PINK FLOYD, "GREAT GIG IN THE SKY" Imagine a group 50 years ago put out an album, "Dark Side of the Moon". Which discusses thru music your life cycle.
Using the song, "TIME". Showing as a child. You feel life is long. Then as you age, Time on the clock Excellerating on the calendar, and you can't slow it down. With each day passes. Turns into months, and eventually years. You become older, and then closer death. As displayed in next Album track. "GREAT GIG IN THE SKY" A song without lyrics. Yet thru music vocalizing. Displayed those moments of emotion in regards too one's final feelings of dying from frightful screams, too the calming acceptance of one's life fading away into an echoing voice, then complete silence as the final piano chord is played...
Amazingly the band of Pink Floyd would record this 50 year old epic Masterpiece.

Originally, The Great Gig in the Sky was an innocuous track that was supposed to be used to fill the void ending the side A. In the first demos, a passage from the Bible was read over the piano instrumental, then this was communications from NASA astronauts on mission. With the end result unsatisfying the band members, Alan Parsons enlisted the help of Clare Torry, a studio singer. They ask her to provide them with a vocal improvisation with the only indication of thinking about death and the fear it inspires.

Hi 😘Milly. Singer Clare Torry empties her emotional tank on this breathtaking performance. The song is said to represent the cycle of life. 1st there's birth. Then there's life. Followed lastly by death. The spoken word introduction was done by the janitor at Abbey Road Studios. His name is Gerry O'Driscoll. Beautiful reaction Hun, Your Ricky🥰 Will we ever see again, the black couch?🙂

This track is on the mind blowing album The Dark Side of the Moon
But just before that, Pink Floyd did a recording of a track
"Echoes" (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972
No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt😂
So if you want to see the guys "back in the day" playing in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre of Pompeii Italy definitely check it out.

There is always an intriguing message behind their legendary tunes. Thank you my friend for a fantastic video. You are still the best. 🙌🙌🕊🕊🌹🌹

Cool reaction, one small point though ,Pink Floyd is a band not a person. They are the 3rd best selling band of all time, inspiring so many great artists from all genres of music.
Hope you continue down the rabbit hole and enjoy these geniuses at work . Peace

Is this song about death or dying?…. No. I met David Gilmour back stage at a concert in California 1984. I asked him about the meaning - reason for “Great Gig In The Sky”…. David’s answer was something like…. .I was asked if Pink Floyd would ever do a song about Religion like some others have… so I said, You are referring to the great gig in the sky they call “God“. What words could be used to describe all the pain and suffering caused by religious beliefs. All the crying and wailing from mothers who lost their husbands or sons in a war fought over religious differences. The only vocals should be just the sound of a mothers crying with pain and suffering. That’s the true intentions of the song. We didn’t want to make that public so as to avoid any religious boycott like what happened to the Beatles after Lennon made his comment about Jesus. We could not tell the singer so as to avoid her making any comments that would end up in the media. The speaking heard at the beginning was recorded at Apple records prior to the recording of the song. Roger Waters placed a recorder at the door asking anyone who walked by to answer some questions into the microphone. The janitor stopped and recorded his answer to the question….”Are You Afraid Of Dying”?. It was decided to add the recording to the start of “Great Gig In The Sky”. It leads people to believe the song is about dying, but that is actually not the case. The Great Gig In The Sky…is GOD … The incredible vocals from Clare Torry happened when she did not know what they wanted. David Gilmour told her to pretend her voice is a Saxophone like on other songs on the album, no words, just tones. Results are legendary.
