- I am pleased to find those video clips which I thought I had lost about customizing Mora Garberg. This video shows how I did John's custom work. I have made at the same way Taro's custom Mora Garberg too.
Thank you,
Osmo

Backround music by Prodigy.
The chosen music is there only for good sound and rhythm to me. It should not insult anyone by words.
Mora should keep producing their knives as they are, but add to the line with handles like this a well.
nice music, love that old trance
👍🏻
Beautiful Mora Garberg Puukko Knife Making :)
Awesome transformation
🙏🏻👋🏻🇫🇮
End product looks good.
Thanks a lot!
There are knives that I would certainly not buy, but what you do with them is great!👏👌
Many thanks!
@@thetopicala 🙂
Love it !!!
Very cool
Wayne D Thank you Wayne!
Very nice work !
Trimouni Xavier Thanks!
Yes!!!
You need a drill press, very useful for knife making, can sand with it too!
So f..n awsome
Thanks!
WOW, those are beautiful!
Thanks Peter!
Great job!
Thanks Alex! Those three blades you sent to me, hope to be able to show something during the first steps of summer! Osmo
:) Don't worry Osmo! Please make handles for those blades only if you need a simple expendable knife.
:)
You should use leather to cover blade
Why?
You are an artist Osmo
Thank you Allan!
I did the same thing to a full tang blade made of 440 stainless steel, which is a hard steel. I used a Dremel tool with 1 fiber reinforced cut-off disc, and it worked really well. I was able to cut away the excess metal right to the lines for the hidden tang. I was even able to get the section of the blade that met the brass bolster to the right angle to keep the bolster square with the blade. I recommend this method.
I have got the dremel at home... angle grinder did the job well too. That accurate work with front bolster area I managed to do with sanding machine precisely. thanks, Osmo
Very good for us ,you found those clips :-)
Thanks mate!
stype 977 Josko! Happy Easter to you too! Got your message but my reply didn't go through for reason or other. Osmo
Everything is just fine,my friend :-)
I wonder how it would look like with a stabilised olive wood or stabilised buying a handle...
Holy crap there are so many options! 😮
ssi1991 That’s so true! 😀
Great job,thanks for showing,
Thank you! Osmo
Very nice work Osmo!
NuManXplore Thanks Nathan!
Very nice to see Osmo, great job. All the best, Jim
Many thanks Jim!
Man, this is very nice work!
thanks my friend!
You had me puzzled when you annealed the tang.......but of course it adds to the beauty of the knife.
tornagawn Thanks! I needed to anneal the end part of the tang in order to soften it for later peening work with end plate. That metal without softening is too hard for peening. Osmo
A beautiful job my friend.
Great demonstration my friend, cool to the working process, thanks for sharing, take care, Taro
Thank you Taro! The process thanks to you is now easy to me! Osmo
I was skeptical at first, but now…
Awsesome,just awesome. Great job Osmo!
Many thanks Loris! Pleasure to make that video :)
This is amazing
Pop Kids Family Thanks, great that you liked it! 👍🏻
awesome
BANGRACHAN THAILAND Thanks!👋🏻
. However, I would like still a more pronounced hilt with a bigger finger guard
shadowdance4666 Thanks! As a custom knife client you can have anything you want! 👍🏻 Like my client did.
soundtrecks exelent for this job)
Алексей Ковалевич Thanks buddy!
very Good job
Pedro Rodrigues Thank you Pedro!
I don't get why you didn't just anneal the steel? to make it softer before you started working it too make it less difficult for yourself, when dealing with the handle
Thanks for your note! I needed to anneal only the tip part of the handle in order to peen it later. Also if you try to anneal whole handle part how can you be sure it wont affect on the blade part too? This was one of my first tip annealing process too and I am not flawless either 🤣🤣
@@thetopicala it's called heat cycling, I'm sure you've heard of it somewhere, you don't have to heat the entire blade just portions of the the blade you want to target in particular. Using your blow torch there you can heat the handle but let it cool then heat again then cool again it should help with making the handle soft enough to grind and shape to your needs
@@thetopicala great video btw, I loved it. I had the garberg but I not longer own it
Amazing work !!! Congratulations !!!
