It goes without saying, this channel is amazing. The density of information and variety of selections is A+, and the humor is great. The Notturno album is something I need to check out. A few new albums I dug the past few weeks are Myrkur's Spine and Wayfarer's American Gothic.
I really liked that Myrkur record. I just wish the music has a biiiiit more power behind it. The production is a little wonky.
Sulphur Aeon was great. There was a surprise split from Dream Unending and Worm called Starpath that deserves praise, perfect for the season.
Oh nice! I’ll scope that, thanks!
Killer split
Hi friends, we thank you very much for listening to the album and promoting it on your channel! It always gives us a good, hearty chuckle to hear the descriptive ways of attempting to let the listener know what we might sound like. "Napalm Death and Brutal Truth violently colliding with The Pixies and U2", and even though I despise U2, it's still a fantastic statement! Anyway, Colin Marston engineered/recorded the album and contributed many awesome key/synth parts (but he did not add backing vocals), and Dave Case is indeed our bass play and the current bassist of Helmet. Will Smith, our vocalist, was previously a member of Artificial Brain. The drummer and guitarist, who are not well-known musicians outside of the band, are no slouches themselves. Anyway, I'm rambling, thanks again for paying any attention to your music, it's great to have other people becoming aware of the album. Cheers.🙂
It’s an absolutely ferocious and unique record my friends! Would love to catch you guys live sometime.
Awesome groups here. Nice list guys.
My favourites are Sulphur Aeon and Monosphere ❤
Do you think this is Sulphurs best record yet?
Atm,is on par with their previous works. I’ve been spinning it a lot though, and keeps getting better.
Damn, that Sulphur Aeon album rips. And I have been convinced to make time for Svalbard, finally one might say :D
Ghosts of Atlantis - Riddles of The Sycophants
Mors Subita - Origins of Fire
Theocracy - Mosaic
Bloodred Hourglass - How's the Heart?
Would love your thoughts on Svalbard
I'd be so lost without this channel. Please, never stop posting!
We’ll be here my friend!
Svalbard absolutely SLAYED it, that's a surefire album of the year contender for me. And I seem to be in the minority that didn't care for Skin Show by The Lion's Daughter, but Bath House honestly blew me away.
I’m glad you liked Bath House, Lions Daughter deserves so much more attention.
Great list guys. So glad you gave some attention to a few bands who I feel are seemingly being overlooked. My top of the Month were the new albums released by Stortregn, Svalbard, On Thorns I Lay, Decembre Noir, and Kaunis Kuolematon. Svalbard's was probably my favoriteof the month. The emotions on that album are insane.
Yeaaaah man, it was a solid month for melodic and moody metal records
Sweet list. A few albums here I missed that I have to check out. Here are my favorites of October.
1. Svalbard - The Weight of the Mask (blackened hardcore/post-metal/post-rock)
2. Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals (blackened death metal)
3. The Callous Daoboys - God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys EP (mathcore/post-hardcore/pop punk/electronic)
4. Dream Unending/Worm - Starpath Split (atmospheric death-doom/blackened death-doom)
5. Wayfarer - American Gothic (atmospheric black metal/americana/country)
6. Dreamwell - In My Saddest Dreams, I Am Beside You (screamo/post-hardcore/shoegaze)
7. THE ANSWER LIES IN THE BLACK VOID - Thou Shalt (atmospheric doom metal from Thy Catafalque's female vocalist)
8. Auriferous Flame - Ardor For Black Mastery (black metal)
9. Myrkur - Spine (folk/post-rock/atmospheric black metal)
10. Ragana - Desolation’s Flower (blackened doom metal/screamo)
Also I wasn't sure if I should include it here or wait until November since it came out on Oct. 31 but the new album from melodic black metal band Crystal Coffin is fantastic as well.
I gotta scope that Crystal Coffin album, you’re not the first to plug it!
Wayfareer and sulphur aeon are so good. I think you guys got me into Sulphur Aeon
Nice! I’m glad you found them!
Thank you guys! Me and Kjiel are really glad to see Notturno included in your October favorite metal albums!
Thanks for the amazing album!
Love these lists! Big shout out from New Zealand. Thanks for all your awesome work.
Hey thanks mate! Cheers!
The song writing and duet vocals of Svalbard make for a extremely satisfying listen, they know how to push the right buttons to make you tingle. What more can you ask for? Well thought out music, that deserves a listen. They crafting sonic landscapes out here
Wayfarer 🤘🏼 incredible album
Sure is
I watch your channel and then I just keep buying albums. Now I have a nice collection.
Happy to help lol
Mine:
End - the sin of human frailty
The Voynich Code - insomnia
Stortregn - finitude
Year of the knife - no love
Svalbard - the weight of the mask
Oct wound up heavy in the hardcore but Ive heard the praises for afterbirth and will go check them out.....now
Do it!
These three were my anticipated releases for Oct
Beastwars - Tyranny of Distance (cover album of New Zealand artists, with distinct Beastwars makeover)
The Answer Lies in the Black Void - Thou Shalt (second album from Martina Horváth and Jason Köhnen, awesome atmospheric doom)
Domhain - Nimue (debut EP, blackgaze/doom)
Thanks for those additions!
Thou Shalt is really good!
As usual, another awesome show and quite a few albums for me to dive into and see what happens! Thanks a million and Keep it Metal 🖤🤘🖤
Thanks bud! Have a wonderful weekend!
@@forgemastermetal Thank you and back at you guys! 🤘🤘
I need to checkout Restless Spirit and On Thorns Lie. Thanks dudes 👍👍
It's so good!
My favorite is without a doubt Sulphur Aeon!! Listen to it all day long!! This goes straight on my AOTY List!!
💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘
Would you agree it’s maybe their best record yet?
I really loved the new Wayfarer. Svalbard and Sulphur Aeon also come to mind
Yep!!
Nice to see Sorceror on this list.for me, they sound like the reincarnation of Tony Martin era Sabbath, which is a pretty good thing in my book. Autopsy are hit or miss for me, but this new one is a lot of fun, and my fave by em since Macabre Eternal. Defo gonna check out that Wayfarer album, ive heard a lot of good things about it. Another one i enjoyed was Endseeker - Global Worming! Nothing original at all, just really solid Swedish DM worship from Germany!
Nothing wrong with a solid SW death metal album
Just took a chance on Svalbard. Glad i did....its brilliant. One of my favourite albums of the year.
Nice!
With limited edition you get The Reverence EP as disc 2 yeah.
Wayfarer awesome.
Nice!
Svalbard and Restless Spirit have been playing in my headphones nearly without break since they came out; absolutely excellent albums from them!
So good!
Great list. Not a doom fan but glad you have the other genres well covered. I have to check out In but not of after that impassioned review!
Edit: also agree about Wayfarer. Wow! What a great album. Been listening to it a lot since it dropped.
Right?! So good. They nailed it with this one.
Such a diverse month! My favorites were the God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys EP and Seven Crowns And Seven Seals.
Awesome choices - any others peak your interest?
This channel is amazing.
Thanks pal! 🖤

