  • I am pleased to find those video clips which I thought I had lost about customizing Mora Garberg. This video shows how I did John's custom work. I have made at the same way Taro's custom Mora Garberg too.
    Thank you,

    The chosen music is there only for good sound and rhythm to me. It should not insult anyone by words.

    Mora should keep producing their knives as they are, but add to the line with handles like this a well.

    I did the same thing to a full tang blade made of 440 stainless steel, which is a hard steel. I used a Dremel tool with 1 fiber reinforced cut-off disc, and it worked really well. I was able to cut away the excess metal right to the lines for the hidden tang. I was even able to get the section of the blade that met the brass bolster to the right angle to keep the bolster square with the blade. I recommend this method.

    • @thetopicala
      @thetopicala  7 лет назад

      I have got the dremel at home... angle grinder did the job well too. That accurate work with front bolster area I managed to do with sanding machine precisely. thanks, Osmo

    I don't get why you didn't just anneal the steel? to make it softer before you started working it too make it less difficult for yourself, when dealing with the handle

    • @thetopicala
      @thetopicala  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your note! I needed to anneal only the tip part of the handle in order to peen it later. Also if you try to anneal whole handle part how can you be sure it wont affect on the blade part too? This was one of my first tip annealing process too and I am not flawless either 🤣🤣

    • @gh0stEDC
      @gh0stEDC 5 месяцев назад

      @@thetopicala it's called heat cycling, I'm sure you've heard of it somewhere, you don't have to heat the entire blade just portions of the the blade you want to target in particular. Using your blow torch there you can heat the handle but let it cool then heat again then cool again it should help with making the handle soft enough to grind and shape to your needs
