Your question got me thinking, i googled it, the technology does exist!! It has existed in different forms since the 60s. I guess it never got mass produced due to low demand
I mean, they would need a system in the phone that would connect with a video, game, etc. of literally anything. It would have to detect the scent they're talking about, and create that scent within the phone and have some type of opening for the user to smell it. And they would have to create any smell in the world so.. That would be hard.. And probably impossible.
Whilst the technology most likely exists, it would probably be incredibly difficult to implement to the point of it likely it being worth the hassle for the tech companies.

There is so much adorability about Latte in this video! Can we just sit back and remember a time we got excited for gifts that were so tiny, simple and cute? I mean, they would need a system in the phone that would connect with a video, game, etc. of literally anything. It would have to detect the scent they're talking about, and create that scent within the phone and have some type of opening for the user to smell it. And they would have to create any smell in the world so.. That would be hard.. And probably impossible.
Whilst the technology most likely exists, it would probably be incredibly difficult to implement to the point of it likely it being worth the hassle for the tech companies.
