I know that small Bikes are called beginner bikes. But old guys like me who mostly use their motorcycles for around town like them as well. They are cheap on gas, cheap on insurance, and they are light. They are perfect if you want something a little more than a scooter. They can take you a lot farther than a scooter could as well.😊 Don’t tell the cannonball scooter riders say I said that.

They can also be a ton of fun to rip on. Running my Versys 300 up over 12,000 RPM through multiple gears without doing go-to-jail speeds is great! My last bike was a CB1000R and by the time you shift to 2nd gear, you have to start slowing down unless you're on a track.

OC. Just picked up the 24 model/450ss in black last week. Love it so far, it was nice to change the shift pattern to GP shift without having to spend another $400 to $500 for rear sets to accommodate GP! I did have a lot of play in the throttle but the cable adjustment by the throttle fix that issue. My clutch starts to engage about 20% of being released, other then that I agree with your comments. Bought it to have fun on the track, 65 yrs old & still having fun!

Been riding my 2024 450SR-S for a month and loving it! It's a great beginner/learner bike with plenty of power to learn on. Lightweight, single swing arm, sounds great, nimble, predictable power and fun. Traction Control feature for riding in the wet or loose gravel road is a bonus for beginner riders too. Definitely a fun/fantastic first bike to learn on before upgrading to a 600cc+ bike later down the track. I'm considering an Aprilia RS660 as my 2nd bike, but for now, I'm absolutely loving this 450SR-S.

I'm still waiting for SR-S review, so thank you for your comment about this bike. I've put my eye on it because it looks better, has TC and bigger brake disc on the back wheel. How's it performing on straights and on twisty roads as well?

    • @mervyoung5397

@@uros2909 Being lightweight, it’s extremely nimble and flickable along twisty roads. On the FWY it has plenty of power to overtake too. I haven’t timed straight line acceleration but from what I can tell and feel, it’s quick enough from the lights to leave traffic behind without too much effort. It’s a great peppy little bike for city commuting, and sounds pretty good with the stock exhaust and that 270 degree crank. I don’t really see a need for a loud obnoxious exhaust. Sounds pretty good in stock form. I wish it had a little more torque, but it’s decent enough for a 450cc bike and can still push you back in your seat under hard acceleration. It’s the perfect beginner bike IMO.

re: throttle freeplay. You can adjust that on the throttle cable. My 300Nk also had that issue, and it of course loosens over time. It's not throttle-by-wire, its a cable. So peel back the rubber, and adjust the throttle cable nuts to tighten up the cable slack, you can get the freeplay under control.

I went and completely decked it out with parts from AliExpress and eBay. Some people won’t agree with that and I understand. However I wanted to keep this bike as Chinese as possible lol. When I bought this bike I also had a few others and that included a Kawasaki ZH2. I sold it a few months later because I was always riding the CFmoto. OC: IMO the Ninja 400 is still the King of the beginner bike market. Even with the new Ninja 500("Ninja 450") the Ninja 400 has everything you really need in a beginner sportbike. Which is also why i believe the Z400 is the best beginner naked bike. Plus either Ninja 400 or Z400 will definitely hold their resale value. That said it does seem like CFMoto is aiming for the Ninja 400's crown with the 450SS. But I still feel if you are a beginner rider and you ask someone whose more experienced with riding the Ninja 400 will hands down be the most recommended bike and I don't really see that changing entirely to be the 450SS being the most recommended. CFMoto has done an amazing job shaking off that Chinese motorcycle stigma about build quality and reliability, but their not at the level of Kawasaki just yet.

The complaints about the clutch sound like what I spent a LOT of money to GET in my manual cars, a clutch that engages or releases REALLY fast RIGHT at the start of the clutch throw and is very short. You get faster, more precise shifts that way in a car. Ideally you have a properly adjusted STOP for the clutch pedal so it blocks the pedal from moving JUST PAST the engagement. That way under spirited driving you never think about the clutch, just STOMP it and it'll always hit perfect.

I hate how whenever people talk about the 400cc class they always preface everything with, "For an entry level bike..." or "For a beginner bike..." To me this seems very backhanded. It's like telling a woman, "For a 40-year-old mom, you look really good!" I get that it's still a complement but it kind of implies that they only look good in a certain context.
I've been riding on and off for almost 10 years, gone through a shit load of bikes, and now that I'm an experienced rider I'm gravitating towards this lightweight small cc class.
I would like to change the narrative that these bikes are especially great for experienced riders that have already experimented with all sizes and speeds of bikes.
anyway, I have an inflated ego and low self-esteem :D

The Ninja 500 is more “mad” at High rpm, but CFMoto pulls all the time.

Oc. This video is awesome, I am a 17 year old really looking into riding and getting into the community as I head off to college in a few months and would love to take a bike into the "city" I am heading to. I really am liking this bike as it reminds me a lot of the ninja 400 but with a lot more features on it which I really like. Anyway, thanks for the awesome video and your feedback on the bike.

I'm so lost on what to do next. Just got back into riding at 42 and bought a cheap 04 heritage softail cruiser and made into a cholo vicla build. Here's the ISSUE, I am 6'4 and I need a new bike. I feel like everyone in my age group just gets a Road Glide Bagger and cruises around. Am I too old to get something like a sport bike or an MT-10 nake bike? wtf do I do here. I don't ride for multi day trips, I'm not a race track rider, I don't like dirt bike trail riding but I do know the bike I have now was great to start back on but it is the most uncomfortable thing ever (probably due to my build changes but still), but I don't think I can lean over on a bike for hours on end on something like an R1 or whatever for example.
What does a 40s tall rider get in this situation?

Hi i have a question about the bike, im getting mine next week, with th 5 year cfmoto warranty, but in the manual it says that ANY mods to the bike void the warranty, including mods to the exhaust. Will that mean if i put on a slip on my warranty is gone? Because if so i would rather keep it stock.

Had liter bikes before, but felt useless on them. Looking for another style of bike this year as well. I have a Cruiser and Boulevard Thumper already. I want a sport and an adv next to round out the collection.

I'm interested in CF MOTO 450 MT (Ibex), today i have a FJR 1300, and love the power, but it's 292 KG!! I think the 450 MT nails a sweetspot between weight and power... But will i think it's enough? Almost 100 hp less than i have today. I know i have to have realistic expectations... Will the 450MT handle some 2up riding from time to time? I have been riding 2up on a 650cc in the past... but a 450??? What do you think?
