@@tringle8872 just my opinion and feeling on it. He's not hard because of his move set he's hard because of how quickly he's able to spam his move set which allows very little room to attack just my opinion.

I accidentally walked into this room trying to find that voice I keep hearing in the castle. Took me 5 tries to fully tank him with my overpowered build along with the mimic tear. I wouldn't even dream of fighting him with my lower leveled characters, this guy is just relentless with the combos.. and that snake phase can suck the will of my two fingers.. And lord in heaven don't even get me started with Radahn.
I keep all 9 of my characters at 150

Took me about 3 hours to learn his move set and beat. His mixups are the most tricky aspect of this fight, he either has a fast sweep attack or two delayed attacks. Learn his patterns and you'll beat him.
Stand underneath him during his flame swipes. When he lands dodge roll once. Count to 1. Dodge roll again. Misses everytime. Same with snakes second phase. Stay close and you can simply break his stance and stop the attack. The problem is everyone runs away. He is easy if you stay close.

Just want to say thanks. I was struggling to get past his initial attack and you helped me figure it out. Once I did that, it only took me a few more tries to solo him. I went with a bleed build and with a very aggressive play style, he went down very fast. Again, thank you so much for the tip on how to avoid the initial attack! God Bless

I was struggling, but all other tutorials make you get 1000 items and respec but this helped because i already had the shield and its the only thing needed for it thx

That slab shield and that hammer worked really well. I did a variation on that and figured it out. Summoning my mimic and having silly healing with my high faith helped. Thanks for the video I've liked and subscribed.

Just beat him with spiked blood fists , getting close to him was a pain but the most fun boss so far
beat him after like 10 tries with a frost imbued bloodhound fang, mimic tear plus the npc summon... it was glorious

If the NPC is still alive in your play through I think some decisions can get him killed before u get here
Second try, thanks so much! Just used a greatshield & defensive Amulettes. Bloodhound fang, block & dodging.

I found that using Great Katana +25 with chilling mist ash of war, mimic tear and hornsent that you can get him very low, then it’s just a matter of getting it down til he dies. I also recommend using the two handed sword talisman just to make sure that EXTRA bit of damage gets in there as I learned the first time I tried this strat without it and got him 1 shot before dying. This strat actually works decent for most bosses with a neutrality to frostbite, and ESPECIALLY those weak to it like messmer

You don’t need that shield nor the block talisman. Just a ordinary heavy like crucibel is fine. And craft turtle meat for stamina reg and get the turtle talisman +1
I used exact same build but I just poked him to death with a spear. I think spear is safer because you're not opening up.
I beat malenia in 3 tries. I have tried like 30+ with this guy.

30 tries and counting. Never saw second phase. I'm as screwed as with Malenia so far (over 100 tries).
Anvil hammer is a poise breaker. I absolutely love that thing.

great guide man! my non-cheese strat is similar. i use any solid shield and mogh's trident. the fights are longer than the cheese ones, but they are effective. .the cheese tactics are so much fun, though 😂

Great strat but it doesn’t work for me. I can’t survive his second phase spikes from the ground. It one shots me……I’m done man. Got as far as I could in the game. Not too bad.

i beat him off my 5th try with the blasphemous blade plus 10 and mimc tear, and we flamed his ass to death, and i used Shabriri's Woe😁😁
I used everything with the shield, and there's one move in the first stage he does that the shield doesn't block, and that's where he goes right through the shield with his hand and picks you up and thrusts you with that fucking flaming sword and your dead. He's done it numerous times.

got him to second phase 3rd try but that damn spear just keeps 1 hittinf me lol and i thought the hippo was a hard fight lol
The first attack is simple to dodge. Hate to say it, but the overuse of particle effects really mess with seeing his attacks.

fr, when i give up i just pull the bloodhound's fand-mimic tear combo , it always works out
He's still easier than Commander Gaius!
Commander gaius was the only boss who seemed truly not fair.
I got him down to like 15% health. Took a break. Gaius is a proper dick. I'll return to him when I'm not so demoralized and the wounds in blown out asshole heal.
Strangely, I've gotten farther into Gaius' fight than with Messmer's in only 5 tries. Still too early to tell (neither is beaten), but Gaius is easier to me so far. I'm also having more trouble on Putrescent Knight than Gaius.
@@hydroshock1853 I had to go full guard boost to take down Messmer to be honest with the Fingerprint Stone shield...but hey, it worked lol :)

I’ve tried this and it is working but I’m struggling on the second stage
My problem some attacks just ignore the sheild and i take so much dmg from this around half my health is gone by that point when it happens

OK, actual tip for mage build; aka How I just did it: Get all the fragments in all areas of the map you can and then use the same method that one uses for Malenia.
(OMG, just googled how to spell her name since I have always called her Melania, because f*ck her and f*ck her too, and I just thought Vaati pronounced it weird! Nope, I just didn’t read her damned name properly! Lol)
Anyway! Mimic Tear and Ranni's Dark moon, and had Ice rag just in case, then patience is key, it might take a few tries! Keep moving, shield up, strafe/roll out of the way of the multiple snakes. With just a bit of luck you'll also do it!
But seriously eff this boss!

Alot of "how to" guides but nobody shows how many fragments they have when fighting him. I found him at 11 with a good portion of the map still covered. Is that when im supposed to fight him or is he supposed to be much later?
You simply go to a guide with ALL the locations and see how far you can go. You really shouldbt be told this
@Elbethium I've already been spoiled about the final boss. I just want to know if messmer is late game or not. No need to say anything about the other bosses
before messmer you should do dancing lion relanna amd black goal night, I killed him at level 140 using the collosal great sword +25 with lions claw ash of war , +13 blessing and +3 for the shadow blessing, also using a +10 mimic
U should be lvl 17 before him

absolutely none of this has helped lmao. Summons get completely murdered in about 20 seconds even with +6 scadu upgrates. He hits me in the head while flying around like a murdercopter. NEver even seen the second phase. Not once. Im sure it works for someone better, but I just don't see how.

This boss was very easy. I don't understand the challenge issue. He only uses 4 attacks over and over and bleeds instantly. Took 4 tries. Disappointed by phase 2 as the snakes looked pretty lame.
Yea it was easy I was a mage beat it 3rd try with level 10 mimic , I struggled more with the Romina saint bud boss
