we are not really meant to speak too much about who the members are behind the mask but I just think you might love to know that he taught drums for many years before ST exploded into the stratosphere this past year. You can tell in the way he speaks that he’s very good at explaining what’s really going on behind the choices he’s making and what purpose those choices serve to the music. ☺️ he’s a great teacher!
There's something about this one particular Vore performance that has stuck with me to the point that I don't go a single day without watching it, just perfection🔥
Not a drummer, but it always amazes me the flexibility of II and how different sleep token can go from song to song stylistically, from Vore (the first song) to Dark Signs (roughly 24:20). I understand why some metalheads may not like them, as they are not the regular metal/metalcore band, but I listen to more stuff aside from metalcore, so the changes of style/genre are always interesting. This is why while different in nature, I also enjoy electric callboy a lot.
I was so happy they opened this video with Vore - definitely one of my favourite songs! So glad to see you committing straight into it and looking at the whole thing
Sleep Token are my favourite band, which is how I found this video and your channel. Great job mate. Love your teacher’s insights into the Drumeo interview. 🤙🏻
Of course II has natural talent, but you can tell he’s put in countless hours of practice to get to where he is now. Hard work pays off. Best show I’ve ever been to!
My only problem with II is that he MAKES me want to play drums. Every time I see him play, I feel the urge to play drums. I got no time and no space for a drum set, but this man single handedly makes me want to play drums so badly.
Fantastic review Robbie. I’m a die hard fan of 4’s drumming. The guy is simply friggin amazing. I picked up in the Drummeo piece that one of his influences was Eric Moore. If you listen/watch Moore, you’ll discover he was a big influence. Even his kit setup resembles more. Pretty cool how 4 took a jazz/gospel style and dynamic and turned it into his own creation. My 2 cents. Keep up the good work Robbie.
What I noticed and what I find very inspiring is that ii placed his slave pedal left to his Hi-Hat pedal. That gives him the possibility to still play nicely and comfortable on the Hi-Hat. In my opinion you tend to play double bass with widely spread legs anyways so this is a nice to still be a to play the Hi-Hat comfortably and not having to reach that far to the left.
Yasssss. Thank you so much for reacting to this whole special!! Maybe next you could react to a few of his live snippets/songs on RUclips. I especially love his variations during “chokehold” live as well as “the summoning” and how he changes up the grooves and solo :).
Alright, what kind of cookie do I get? 😂 Awesome reaction! I’ve watched quite a few and yours have been one of my favs! Really great breakdown of everything ii talks about and his drumming style
great great great reaction, especially when Like That changed it up on you! Appreciate you reacting to the whole video, 'Gods' is just amazing, what a great song. Appreciated them starting with 'Vore'. As always appreciate your breakdown to things, really getting inspired to pick up drumming, and videos like this make it seem its possible after age 25
Just back from teaching, and had a student who had their first lesson tonight and was 10 years older than me! Never too late to start if you have the passion in you 😁😁
Thank you for reacting and analyzing the entire video. This might be the fourth or fifth time I've watched it. It never gets old. I can't help but be in awe of II's playing. I also like Dave Grohl and Joey Jordison. Also a fan of II (obviously) as well as Vlad from Jinjer, Yvgenie(sp) from Slaughter to Prevail, Chris Turner and El Estepario Siberiano. I may have to add you to that list. 👍🤘
Another great drummer you should check out. Chris Turner from the band Oceans Ate Alaska. He has a solo project as well. He is a machine. He takes pride in not playing with triggers or snap to grid. Hes got speed and power. One of his solo songs is him and thomas lang finishing eachothers parts back and forth. Its nuts. His solo stuff is just him going all out while with the bands songs he holds back
43:54. I understand you know Gavin Harrison right? Bring him to the channel :) I really enjoy this channel my friend. No bias no click baits pure drumming chit chat. Love it. Those flams on the snare too . One might say it's easy lol
Austin Archey recently signed a deal with Meinl Cymbals and did some recordings of three songs He's the drummer for Lorna Shore if you're looking to do another react video, would love to see what you have to say about his talent.

I'm not a drummer, but from a muggles perspective, this seems like porn for drummers
Drummer here, yeah basically just porn
Thank you for reacting to the entire Drumeo video! The "Gods" playthrough is absolute perfection.

same. the live kit just makes this BUMP
The fill near the end..
6:59 agreed, there's also r fill at the end of Apparition, that isn't on the OG track, that is chilling
I’ve seen this video so many times but you catch things I haven’t noticed before! Thank you for the content.

that snare does not get paid enough

Love II's timing!! You can see it in the body language. Even when not playing II is keeping the time signature for the song.
Hell yes I cannot wait to sit here and watch the whole thing when I get home. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

I'd love to see you do a reaction to Matt Garska - Tooth and Claw (Animals as Leaders) Unreal

Hell yeah
he also mentioned tony royster jr
His name is Brandon btw lol. Great video, pal! I really enjoy your content and look forward to each new video you release 🤘
You need to listen to the full songs afterwards.
Aw you missed a bit of his talking
He talks a little bit more about drummers that inspired him in the middle of playing take me back to eden

I’m working on this one right now. Yes the polyrhythms time signatures are tough, but I’ve picked up a bunch of Danny Carey’s playing.
I wonder what ii eats - like maybe just little nuts and dried berries or something.
45:09 I thin He knew he wasn't going to fit "in time" and improvised at the end. Might be wrong . If that was deliberate then... I am done
