    We drive to the most southern tip just for the day sometimes from Somerset West, love the trip

    Nice, I like it a lot, great route. So the route I’ve got planned will be the same one over the pont. We as a family went over the pony many years ago when it was still man powered. Two of our kids actually had the privilege and the opportunity to help pull on the cables.

      I didn't know that it had become motorised. I have been over the pont many times but it was always hauled over by three or four big men with shoulder harnesses and chains that bound onto the steel cable. They would walk to one end of the pont, unhook, walk back to the other end, latch on again and haul!

      We figured this out later too... it's a shame but that's what happens when you don't plan routes and don't really do research! But it makes for a good adventure

      A little research along the way makes for a more interesting experience though.
      Also, please film signboards, bridge/river names and historical plaques of interest that you may find along the way.
