slàinte!
Always a bonus when a recycled review pops up, thanks Roy 👍👍 I have my fingers crossed 🤞 that the shirt 👕 I ordered will make it for the next Whisky Club meeting - should create some conversation 😉😉
Let me know when it lands! Hope you love and thank you!
Totally agree with the Deanston Kentucky bottling, fully chill filtered for sure, despite whatever blurb they have on the bottle, removing so much from that whisky. Just make it 46% Distell don't chill filter it and put the price up a couple of quid. It would still fly off the supermarket shelves!
Thanks Ben, I kinda like Deanston just the way they’ve been doing it in recent years. Can’t stop them chasing those steady-but-tight volumes but I hope it doesn’t encroach on the good stuff!
That was a lot of fun. I’m a big fan of the Kilkerran releases to. 😃👌🏻🥃
They can’t put a foot wrong right now Ron
@@Aqvavitae 😃
Love what you do, looking forward to hanging out with you again post-pandemic! Slainte Mhath my friend!
The pandemic needs thrown in the bin 😠 Hoping things turn a corner son Matthew!
Another fantastic Recycled Review Roy... if not a little tortuous... day 10 of Dry January, ridiculous idea!
Brutal! Sending strength, I hope that 1st Feb dram tastes all. the sweeter for the effort!
Always love the recycled reviews!
Good to have you dropping by! Hope you’re well!
@@Aqvavitae I stopped drinking basically all last year so sadly, part of that was staying away from whisky channels that would make me want to indulge. But I’m catching up with everyone now and it’s good to be back :)
Good video. Glad you mentioned corks 😂
A gripe of mine, particularly the ones on the Distell bottles, even if they dont break they crumble slowly and end up in the bottle etc.
It doesn't happen too often for me, but when it does it's a pain for sure. I still prefer them over screw tops, if for nothing more than the ceremony of opening!
You had a very good Christmas & New Year !
I did Eoin! But truthfully a lot of these have been around a lot longer than that.
Could'nt agree more on the Bowmores! Keep up the good work
Another great RR, thank you Roy! This one is a bit kinder to my budget, as I’ve had most of them 😅
Ahh... nice! You're doing it right Desie!
Love the wee bin at the end. I had the same Teaninich earlier this year, Spirit Works Tom put me onto it, still a drop left but went through that quickly, also put it in a couple of blind challenge's I put together. Cheers chap.
I think Teaninich is as safe as Caol Ila to buy blind, honestly Paul. Glad you liked the Chorlton, he's a good lad that Tom.
@@Aqvavitae one of the best chap👍
Exhibit #19B that Roy is a time traveling whiskey god... "I'd like to see more from Bimber in the past" sloppy slip-up... eventually the evidence will be overwhelming! :P
Well, I suppose technically he was right as the next batch of future releases will be bottled from casks laid down before this video was made.
Hehe, I was surprised by it and thought about an edit, then I thought I could justify it. Then I realised it doesn't matter too much 😅 I put it down to age which is, in some ways, time travel. 😜
@@RebMordechaiReviews what Reb said! (Nah - just me slipping up, not for the first, or last, time.)
Great content as always! All the best from Sweden.
Thanks Tom - glad you enjoyed!
Wooooooo love these reviews Roy!
Woooo love these comments SHayla! thanks for tuning in!
Love the cat.... not the first time the feline did a photo bomb. Makes me wonder if the cat sees you coming and thinks to itself, “I’ll wait until he starts recording and then jump out!” I’d love to interview the recyclers who empty your bins to see what they think is going on.
😅 yeah they probably think I’m partial to sudden binges...! I didn’t spot Barley until I was editing 🐈 Cheers Erik, stay well!
Nice review video, as always Roy
Thanks Thomas, glad you tuned in!
Shall join all the welcome backs in the comments! Except the Bookerd and Laphroaig, the only other bottle I think I'll have any hope of finding in my area is Kilkerran heavily peated. I don't mind peat, but I'm slow to chase them. May look into Kilkerran 12 after trying Alisdair's KK16 tomorrow for the lock in! Slainte! 🥃
Remind me where you are Daniel? Thanks for watching all the same!
Love these recycled reviews Roy. Excellent videos, great whiskies and a very good presenter. Cheers Roy. Question Roy, can you say when hero whisky #2 is coming out???
Cheers David and thanks! I know you know the answer before you asked - "soon!" 😅. honestly though, I have an idea for it and I'm just trying to settle with it first. Very soon...
Back, got myself a Bruichladdich “waves”
An oldie! hope you enjoyed the video and the dram! Cheers Rombout!
Finally a new recycle episode! 👍👍
Not getting through the bottles quick enough! Cheers!
@@Aqvavitae cheers.. not quickly enough is actually good. There is only so much a liver can take😬💪
Some fantastic Whisky evangelism there Roy. Not a great lover of Kilkarren despite having 3 in the cupboard, certainly wasn't blown over by 8yo, I still have a bottle unopened with no real interest. The Glengoyne Batch 7 I just loved and will buy another before I open my reserve bottle. THE glencadam 10 is replaced when I open one. The Douglas laing always have the TB 18 in the cupboard. Love the little bin Roy! Any chance of stocking a few. As always fantastic content. Love it.
You'll be able to swap it with many for something more to your liking Malcolm, no doubt. I had a thought about finding and branding the wee bins, but I haven't as of yet. Thanks for watching my friend!
Nice Idea Roy, it had crossed my mind, but I'm thinking of maybe auctioning it off for charity after we've come out of this bloody mess. Keep the format going buddy, very enjoyable stuff, more now we're stuck in.
