Our selection consists of beautiful beaches, mountains, cities, landscapes, historical sites and other places of interest satisfying the needs of holidaymakers of all ages. Special thanks to Gergely Dombóvári, the composer and performer of the wonderful music.
Crete island was the centre of Europe's first advanced civilization, the Minoan (c. 2700-1420 BC). The archaeological site of Knossos Palace, famous for the legends such as Theseus and the Minotaur or Daedalus and Icarus, is just one of the miracles.
Besides the legendary historical places, Crete offers you a wide variety of beaches, such as the best-known turquoise lagoon of Elafonissi, or a wonderful 6-hour walk tour in the famous Samaria gorge.
Greece is known for its hospitality, Crete island is one of the most popular tourist destination in the country. Visitors can reach the island via international airport of Chania and Heraklion, or by boat to the main ports of Heraklion, Chania, Rethymno, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. The ferry route takes 8-9 hours from Athens (Piraeus).

One last the oldest places in the world... the mother of Mediterranean kitschen and for beginning of the west civilization.. Number one in the world about sunshine hours... must visit 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

Athens was kind of depressing though. So much trash and graffiti as well as just run down areas. On one hand it has beautiful architecture but then you notice that there is a dark side to the city.

Fantastic video...What brings back so many great memories for me was the color and clarity of the ocean. That dark turquoise blue ocean along with the beautiful coral reefs. I was in the USAF back in those days and went TDY to Iraklion AFS a few times back in the late 1980s. Such a great place:)

I Liked Crete 2018 and would recommend it for families n backpackers couples , I would love to go back as I didn't see it all The Gorge was Amazing got other countries to see life is to short to go to the same place every time so its back in the Cue Madeira is next /

Saw that island
CHANIA is not the second largest city of Greece but from Crete. Heraklion has 140 k people. Chania ony 55 k. Chania is Number 35 in city size in Greece
The subtitle in the slideshow is correct, it says: Chania - The second largest city in Crete.

You missed the iconic Balos.
Crete is beautiful but elefanisi is not accessible unless you drive 4 hours or do a day trip to the south of the island.

Living in Crete is different, it‘s a hard life, all around neglected dogs and cats, it‘s nothing for animal lovers! I‘ll sell my house for this reason after seven years and horrible experiences with locals, cannot find inner peace nor paradise here!