Epic list!! How do you even listen to all of this in a month haha
@@forgemastermetal Depending on the length, i have enough time to listen to 3-4 albums a day, at home and on my job.
So many highlights on this list. I love the new Wayfarer, for me it's also the first of their albums that really works for me. It's a late and strong aoty contender.
I didn't even know about the Decembre Noir album, I knew they had some new songs on the way, but I thought it was an EP and not a full album. Also, Sorcerer just makes me so happy. They've been my go to archery range band for years now and the new album did not disappoint in the slightest.
Looks like I have to check out On Thorns I Lay. Svalbard is also definitely on my list.
Dude Sorcerer is the perfect archery range band haha. I gotta try that! What kinda bow you got?
@@forgemastermetal I've got a Hoyt Stratos compound for competitions and a old Hoyt hunting compound for fun. ;-)
Cristal Coffin... unfortunately released 31st Oct, probably will not be included in Oct lists and Nov lists. But for me strong contender for top 10 of 2023.
I gotta circle back to that one!
I absolutely love the Svalbard and Wayfarer albums! Both are on my year end list without a doubt.
Yeaaaaah buddy
I really hope elm street's the great tribulation is on this list (power thrash from Australia and they were featured in the movie deathgasm back in 2015 stellar band extremely talented) but excited to see what you put down
Are you surprised!?
Wayfarer is my AOTY on reapeat since is release.
So good
Tulpa by Linus Klausenitzer robbed my heart. Something special. I'm excited about the new Decembre Noir and StortRegn albums.
They’re great!

