- For those of you interested in learning more about the Korean Jindo dog, their typical temperament, behavior, how they act around people and other animals, please enjoy the following video made by volunteers for Two Dog Farms Jindo Rescue, based in the USA, which also highlights clips from interviews with adopters commenting on the best and most challenging aspects of living with these fabulous dogs.

The former owner died in an accident and adopted a Jindo dog. But it suddenly disappeared and i looked it up,and it was at the old owner's house.

You know how loyal Jindo is ? Cops don't want Jindo as police dog because they follow only one, his owner.

@@newjaens_joah 실제 바둑이를 보았는데 정말 똑똑하고 영리한 개 . 털업는 삽쌀개라고 하데요 유전자가 몆만개가 일치하고 털없는 유전자만 다르다네요 지금 우리 순수 토종견은 삽쌀이.바둑이. 동경이 밖에 소백산 불개도 있긴한데 다들 너무 귀하고 분양받기가 제약이 만터라구요.

My friend who is a farmer had 3 and his favorite was the leader he was a very special dog. He would lead the other 2 into exploration expeditions every day, sometimes they would come after 2 days. It was the first time I've ever seen a human give a dog that much respect, they would sit there for hours just staring contently at each other, with the occasional pet on the shoulder. The other 2 understood this relationship and just hung out behind their leader, seeking no human affection. Sadly we never understood what happened to him, one day my friend told me that he hadn't seen him for 5 days and you could tell my friend was worried sick. This was 22 years ago I can't remember what happened with the other 2 jindos.

I took a puppy home to Boston from Sochi Russia who to my surprise was a Korean Jindo and this video felt like a support group 😂 it took me so long to understand her but now I want a second the best dog I’ve ever met
My dad used to take our jindo to his work place. Our dog would catch mice/rats and stack them in front of the back door........ its disgusting yes, but we do praise him for the "gifts" he's a better hunter then the building cat lol
And its absolutely true about cleanliness. Just like a cat, he loves to groom.
And definitely great escape artists... (seems similar to the wolfdog breed, needing deep/tall gates)
맞습니다. 진돗개가 사회성이 부족한 이유는 경계본능이 강하고 사냥특성 때문일 겁니다.
무엇보다, 영상 설명에서도 있듯이 진돗개는 서열을 중시하는 견종이라서 서열이 없는 그룹에 있는 걸 많이 불편해 합니다.
그런 모습들이 진돗개를 비사회성 견종으로 보이게 하는것일 겁니다.
그러나 그 서열은 단순히 힘의 세기만을 말하는게 아니라는 점입니다.
진돗개의 서열에는 여러가지 의미가 있어요.
이것은 아마도 한국의 유교 문화를 알아야 이해할수 있는 의미 일겁니다.
가령, 힘의 세기로 인한 서열이 꼭 가족내 서열과 동일하지는 않습니다. 숫놈이 암놈에 대해 대부분의 시간을 피지배적 입장을 갖는 경우도 종종 보이는 특성이고요.
특히, 암놈은 임신하거나 육아할때는 숫놈조차 접근을 못 하게 할정도로 영향력이 커집니다.
또한 그들은 각자가 모두 주인에 대한 더 많은 신뢰감을 갖기위해 경쟁하지만 주인이 정한 신뢰적 서열을 그대로 인정하는 경우도 많아요.
진돗개의 서열은 특히 같은 진돗개 무리끼리 있을때 더 엄격함을 보입니다.
자기들 끼리 알아서 서열을 정하고 그 서열을 파괴하는 개체에 대해서는 집단적으로 응징하는 경우가 많습니다.
그렇더라도 주인이 정한 서열을 적극적으로 파괴하려고는 하지 않습니다.
또한, 무리내 가장 약한 개체에 대해서는 상당히 관용적입니다 심지어 리더에 대한 도발적 행동에도 참는 경우가 많아요.
특히 암놈의 경우에는 오히려 약한 개체를 편드는 모성적 본능을 보이는 경우가 많은데 그건 진돗개 무리에서도 특이한 경우가 아니에요.
이런걸 모르고 무조건 상대와의 싸움을 이기려고만 하는 지배적 성향이 강하다고 오해하는 경우가 있어서 굳이 써보았네요.
사실 진돗개는 싸움을 썩 잘하는 개는 아니거든요. 필사적으로 하기는 하지만요..
Jindo is most similar to wolf.
Huskies and Malamutes too. Spitz breeds like jindos are very close to wolves

Simply say, it closes wild animal. They chosen you at one time and forever un-change, really un-changeble. They might be thinking you are boss wolf forever no matter what you abandon them untill they die.
I brought 4 Jindo dogs back from Korea living in terrible conditions (probably before they were going to be eaten) about 25 years ago. They lived to about 12 to 14 years old. Two of them had crazy strong prey drives and the other 2 were rather shy. To this day I can't believe how a civilized, modern society such as Korea could have dog meat farms.
it goes back with history. during and after the war. They didnt have much to eat. So eating Meat was something special for them. So they didnt have cows or pigs for meat. so all they had dogs. and then that kept go on and sort of turned into tradition during summer. not everyday meal. however as korean became more developed country. people had more options of meats to eat. they started eat something else. so it became more of old generation thing. also now they have passed the law to make it illegal for eating a dog. so it will be 100% illegal from 2027 till then they are destroying those dog farms and restaurants.
There are many mountains in Korea. So Jindo dogs have more advanced front legs than back legs to climb the mountain.