Thanks! It was fun!
Great clips set to great soundtrack! Quite a transformation for the knife -- from bland utilitarian to exquisite and functional.
Many thanks my friend! I am happy to fullfil outdoor enthusiast wishes! Osmo
You are the "Michelangelo" of blades!!! Each knife is a renaissance masterpiece 👏👏👏
Bravo!!
Heheh! I am not going to take no pressure about this comment! :) Thanks buddy! Osmo
thetopicala when your good, your GOOD 😉
I just used JB Weld on the handle and sanded it smooth, repainted it and called it a day.
Yours is way prettier. :)
Every methods has it's points! Thanks, Osmo
👍 troppo bello!!
Gregorio Indelicato Kiitos! Thanks!
Beautiful work my friend. looks like you are producing a lot of them. maybe mora will get in contact with you soon 😎
Haha Mike, not so many if the third one only is coming... Mora contact would be awesome anyway! Their sympathy for the one who destroys their product?! :) Thanks, Osmo
Just superb:)
Thanks Sandy! You know other people's wishes and ambitious challenges for me generates these custom models. Thanks to their trust against me they were born! Atb, Osmo
First time I had to turn off the sound to a video like this. Nice modding though.
Trukkerkeps Heh! So sorry! Great that you liked what you saw though! Thank you, Osmo
I was wondering how you got the handle off great video I am learning a lot thanks
The original is made very well and secured. Points to Mora! Osmo
Bad ass!
Adventure Time Outdoors Cool! Thanks!
superbly finished beautiful work as usual Mr osmo sir! definitely a masterpiece of heirloom quality!
👍😎👍
Jay, your comment is most kind and appreciated! Thanks, Osmo
Anytime sir. 😎
Beautiful!!! What kind of epoxy did u use???
Grant Buchanan I think it was epoxy called Araldit, slow epoxy anyway.
Holly Smokes Batman!!! That was way awesome! Have you ever done a custom handle on an old Frost Mora 311? Please reply. Thank you.
mister smith I have used Mora blanks sometimes on my works but never met old 311, thanks Osmo
Wow!
Atb., Michael
Thank you Michael! After solving the process I even enjoy this. Ruining someone's Garberg in the first place sounds awful... :) Osmo
what type of hand saw is used in this video?
David ops It’s one of those tiny saws I have bought from Brisa years ago like a keyhole saw.
Man they will become family heirlooms they are stunning.
Music is so bloody annoying I had to shut it off.
Great solution! 👍🏻
@@thetopicala stunning job on the knife, turned out beyond excellent! Despite the music.
@@craigbutler623 Thanks! 👍🏻
Awful music.
Distracting from the video.
Sikorsky67 Hi, thanks for the comment. Someone would say opposite 😀 for the content. Atb, Osmo
@@thetopicala Hello,
You are very good at your art .I have seen few of your videos. You are a master.
Sikorsky67 I know what tou mean. Choosing the backround music really sucks me sometimes. There are some legal limitations on it. Thanks, Osmo
üble mucke
Herr Knoblauch Sounds like new german? to me. Anyway, thanks for the comment!
If you are going to heat a select piece of a knife have the part you don't want heated in water.
Thanks for advice!
Nice job....only what a shit load of music...!
TheDarthvader123 No problem, Thanks! 😀
👎👎👎👎👎
cristi filip 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That is the most stupid thing i have ever seen, buy a blank instead, its cheaper and easier, and you call it almost full-tang, if thats not full tang no knifes are full tang.
Nikolaj C Please don’t underestimate me. There are no blanks available from Fällkniven. I would most gladly buy blank instead of finished knife. If you have got better info /link please throw it here.
@@thetopicala its a Mora knife not a Fällkniven you are working on first off all, i mean bye an other blank than a mora there is even better than that to suit your need instead make the tang even smaller.
Nikolaj C Oh yes it’s Mora. 👍🏻 The same thing with Mora G blanks. No available. And it’s not me who desides which knife was made. My clients choose there blades. Wish you great weekend!
Nice work mate love the scales and good skills Sir !
Thanks Mack!
