Eric, what I love about your videos is not only the cultural experience through food, but your general love for food. There's something really great about watching you ENJOY what you're eating (for the most part lol.) You don't take little bites or worry about calories. You just go for it which is satisfying to watch. I have all these dietary restrictions, so I live my indulgence through you! Keep up the great work man! PS my wife and I are planning a trip to Japan in a few years for our anniversary, maybe we can meet up!
I'm very intrigued by the corn and mayo danish. From your videos and others, japan seems to greatly enjoy corn and it always looks amazing. Thank you for sharing as always. Its a treat to get home from work in the mornings and see what new and interesting foods can be found in places like convenience stores, markets and vending machines!
It's easy to make corn and onion pizza at home! Google a recipe...it is delicious! I was intrigued by the corn and mayo combo too. Now I know why it's so popular in Japan.
I want to try corn and mayo now !!! When I was a kid we would eat mayo and lettuce sandwiches. Just mayo and lettuce. I loved it. My Aunt Dot who just passed away showed me that trick.
Nice to see the juggling return. I love the confidence buying those treats. I tend to be very discerning when picking up ready made sandwiches. Too many times finding mold spots on the bread. Very off putting. I can’t wait for some summer festival eating vids.🍧🧋🍙🍻🥨
My sister and I used to fight over the crispy chicken skin. Eric goes to store, buys food, arrives at park, randomly picks up oranges and juggles them, drops said oranges and continues review. Love it!
i just love that you make these videos and give us a real life look at what japan has to offer and the difference in prices (converting it to US dollars). thank you for making your content!❤️
Observations. I notice the market does not use the tray for money. OMG, octopus hanging by the cash register. I would have thought it was candy. I could never trust any food in Japan. I love seeing all of the different restaurants, but, I also enjoy the vlogs when you are in nature very much. Sauce is a very important thing in Japanese cooking. Do you take the food home and share with your wife? Lol!! All the gross things you eat, the liver got'cha!!!!! Have you seen Seinfeld talk about chop sticks? Hilarious!!!
Oh I'm with you in the liver department! There are very few foods I do not like and liver is in my top 3. I love how there's a huge swath of variety in these convenience stores. I regularly pause your videos to check out what else is on the pegs and shelves to see what other goodies can be found. GET SOME!
You always make me smile Eric!! My husband and I watch your videos religiously, but are never disappointed!! :D keep up the great videos, and keep on being you!! 🗾 Japan = 💕
Lol your reaction to liver is my reaction I recently had while trying sea urchin(uni) for the 1st time😅 I've never had my body try to reject a food with such disgust. I know it's a delicacy and felt so bad but I had to run to the bathroom! I grew up eating chicken liver and gizzards, even liver and onions occasionally. At least our waiter understood...he said he'd watch the head sushi chef taking bites of uni on his break and decided to give it a go. He had to pull the trash can out and he definitely lost some respect points from the Japanese chef haha!
My daughter got the little mushrooms with chocolate at school yesterday! She loved them. She’s also had the poki I think they are called. The sticks dipped at the end haha. She loves them too
Japanese food, (meaning protein, veg, snacks, drinks) is so extravagantly, and dramatically different from anything I've encountered in the USA. It's very interesting when you show us how people eat there. I don't think I would ever get use to eating a lot of the food you introduce us to, but I truly enjoy your videos. BTW, your shopping bag from Hawaii has " flip flops " on it, lol. Thanks again for another great video.
I have an irrational love for those corn danishes. They're always the first thing in the basket at conbini's when I go back to Japan. Usually i don't make it out of the airport before grabbing one.
How can we recreate corn and Mayo on bread in the U.S. to have a close to authentic experience? Is it yellow sweet corn? Duke’s style Mayo or Miracle Whip? What sort of bread is equivalent? I’m curious to try this.
