It’s easy to cook on outdoor fires with practice. Sadly, I grew up where ground fires had to be banned due to persistent drought. It’s nice to watch your fire in Africa, safe in a rainy time of year.

We have a family home at my home country, and the outdoor cooker we set up that looks very similar to yours is always better. It just TASTES richer.
Also the questions of whether the smoke is bad, as long as you don’t heavily inhale it, you’re fine. It’s actually worse if you were to smell the gasoline from conventional stovetops inside the home. This is outdoors, and most people are careful to not fully inhale the smoke. lol.

I learned how to light an outdoor fire from my dad when i was about 7 years old and i will definitely teach my boys to do that as well.
We have an electric stove in the kitchen but we also have a wood oven to cook on when there is no power or we just want to get that special heat from a wood fire.
Knowing basic skills of providing for your family is so important!
    Love your videos and perspective!

5:10 my 2 cents: whatever else about that may work, you're creating a mini-bellows, you're creating a direction for wind to pull, small scale though it be
I like the idea even if that's not it 😅

Gas stoves generate hazardous fumes, the problem is that you don't see smoke, so you feel safe. Plus, it is dangerous to have gas stoves indoors.