You should think they are more than just a dog.. that's how challenging they are.
Once you earn their trust, they will be really loyal to their death. But beware about how
smart they are, if you are not trusted owner meaning not being dominant, jindo will try to rule the house.
They are naturally clean in which they will always take care of bowl movement outside, often they will hold for a week to go out and take care of it. They tested in experiment, chained jindo in a long leash which is long enough to jump out of the fence. They always jump out of the fence to poop and come right back in. CLEAN !!!!! THEY ARE LIKE A CAT,,,

Out jindo would only go to "relieve" themselves in one specific corner of the yard, almost like a cat using a litter box. When we brought another dog into the household, the jindo trained the other dog to relieve themselves in the same place. No doggy landmines to worry about in our backyard.
진돗개도 좋은 한국 품종이지만 다른 한국 품종들도 많아요 동경이(꼬리가없이 태어나는 진돗개 같아요), 삽살개(털이 대체적으로 길며 웨이브가있어요 특히 귀신 액운을 물리친다고하죠), 불개(눈 코 털 어두운빨간색 을 띠고있어서 멋있어요), 등등 있어요 많이 알아봐주셨으면 합니다. 위 품종은 한국에서도 찾기가 힘들지만 많은노력을 하고있습니다.

ONE MORE THING ABOUT JINDOS IS THAT they love dramas. literally dramas. they like acting they are mad and making people mad. and they love communicating haha
So glad to have found your video. I just adopted a five-year-old mixed breed with Jindo DNA on the mother's side. Now I understand her. She is dominantly Jindo in looks and attitude with Shar Pei ears and a Great Pyrenees' bark. A great dog.
We adopted our jindo from Korea. They saved her from getting slaughtered at a farm. She is EXACTLY like a cat, as you said. She barely snuggles, only when she wants to. But I think she's a runt because she's half the size of your healthy looking jindos!!! They are sooo adorable! 😍
There are four kinds of Jindo, which are white, yellow, four eyes, and tiger.

since Jindo is a part of northern spitz (just like Akita, Shiba, and Husky/Malamute), they shed...yes...did I mention they shed? Holy crow molly in mother of...they shed.

Japanese dogs are hybrid breed from ancient Korean dogs that's why they look similar as Jindo. Jindo is just the original ancient breed

I made a fence with debris all around so my dog couldn’t get out. Although she gets out anyway . So I make an impossible wall that she can’t get through. She got through it . To this day I cannot figure out how . She had to have jumped but it’s so high . Idk. Rip Sierra. My baby jindo gae.
I saw in TV show that you m ist build that "impossible wall" from the beginning. Multiple occurrences would only train their escape skills.😂

3개월된 푸들과 진도개를 키운적있는데, 푸들은 밤새 안아달라 먹을거 달라. 배변훈련을 몇일시켰는데도 5개월되도록 완벽하게 가리지 못했어. 진도개는 3개월도 안되서 알아서 배변가리고,
화를 낼필요가 없더라.

My big problem with my Jindo (Nanook) is he is Cleaning his self till he make his self Bleed, I have to Towel was him because he gets into a panic attach if I try and Bath him in the Tub, So I must Wash him with a towel 2-3 times a day or he does it till he bleeds.. Great Dog, but Mine has Mental Problems for the First owner, and it was his Son and Grand Kid that un traind him wile BOB was going thru his Cancer treatments..

They are known to hunt down wild boars and even a tiger( maybe exaggerated)
호랑이는 과장이지만 멧돼지는 세마리 정도면 거의 90프로 이상 성공합니다. 다만 너무 어린 개체의 경우 공격성이 강해서 크게 다치는 경우가 있습니다. 진도개 사냥 팀플은 정말 교묘하기 그지 없어서, 노련한 놈들은 거의 피해없이 멧돼지를 사냥합니다. 진도개가 때로 몰리면, 호랑이도 도망갑니다.
과장이 아니에요 멧돼지가 자기 영역안에 온다면 절대 주인뒤에 숨지 않습니다

At that time in UN, most of countries started to take Chinese side rather than Taiwan after “Ping Pong Diplomacy” under US, and Korea even was the last country which diplomatic tied with Taiwan.

점점 회자되어 간다는 것에 얼굴이 화끈 거릴 정도입니다.