2. One of Nine - Eternal Sorcery
3. Afterbirth - In But Not Of

5. Svalbald - The Weight of the Mask
6. Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals
7. Sepulchral Curse - Abhorrent Dimensions

What a great month!
Dang, you guys weren't kidding about the Notturno album. Dear Lord that thing slaps.
It’s really cool and super unique!
Afterbirth is really something else, great album!
Seriously!
Bath House is a fantastic album!! Check out Carnation - Cursed Mortality and Xoth - Exogalactic both deserve an honourable mention for October IMO
Both great albums but they came out in November
Oh yeah 😂😂😂 thanks dude
I listened to Carnation today. HOLY SHIT!
In October, my picks are On Thorns I Lay, Berzerker Legion, and Endseeker.
Nice dude!
Autopsy and Suffocation are my top 2 release of 2023. so far.
They’re both SO good
Top 5 for the month :
1: Násvelgr - Draumrof
2: Akouphenom - Death•Chaos•Void
3: Voidescent - Dust and Embers
4: Ὁπλίτης - Ἀντιτιμωρουμένη
5: Owdwyr - Receptor
Nice!
The young band Eradikated's first album released in October and it is fire. Swedish fast thrash metal. Very good.
I gotta scope that!
Notturno's last album was good. Will have to hear this new one.
Did you scope it yet? What did you think?
This is my top 15 of October:
- Sorathian Dawn - Radiant Terror
- Berzerker Legion - Chaos will Reign
- Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns And Seven Seals
- Aldaaron - Majestic Heights, Melancholic Depths
- Stortregn - Finitude
- Asagraum - Veil of Death, Ruptured

- Cirith Ungol - Dark Parade

I think I missed the On Thorns I Lay album. I don't remember listening it. 🤥
Nice lineup mate! What’s your top 3?
On Thorns I Lay is so odd because they put out some pretty bad albums but also some really great ones. Notturno sounds great, as does Svallbard which I will need to investigate. Wayfarer; now that sounds unique. Terrific list, as always.
Thanks for watching! Did you scope any of those yet?
@@forgemastermetal I tried Svalbard and Wayfarer. Still need to do Notturno.
Svalbard might be my album of the year - it's probably either that or Urne.
Nice!! That Urne record slaps
EXECUTIONER - False Idols (thrash), PUTRID EVIL - Exhumed ... From Unhallowed Land (death grind) and CRIPPLED FOX - That's Just Life Now (hardcore punk).
I missed those! Thanks man!
October Tide album was pretty good! Also The Offering by Testimony of Apocalypse is surprisingly good! Also Finitude by Stortregn is a sleeper in the progressive death metal!
That Stortregn record rules so hard. I think I liked their last one more tho.
Svalbard and Unverkalt are my two favourites
Would you agree this is Svalbard’s best record?
@@forgemastermetal yes it is
Wayfarer don’t get enough love. That album fucks.
Agree!
On thorns I lay is a true gem.
Definitely!!
I gotta check out that Afterbirth. I'd add Asagraum (all female black metal), Marthe (one woman black metal) and Malokarpatan (folky first wave inspired black metal).
Nice! Thanks for the Recs! You got a favorite from October?
Worm/Dream Unending
Sadistic Force
Cirith Ungol
Autopsy
Strigoi(says Nov 3 release but I've had physical copy sent to me a week ago)
You got the special treatment!
Wayfarer and svalbard Aoty🎸🤘🔥
So fuckin good
Stortregn -- "Finitude"
\m/
Great album, but I liked their previous record more I think.
Maybe it's not your thing, but for October for me the best album is by far Wolvennest's The Dark Path To The Light. Psychedelic, ambient and some times as black in their atmosphere as a black metal band, it's imo, one of the best albums of the year.
I honestly think I missed it, thanks for the reminder man!
On Thorns I lay might be one of the best albums of the year!
It’s so good
Não posso acreditar que vi o famoso même da Renata Sorrah num vídeo gringo de Metal, vejam em 8:15 min!!!! I can't believe I see one meme from brazilian actress Renata Sorrah at 8:15m!
A classic meme!
Guys, how about Wratheon? Put that killer band on the map!
Neva heard of em!
Music aside, what I want to know is why do they have matching hairdos? or more specifically why did the guy in the white shirt copy the style of the other guy? :))
Wonder about something that actually matters.
@@forgemastermetal if it doesnt matter than why did you do it? :))
You asked the question, lol. It clearly matters to you because you’re f*ckin weird. It wasn’t a conscious decision. If it annoys you, good. :))
@@forgemastermetal I am fucking weird? you copied the other ones hairdo and it was not consciously done? right. not because I'm fucking weird but because you lack a personality :)) your reviews suck balls, I return to this channel every once in a while just to remember why I never liked anything on it. and its mostly because of you white shirt guy. :)) the other guy is more naturally charismatic and pulls off a hairdo like that. you just come across as cheesy and a dorky try-hard.
“I return to this channel every once in awhile just to remember why I never liked anything on it.” yeah, you’re super f*ckin weird dude. I’ll take the free engagement from dumbasses like you who obsess over stupid sh*t. :)) Stay mad
Let that long hair flow in this ep lol
Yep haha
Not a big month!!!!
Hard disagree my friend!
no mouth for war?
Suggest them, tell us why they’re good
