I make my own strings now. I had a buddy give me his string jig and I just think it’s fun to always mess with new stuff. Can MFJJ send a picture of that chart that shows the amount of twists for string length?
Your lucky to have a pro shop of that quality close to you. They are a dying breed, but sooooo nice to have. Pretty cool video, really enjoy your content.
I have built custom strings for my local pro shops since 1991 and enjoy seeing how you do it today. The materials have improved and more tooling is available for excellent string jigs. The process is like building your own custom arrows ... takes more time but you totally understand how to make your archery more consistent.
Wish I had some one as knowledgeable in my area. Would love to go make a string and be involved in the whole process, be thankful for this guy...he is an archery wizard.
Awesome video as always!! Wish I lived closer. Would definitely buy my new bow from MFJJ. Wealth of knowledge and passion for his trade and skill shows.👍
@@ElkShape haha its cool, yall bringing some really good content. Never seen anyone show how strings are made (atleast never searched it). Good thing im subscribed haha
Dan love the video seeing how everything is done was really cool I want to get new strings but I don't like the idea of mailing my bow in but if I drove there would it be possible getting strings made and put on. On the same day.
Can you go into more detail about building strings, specifically, you said white strings are the "strongest" because it has no dyes; but then you covered it with yellow string. What was the point in that? Just to protect the strings?
I've been watching alot of your guys videos lately, especially the ones a out tuning, FOC, arrow weight and stuff like that and I gotta say... Either MFJJ is an archery tech guru master wizard... Or he is one hell of a convincing faker with all sorts of fancy terms lol. How can I send this guy my bow to get restrung and tuned?
Fascinating process and seeing it done by a pro. Great vid, really interesting. A question;...what were those little thingy mabobbers that you crimped onto the string and covered in shrink tube? Their purpose?
@@greatwhitenorth762 they are called speed nocks because they increase speed of the strings. Picking up extra 4fps around there and stopping vibration as your adding weight to the ends of the strings.
I had a brand new Triax when they first came out. I shot it a lot and it ate through 2 strings in less than a year right at the peep sight! On the second string I had them put in a different peep sight thinking that was the problem, still ate up the string. I never moved it around! I loved the Triax but I sold it after that! I think they just have too much pressure on the string being that short. I never had that problem with the longer axle to axle models! Has anyone else had this problem with the 27in and 28in bows from Mathews?
@@brandonhall5561 That sucks man! I almost wonder if these guys never have that problem because they put on custom strings and get a new Bow every year. So they don’t have them long enough to experience that problem. 30 inches or longer is the axle to axle length I stick with now.
I'm surprised that he serves strings that soon after stretching. I usually wait a few hours for the fibers to relax, double check the string length at 100#, then stretch to 400 and serve.
How long do you usually go before changing them again? Speaking of the ones you've made your way.. if say you did quite a bit of practice shots and then used for hunting, would you go a year or more? I'm being told that I should change my PSE freak sp set every year, bow is set at 68lbs and 31 DL shooting gold tips 340 with 100g field tips and broadheads with the lighted nocks, full length
MFJJ does not serve the loops of the cables. this is not a judgement but an observation as of 13:41 min of watching. Do they need to be served? You decide.
Anybody considering custom strings this year? This was a fun video to make watching the whole process go down. TC & DS
How would one go about getting a custom set from Spokane valley archery? I messaged them on Instagram without response which is understandable
Yes i want custom strings for my prime cenergy

That was fascinating, possibly the best video yet.
We were hoping the archery community would appreciate a little BTS 🤘

This was down right awesome. I wonder how much it would cost to have MFJJ to build a string for my bow. Great content
@elkshape still here just super busy with things these days!
Great video!!!
this was so sick! i need a new set on my vertix
What diameter heat shrink tubing do you use when doing the speed nocks?
Can you do a video on your truck hunting rig anything special on the trucks for hunting 🤔
Loved the video!!!

The loops with which the bowstring is attached to the block must also be served.
I came here ready to learn and got completely distracted by…”BOING!!!! She Tight!”🤣
Such a cool video.
dont even know if I need new strings.... but I want some now. haha
same!
“Is she tight?”...edit!... Hahaha!
Awesome job man. One question could you guys do a two color string to see that process of possible? Keep up the great work.
Same way just stop at half and do another half with different color.
Can you get that helical with a bitzenburger jig...not sure what degree that is but its definetly more then what I thought I could get with my bitz
What fixed blade broadheads would you recommend. In the market for some good ones so any suggestions would help. Thanks
I want to know where I can get the right sized heat shrink tube that I can get a customize print. Any ideas
awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wish I had a local shop that made strings they just order. Hell I can do that.
So if I'm understanding correctly you prefer doing strings in a right twist due to the way the material is?
why are you wearing a bino harness indoors
What type of serving materiel do you use ? LOOP, End serving, Center serving. What diameter ? Thank

Btw those strings are legit!!!
Question @ 1:25 is only string okay to change out vs. all string/cables together, (or is this short term vs. long term), what’s best protocol? (Tks!)
Once u put in twists won’t that make the string shorter than it’s supposed to be
I went with GAS Ghost but next time I’m going with MFJJ.

Where do i go to send my bow to have put strings on for me thanks
Why were the brass nocking points installed on the string and then shrink tubed? Was the purpose to add weight as a means of noise dampening?
Thanks
Those are speed nocks, their purpose is to stabilize the string and it speeds up the arrow
Look up bloodline fibers there fibers you don’t need to wax so it’s a wax less bowstring

is it necessary to install back speed nocks on a custom string set? my pro shop told me i dont need it but it came with my standard bow . im confused.
It should have them. I'm sure you already resolved this, but figured I'd respond just in case.

From my experience colored vs natural strings both acts the same. No difference in strength or performance.