11:32 Look at the English description in the upper right corner of the package: super-sweet corn is used. The mayonnaise has a mild taste with no peculiar taste and low acidity like the ones sold by Ajinomoto, and the bread is moist and fluffy like a soft bagel, not crispy, with a hint of sweetness. As for the taste, the overall finish is sweet, and I think it can be reproduced better if it is made and left to sit at room temperature overnight or so.
Checking the ingredients or contents Before consuming can save you eating something you Really don't want to eat. The Pretz or whatever the name is, taste and have the same texture as pretzels, probably hence the name Pretz. We have them here in the states. Mainly you can find them, regular pretzel flavor in a big bag for dirt cheap.
That packaged octopus looked interesting. Was it pickled in vinegar kind of like oshizushi? Also, it's hard to find きのこの山 here, but we've been lucky to find two of the competing types recently (one with just milk chocolate, one with layered dark and milk chocolate). And that chocolate filled croissant looks pretty good for a dessert... need to hit up a local bakery and snag one sometime soon.
When visiting Korea I loved all the soft breads, and all the corn and mayonnaise flavored stuff was surprisingly good 👍 Scott Cramer sent me over to give your vids a watch, glad he did!
Out of all the food in the entire world, liver is your favourite?! I can understand difference in opinion in others liking it.. but *favourite* ?! Come on dude.. lol there’s a million other far nicer foods out there than animal liver.
@@LauraBidingCitizen I agreed to your opinion, sure I find it strange to like it but only specific kind of animals liver. Maybe it also due to my region in Vietnam, not to mention I have a strong passion to “durian” which made many of people gag to it strong smell.
@@LauraBidingCitizen Liver, I need a random mood to eat it or have it with the right side-dish. Otherwise it is very bitter and if even it my favorite food, I would gag
Another great video, I wish Alabama had great convenience stores like Japan. All the snacks looked fantastic. I have had the chocolate mushrooms here and they are good.
Eric, Do you have food shortages in Japan right now? Here in the United States it’s really bad. When you go shopping aisles have large empty sections everywhere. I am not sure if it’s a shortage of deliveries or labor to stock the shelves. Also, has inflation affected food prices very much in Japan. Here it is absolutely ridiculous how much food prices have increased. Love your videos!
Ericsurf5, when you have a shaken bottle of carbonated anything, if you just bang on the top hard once it will not fiz over. Try it man. Thank you for your video.
I have always wanted to visit Japan, and I hope one day I'm able to do that.. however, I believe that the biggest hold up for me if I were there would be that I simply just do not like seafood. I imagine, based on many of the videos I've seen from many different people that are in Japan... especially Eric, that I would miss out on so much good food just because I couldn't stand to eat the seafood that is part of the meal. I understand that seafood is a large part of Japanese culture, so there are many different types of seafood and preparations for it so I'm sure there's bound to be something that I would like, however I'd be lying if I said I wasn't afraid to try it. LOL. Also, I know that it's no different than the US, in the sense they have chicken, beef, and pork as well. I do like halibut and cod, as well as tuna and most cases. So there is hope for me LOL, I just cannot stay on the taste and texture of a lot of different seafoods. Anyway, props to folks like Eric who can chow down on that stuff. Haha. I wish I could do the same thing.
Oh yeah, Eric just reminded me that I also do not like Organ meat, at all... In any way, just like that liver he tasted. My reaction would have probably been more of a puking type of movement, however I admire his ability to restrain from doing that himself, hahaha.
@@ericsurf6 I suppose that I'd likely be the same way... Slowly getting a bit more brave and willing to try different types of seafood and various recipes/preparation. Basically just acclimating myself to it slowly. It gives me a little hope knowing that originally, you didn't care for it either, but now you're able to chow down on some seafood with the best of them. Anyway, thanks for the reply, Eric! Glad to see that you're doing well!

I came here to make this exact comment 🤣
That was hilarious
there is nothing wrong with liver when you are used to eating it, i must admit its horrible when eaten cold though, it should be hot
@@capatainnemo I actually don't mind liver, I will eat it occasionally. The flavor isn't what gets me, it's the texture
