Oh so that valve back there also contains the charcoal canister. Ok, I thought that was a solenoid only, and was digging around looking for the cannister. That's easy enough, you don't even need to hoist her in the air to get to it right there behind the wheel, I was able to fit under there with plenty of room. So far I've been able to change my fuel pump out with a TRQ pump using the service hatch under the 2002 Impala rear seat (Thank you 1A Auto!) - she wouldn't kickover when it's hot out. That fixed that issue... Wasn't fun working in the heat wave we just had up here, made me think of all the times my dad worked on air craft in Vietnam out in the heat. I'm still getting an occasional solo P0446 code... I've changed my gas cap, but that didn't fix it... She throws a code every 10 or 20 miles or so after clearing it. I think my next move is to lube up my cap and fill neck to make sure it's not a seal issue. I've checked all the hose connections I could see, and they look fine. After that I think I'll replace this canister ($30 part) and to replace the Evap purge valve under the hood. (*$10) part.
+presrob4514 Great question! So long as your 2002 Chevy Impala has the square plug connection, this is the same part and installation process. We do carry the part for this job at the following link:www.1aauto.com/1A/PurgeVentEvaporative/Chevy/Impala/ACEMX00006?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony
The part replacing is the canister vent solenoid valve The canister purge solenoid is up on the motor the charcoal canister is up on the left upper side of the gas tank the tank would have to be removed to replace
Im trying to figure out why it hasn't been pointed out in the video that the actual charcoal canister is indeed above the fuel tank at the left side, as pointed out in a comnent here. And I can't figure out why the video thinks that solenoid valve near the gas filler tube is the evaporative canister.
I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. And I have a code that reads po446 and when running the car for awhile it starts to smell bad by the gas cap .could this be the problem?? And what's the difference between the evpap canister and canister vent valve?
On my 2004 cavilier this is on the passenger side rear. Is that supposed to be like that? The hose connecting to it was just hanging and I had an EVAP p0455, I found the hose and connected with the clamp that was still attached to the hose. Hoping it works.
Thankfully, on my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, the part is right there so if I need to replace it (I might need to do so anyway), it'll take me about 5-10 minutes.
This video is kind of misleading the charcoal canister is up on the driver's side on the top of the gas tank the tank needs to be removed to replace the charcoal canister the part that guy is replacing is the canister vent valve if you got a leak trouble code I would suggest that you smoke test
I remove on average 2 a month. All the years I have been doing this I've only replaced one. Picked it up from GM. Part was about $40. The new one has a different connector so they sold a pigtail for about $60. go figure. Once I remove the purge valve I disassemble it and clean the foam filter out, and blow everything out including the hose to the vapor canister. I have taken a 1/4 cup of dust out of some of these, cleaned them, reset computer and solved check engine light. I have a spare pigtail i power the solenoid with to make sure the valve closes. Check for 12v at the plug, Computer grounds solenoid on start up to pressurize tank If pressure loss--loose cap. sticking purge valve, cracked hose etc, the computer stores a code and check engine light comes on.

Is there aAny video tutorial you can do on a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu for a code P0449 control circuit vent or canister that’s what pops up on mine and two things pull up differently online
On my 07 impala it's not like that... it has the whole pipe with the canister itself that comes off and id have to find one with the pipe connected to canister. Any suggestions?
but will it be effective? cuz I took it to the shop and he said the emissions/evap sensor code came up along with the o2sensor so by changing this these will they help with my problem?
+wylykyotys You will need to get a flat head screwdriver or similar to depress the red tab. This is a locking piece and after sitting dirt or debris may get in and make it difficult to remove. 1aauto.com
I have a 03 Impala & I can't pass my emission test because of codes p0440-p0450 & the heated o2 sensor. Can you give me an estimate on how much that kind of work would cost? Code p1810 also came up for the transmission pressure switch. Is this an expensive fix? Thanks for your time & advice.
Thank you for watching. A dealership will be able to verify that. Unfortunately i do not sell the Canister so i do not have information on it. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I'm a female and don't know much about cars. But is this how you replace the canister vent valve? Just want to make sure this is correct. I have a 2006 Chevy Impala. A shop is charging $160 but if this is a easy and cheaper way to do it. I'd rather have my dad who is a mechanic do this.
+Angel T. Thank you for checking us out. You may be able to use some of the steps in this video, but for the Malibu a different set up would be visible. 1aauto.com

very cool! I get sick of seeing this code and not knowing what to tell people. Thanks 1A Auto!
Good video, although on my 2004 impala I needed to slide a screwdriver in behind for it to slide off, it would never have wiggled off.
Big thank you for the video!
There’s a locking tab that holds the canister on. It’s way easier to reach if you remove the bracket first which is only held on by a 10mm
+Richard Delacruz Thanks for the tip!

Is this the same location for the canister on a 2004 Monte Carlo SS N/A??

I also have a 2002 impala and was wondering the same thing.
Thank you THAT help me out a hole lot
Just making sure this is for a canister purge valve ? I have an 04 impala with code P0442
The part replacing is the canister vent solenoid valve The canister purge solenoid is up on the motor the charcoal canister is up on the left upper side of the gas tank the tank would have to be removed to replace

Newbie here do you take the left rear wheel off first. Hard to tell in video
Does this take care of code P0443 (emission system purge control valve circuit)?
No that is a different part located under the hood
Are they the same for the SS model
When fueling up my impala the pump shuts off after a few cents like its full would this be the cause
No you need a fuel pump obviously
@@jonathanyates5198 he means the pump at the gas station wiseass. And yes this fix will take care of that
On my 2001 impala ls it does not wiggle off you must push or pull a metal tab on the side first to wiggle it off.
Thanks
My car is stalling. Will this fix the issue. I replace the part under the hood that read the same code
I’m having a hard time fueling my car gas nozzle keeps shutting off like if it was full will this be the fix.

$60 for a pigtail plug? holy shit, i'd just join the wires directly together before id pay $60.

I cant get mine off the bracket. I been trying to slide it so hard
Take it off with the bracket, then try to slide it off, had to do that with mine
I replaced the solenoid valve, and the engine is still on, and I drive it for two days and still engine light.
My electrical connector does not have a "tab" to lift. It has a red thing that does not move. Help???
