I had the _No. 1 In Heaven_ record back in those days. I loved the Electronica and Disco beats - all fine tuned by Giorgio Moroder. ''Beat The Clock'' and ''No.1 Song In Heaven'' felt larger than life in the roller-skating parlours, the gaming archades, the roller disco and under 18's Discos in Melbourne. Still sounds great!
Sparks like to experiment and this is a collaboration they did with electro/disco producer Giorgio Moroder. Moroder worked on a lot of Donna Summer's hits.
This album is considered a breakthrough synth pop album , 1979, by a band that until then was considered glam rock. Just saw them July 1 in Boston , awesome show . This song is a concert fav , but it’s more rock in their live shows. Try their new song The girl is crying in her latte featuring Kate Blanchette in the video.
And then Sparks invented Euro-Disco. That is not a drum machine, but a real live human playing with amazing precision. Because it was a dance club number, it doesn't really translate well as a reaction song. Their latest -- 'The Girl is Crying in her Latte -- just came out earlier this year. They even toured for it. Not too shabby for a band that's been around for over 50 years!
I've loved Sparks forever, but never was a big fan of this particular song (or era), but I saw them perform live last week and it sounded fantastic! On stage wiith a band, it sounded much more organic and far less techno.
Thanks for paying attention to Sparks, glad you both seem to like the song. You might want to try a more recent song from their album "A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip", 2020: ruclips.net/video/IsY1GZGxUB0/видео.html
Giorgio Moroder Produced this & Life In Tokyo by Japan back to back in 1979. Both were hits in the UK. I like the Japan song 🎵 more. Respect this ...but its a bit long.
Meh! Not the version I remember. See if you can find the official video for ' When do I get to sign my way?' Great track and you'll enjoy the video too
It might be called number one song ....l think far from a number one 😂try James rayne ..song hammer head ..it has Olivia newton John doing back up vocals ..or the song... slave by James rayne...
Disco that asks it's dancers to consider their own mortality! Sparks lyrics always work on multiple levels..
I was never into Sparks too much. I saw a documentary on Netflix and it all made sense. Really cool you played their muzic.
Great band music always great live group

Almost as precise as Stephen Morris of Joy Division/New Order

It worked well live.
That has to be one of the ones Giorgio Moroder played on.
