Great work!! A good winter snow and rains Will clean any sludge that was left behind. I hope not to die before I see those straits full of fish as they were two centuries ago!!
that dam served zero purpose and wasn't navigatable by boat. We are also in a drought right now and water levels are low even above the dams in mchenry and algonquin. Spring water levels and revegetation will help clear out that sediment as well
Thanks for the comment. I am neutral about the whole situation. I can see both sides. I am hoping to take more videos along the way. We have had no substantial rain in this area for awhile. Lets see what happens when we get a good rain.
Thank you for the great views. The removal site is well concealed from both the West and East. We are way down on any rain in the areas that contribute to runoff for the Fox. A great time to work within the river, however, which will conclude very soon.
Very Cool! 1830's there were still Indians hunting Bison on the Great Plains! And living in the Midwest and in Illinois! The Corps of Discovery was in 1804! To figure out what France had sold the USA in 1803? 828,000 sq miles of land Jefferson's Follie?
Hi Micheal I'm originally from Palatine a town 30 mins NE of Carpenterville. In some of our records the last time Palatine saw a group of Indians was in 1920. They celebrated Indian Days at Deer Grove. From what I read it was well received.
Ha Ha Ha!!! I used to drive this way from Cvill to spring hill mall sears for work as a teen. We loved driving between the big brick building and revving the engine. It would echo and howl thru the area kinda erie like and super cool sounding. Also burned out a clutch at the top of the hill waiting on the incline in traffic with a stick shift. Oh Ohh Ohh, hey I made out with my wife in the big first building AND she used to do micro assembly there in the late 80's. Amazing, You found my old stomping grounds. I actually got clocked going thru here at 135Mph in 1987 and made the paper! Yee ha . I was a dork...
@@joepetykowskiphotography TY fir posting this, as you said decades of memories come flooding back wheni see that piece of earth. Its literally 1 mile from my home in cville by the high school. ui walked, jogged, drove that bridge and along the river thousands of times. Thanks again for the memory nudge! Time flies!
Really those old dams only help with one thing . slowing down the spread of invasive species. But if the water moves faster and has the normal increase and decrease of flow during the seasons they are not so noticeable. Try taking a 30lb Asian carp in the face on a containment lake when boating.
The Dayton Dam, which is the last dam before the Illinois River, is a hydroelectric power generator. Also, it has at least a 12’ high rise so there’s no way an Asian Carp can jump that so it’s staying.
we have the steel dam in milan ill and it has killed several people. not much can survive that. its the saddest when the people dont understand and go right into it. good riddens
I grew up in West Dundee (still live in Crystal Lake), and this is such a great improvement in natural resource management!

I'm sure they will be back, many fishermen still out on the banks
Good work!

That’s great. Sounds like you had a lot of history in that area.

Interesting thought.

Yikes. Looks more like a creek now.
Weak + horrible intrusive music!
Before you spent the time to show your jealousy by commenting, you could have just changed the channel
Better not remove the last dam on the fox no fish ladder no invasive carp up river !!
