How I clean diesel injectors

in this video i clean out a Bosch diesel injector from a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit. Take care in disassembly and reassembly of the unit according to service manual torque spec is 52 ft lbs for both injector assembly and injector in cylinder head be careful. Stay safe! Do anything in this video at your own risk.

Nice, in depth video. I believe the ‘washers’ as you call them are labeled as spacers, as they are the interchangeable shims to adjust the pop pressures. As the springs seat and wear, changing the shims adjusts the pop pressure back to stock.

They are the same injector as in my 1998 range rover p38 diesel with a m53 bmw engine my friend. As I have striped all 6 of my injectors down just like you have. 😊👍

Working on my 1981 rabbit diesel and these are the same stock Bosch injectors. You sound like a very educated dude watching this video so thank you for sharing your knowledge. Also this vid helped reassure me that I had all my pieces of my injectors. I noticed that my injectors had two preload washers that had a slightly larger opening in the middle. Any ideas on that?

The washer change the injection break open pressure you may need a injector pressure tester to ensure correct injection break open pressure stay safe

Aren’t these the same injectors in GM 6.2/6.5 diesel? GM’s book says do not ever take these apart for anything. I took apart and cleaned all 8 of mine before I read that. So I’m worried now 🙃

The only problem you will run into is the crack open pressure from what I have seen they're very similar. If you have a way of testing pressure do that before installing them

Are there any rubber parts inside the nozzle? If there are rubber parts I use a large amount of injector cleaner will it damage the rubber in the injector?

Every time I just cut out the bad section of fuel line and hose clamp a “diesel rated” rubber fuel hose in place
