    Nice work. I dont use masking tape either as when you pull it away you leave the chance of small bits being mist just clean as you go once all painted job looks spotless 👍

    Sorry bud but you are very wrong..the Shear force on screws is absolutely inferior compared to nails.
    The only reason why screws are superior in this situation is downward force instead of lateral force applied by the 6x3 or 8x4 board used. Try to share off a 16 gauge nail compared to screw.
    They used clouts because were sold by the weight & plots got built to price per unit not individual specifications.
    Timber shrinks as it dries over the decades...

      Screw a drywall screw into a piece of dry timber and try to pry it out with a claw hammer. Do the same with a round wire nail and tell me which one is harder to pull out. I already know which one is harder hence why i haven’t seen any decent tradesman use nails for plasterboarding for at least 15 years. Thanks for your comment.

      Thanks for your comment but if you are skilled at your job there is no need for masking tape. As the video shows the coving was left spotless.
