Danny Shervin is a painter based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was born and raised in Jackson and grew up with the Grand Tetons in his backyard.
Growing up in Wyoming provided an incredible background to fuel his passion for art. He stumbled upon painting with gunpowder in college at the University of Montana in Bozeman and started experimenting with it later down the road.
His medium of choice is gunpowder and acrylic paint. He is best known for his wildlife gunpowder paintings on canvas and wood. Each painting is one of a kind and takes hours upon hours to get each and every detail set in place before burning it at the very end.
His work has been featured in the September/October 2015 issue of Mountain Living, at the Jackson Salon Show and Whodunnit at the Center for the Arts in Jackson Hole. He placed second at the Jackson Salon Show at the Center for the Arts in Jackson Hole.
When he is not painting, Danny enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hiking and being outdoors.

    Hi Danny,
I have to say your very talented and i love the detail you put into your art!!!
    really AMAZING!!
I have a school project that i want to use with gunpowder and was wondering if you could answer a couple of my questions?
I was wondering if the base of it could be wood or would it be problematic using with gun powder because it might burn
and the end results does the powder stick to the board or would it only leave the burnt marks as an end results?

I really want to get into this. Where do you get the black powder?

Hello! What you do is really fascinating! I saw a series of these that you did (on Facebook) the first one was the ram. I saw your name really small on top so had to look you up! If you don't mind my asking, I was wondering how you apply the gun powder? It looks like maybe it's mixed with black paint and then applied with your brushes, is that right?

Thanks for the kind words! I pour the gunpowder onto the canvas and then push it around with brushes until it is in place. At that time, I burn it so it burns the image onto the canvas. I don't use any paint or adhesive so it is all freehand. You can see how I do it a little better in this video: ruclips.net/video/Zd6Tx7iCmEA/видео.html
      I hope this helps.
